  10. Damn - Installed Winamp a few weeks ago on my work PC to listen to some stuff. Hate iTunes, find Media player a bit annoying (and trying to be iTunes) and winamp was the first to mind. Spend ages as a teenager messing with skins and plugins. Didnt know AOL bought them and cant see why - there cant have been much money in it!

    Ipad invasion

You could always get someone in. We had a company called AT Computers come into do the original setup (upgrade Mac to ML, set up configurator and image all the Ipads to our spec). Not cheap but will get you up and running with minimal stress. They were happy for us to sit with them and go through it all so we knew what we are doing. Got all the work done in 2 days - still not happy with some of the security (or lack of) but thats an Ipad thing rather than an setup issue!
  12. Its not that damn Fox song again is it?
  13. Maybe they are all auditioning for that <> awful TV show......
  14. Sorry only just seen this - no, I havent had personal experience - it was just something I came across when looking into the tablet suitability for schools. My personal feeling is that there is no current "perfect" solution, however Win8 is the best fit* for an easy to manage and easy to use mobile device for IT Staff and users. However the Head went iPad. I am only just starting to roll these out and finding out about their quirks and limitations EDIT: *Assuming you are running a Windows Domain!
  15. In papercut you can also do a "Green" report on how many trees they have used in their printing. Can sometimes help if the cost argument isnt getting through! There is a built in top 10 printers report in the report sections that some schools stick up in the staff room. I just autoemail the HoD the report and let them fight it out internally.
  16. Lots of pro and conns for Andriod /Window8 / IPad Most schools go for IPads (for apps /everyone else is) and then live with the management and storage "alterations" you'll have to make. You can kind of apply that IBM thing as a lot of Education Advisers are pushing Ipads. This could be worth a look as well. LearnPad - The Tablet Computer Designed for Education
  17. A bit of a left field type solution - but could you use one machine / tablet to VNC the one thats plugged into the usb, sound etc via wireless. Its something that I've been looking to setup for our main hall installation to remove trailing wires. Could open a can of worms regarding security etc, however it might be an idea.... Or I have seen wireless converters for video, usb etc - but you'd prob end up with a load of separate stuff that could get expensive.
  18. If you dont know how to do something in Word, Powerpoint etc - try asking Mr Goolge, he has more time that your local tech support
  19. If you notice an IT problem - report it. It will actually get fixed then
  20. A better script to remove network as well: Delete multiple printers - Script Center - Spiceworks Could then install printers via VBS (which I've done but cant remember) or use a batch file with: start /wait rundll32 printui,PrintUIEntry /q /in /n\\<>\<>l start /wait rundll32 printui,PrintUIEntry /q /y /n\\<>\<>l
  21. I've done this before - not really in Win 7: This may be useful Command Line Printer Control Will try and dig out some of my old scripts now... EDIT: Found this old script to remove all local printers - its a vbs: strComputer = "." Set objWMIService = GetObject("winmgmts:\\" & strComputer & "\root\cimv2") Set colInstalledPrinters = objWMIService.ExecQuery _ ("Select * from Win32_Printer Where Network = FALSE") For Each objPrinter in colInstalledPrinters objPrinter.Delete_ Next
  22. I received one with no problem - however a friend of mine who did it did not receive his. However it could be because I had a call from someone else in Meraki inviting me to another webinar a few days later and I mentioned it to them on the phone. He chased them up over it once mine arrived and I think they sent one straight out,
  23. I had this last night on my home PC - working fine - loaded a new video and then had the error message. Tried a bunch of different vids and none worked (even ones I'd used previously - left it for a hour and it seemed fine. - My guess is Youtube may be having some issues!
