  1. Work have just signed off on my 2 days out request so I will be there, if there is space.
  2. Teacher set of 3 turned up today i'm already getting headaches as staff cant get them working over USB they only seem to want to connect to pc's in "maintenance" mode this is going to be hell when the kids get less loose with these things.
  3. I run artemis lan games across the site. Redirected start menus and desktops for day to day accounts a separate set of redirections for artemis specific user accounts. Then just a case in AD of enabling and disabling the artemis accounts as necessary.
  4. Backup Exec for physical and virtual servers to a NAS. NAS replicates to second nasty in different building. Once a month plug in a encrypted drive via USB to NAS and that then gets stored off-site
  5. a interesting discussion came up with our schools e-safety committee last night, discussing pupils devices and at what point do we draw the line at getting involved... school device, on school network, in school time: school gets in involved personal device, on non-school network, in school hours: school gets in involved as personal devices shouldn't be used in school everyone agreed on those point, the controversy comes with the next scenario personal device, on non-school network, out of school hours: would love to see peoples thoughts and views on this situation
  6. Pesky teachers have been sent home. So decided to do another MTA again today figured I was owed something for me!
  7. Luckily only 3 of them. And each has been issued their trip supplies. Entry badges. Maps Pack of sweets (nerds) A phone power pack (no excuse for not checking in). And a task / checklist of things to do (basically any workshop or talk that involves coding)
  8. Right teachers picked up from school and force marching them to the train station... today is going to be "fun" edugeek stand for a sanity cheek I think.
  9. Ok BETT done today . Done everything that I wanted to do... But being "dragged" back tomorrow with teachers urgg... and there is only so long I think I will get away with playing elite dangerous on a certain stand. (Even if it makes me want a HOTAS system even more). Open to ideas to make it less painful....
  10. Just had time out form back from the head i've got Thursday and Friday at BETT by myself. Then Saturday taking the computing teacher for his first ever BETT.
  11. One of our staff accounts is unable to take their Forms Register despite having the same permission sets as other form tutors (Class Teacher, Assessment Co-Ordinator) If a different teacher with the same permission set logs into SIMS they are able to take her register using the same Workstation, has anyone seen this before?
  12. It's not a cloud based soloution it backs up to two seperate NAS drives in seperate blocks. The reason im questioning this is the spare NAS recently went down so looking for a fail safe should one or both of the key NAS drives go down and the automated backup soloution can't run. Now i have my budget for the year looks like a tape system is about to be my second purchase after the mandatory licensing. Thanks for all your support people.
  13. Ok so the school im currently at is using symantec system recovery to back up 3 servers, great a digital soloution but there is a part of me that would rather use a tape system for backups, am i just "not with the times". what are everyones thoughts on this? also would running both be overkill?
  14. We currently use Kaizen asset management Software to sign out Ipads and Laptops to staff and Students, as long as your using a "wedge" Scanner it works It generates its own bar-codes as well as creating a document of all your bar-codes just hit print, and use a sheet of multipurpose white sticky labels to print onto. If your interested. link
