+1 thats what I used.

I didnt set mine up on a server with IIS - I did it straight from my PC with XAMPP following the instructions on the Xibo website - have you tried turing IIS off incase its interfering? Edit - I just checked my install - my Apache ports are 80, 433 and My SQl is on 3306 if thats of any help!

Its can be subjective and we've been getting a lot of this lately - funny enough around those that have had a replacement recently..... My stance is, if we think its too dim to teach then we pay for it, if not and the teacher still wants one then it comes out of their budget.

It would be a shoe in for a mistake. A toetal disaster that would take a long time to heel. I think this is getting a bit thread bare now. Right back to fixing this electrical socket......

We're just entering the world of Xibo - currently we have photos of kids on cycle, BBC news RSS and a notice area (general school notices and announcement powerpoint). Our head has mentioned getting the BBC news playing (as in video stream), has anyone done this?

As much as watching an Apple fan boys try to defend the latest waste of cash tickles me - I did read an article (on TechRadar I think) that the phones were bending but it took a fair amount of force. I think it was mainly *Ahem* folk of the larger variety putting them in the back pockets and sitting on them that was blamed. By making the phone lighter and aluminium framed they cant take the abuse of other handsets hence the bend. Still I would never spend that much on Itoy any way - with or without the new patented "body moulding feature"

Ours dont get used that much - and when I was ordering them and talking to the sales person on the phone I asked what the difference was between their <<£200 Visualiser device>> and a £5 webcam on a stick. Silence - then some fumbling around about the software being the main part of it (which you can download similar for free I believe). But horses for courses - one teacher loved his for a few weeks.

We have 3 cabinets of 15 and a set of 15 out for teachers use - locked down as much as we can. As far as I can see: Teachers take home - very rarely seen again on site. Students use in classroom to take pictures of themselves on and play little games / internet use Teachers like using them as a "go on the web and do research" lesson I havent seen a massive educational improvement since introducing them 2 years ago. As internet use in areas without machines that is a big improvement (but not due to the fact its an IPad) but havent seen anything to convince me that the investment was worthwhile, especially as we could have provided alternatives. We - like many schools - were pulled into it by the old Head who basically had to bring IPads in without any idea or strategic plan of how they were to be used. "Basically heres the solution - now go and find the problem"

For me its ones that finish and it either hits you with a "WTF!" or you just wish there was more (in a good way): Max Payne 2 Dragon Age 1 (didnt get on with #2) BioShock TES Morrowind Oblivion Metro 2033 Stalker Fallout (1,2, 3 & Vegas) I especially like ones with alternative or secret endings (wont say which ones in case of spoilers!)

We only did a small 15 ipad roll out as a test for staff. Each one came to me and had to sign a sheet along side the specific tablet agreeing to the T's&C's: You are receiving Ipad, (spec), charger, case and £#.# Itunes Voucher Tablet and Voucher only to be used for work purposes Tablet will be returned if requested by SLT, LT, or at the end of employment Loss / damage to the device will be charged to the department / individual Tried to keep it short and to the point!

We put the language students into an IT Suite (however we only get small groups of them) loading the files into a new exam user. Plenty of space and turn on the machines either side of the student incase of a problem. I always use VLC for playing the files. If you cant rip the files could you not just buy an external DVD player for about £20 for the machines. If they are not happy using laptops or PC's then is it really your remit?

Same here - we are looking at moving over next summer - they spread the cost of installation over a few years prior to me starting, we've only just cleared it! (felt bad ripping out a system that we are still paying for). Next year Vanilla.

If you are more worried about it you could always encrypt it with something like TrueCrypt (I know its be discontinued but its the principle more that than the product!). I used it to encrypt our knowledge base area previously as it had serials, license keys and network config information.

We have been having issues here where the server is fine but users suddenly cannot access work etc. I also noticed that I couldnt pull large files off and it would come up with "Insufficient Space" type messages (despite 10+G available) reboot and all was fine. It was our IRPStack (which can be knacked when installing/uninstalling things like antivirus software. Might be worth a look... How to fix "Not enough server storage is available to process this command" EDIT - We are on SVR2003 on the affected servers.

Just had a great one... Staff: "I had an email from someone I didnt know about an invoice - I wasnt expecting an invoice so I tried to open it up.."**rage building** "... except it wouldnt open.." **calmness resumes** "... so I sent them an email to ask them what it was about.." **overturns table and screams** "...they havent replied yet, it was [email protected] should I email them again?" **will to live is lost**. All done in a genuine no big deal voice - even when I point out that this was a blatant scam and the might have compromised the email system and or network they seemed to not understand the seriousness of it!! Sigh....

Cant stop general damage - we tried cable ties but still had mice / KBD moving. In the end we replaced all our suite machines with ones with a lockable panel at the back with all the cables inside, popped security screws in for added protection. This is what we use but other venders have similar ones: The Novatech Pro NAI13 Not had a mouse / keyboard stolen and no more instances of "There is no mouse /kbd on all these machines!" - "yes they are all plugged into this one!"
