  1. We signed up with a company called AT Computers to buy the iPads from, setup and configure. They have offered to use their company credit card to purchase the Apps (+10% charge) directly into our VPP and we pay them via purchase order numbers. Could be an option.
  2. To Cheer Al up: "The best way to cheer yourself up is to try to cheer somebody else up" Mark Twain (You can cheer me up by pulling CamelMan out of the box ) or a joke: So there were these two muffins in an oven sitting next to each other. And one muffin said to the other, "Boy it's getting hot in here." And the other muffin said, "holy crap, a talking muffin!!!" Hope your better Al. Edit - Just read your post so this is a bit irrelevent!
  3. Milton: Any one here own a cat? Your houses stink. Someone had to tell them
  4. Good effort - Sounds like a Tim Vine type joke! Apparently this is the "best joke ever" according to some poll somewhere: I met a Dutch girl with inflatable shoes last week, phoned her up to arrange a date but unfortunately she'd popped her clogs
  5. Im In :) Woop Woop getting a sugar rush already:cool:
  6. Hi Gorf Just a kinda of gotcha if your doing SIMS -> Excel reporting. SIMS outputs into an XML format, which is fine for basic data manipulation however if you do advance stuff like conditional formatting you might hit problems. Save the output into standard excel format and you'll have no problems. I've had to manually hack out the conditional of 5 large reports that SLT have happily spent hours putting together and then found they couldnt open it after!
  7. We've just jumped from SnowLep to Mountain Lion - should be ok. A above £14 from App store. Dont think there were any intermediate steps - however I might have nodded off at some points.... It didnt break anything (but I took a back up of the user files as per usual)
  8. Just an update as promised - they cannot hide the settings like they said and are just saying to reimage if students mess them up
  9. Cool - cheers guys will have a look at the HP - hopefully cause less problems that the brothers that we've used previously!
  10. I set up an Access database with tables for Item, Supplier and Owner and tied them all together. Nothing too fancy but quick and easy to setup and maintain. Minimum value was £50 anything "not new" was a judgement call. Can track what we have, who has what, what we've bought from whom and what we've disposed of which is mainly what I get asked.
  11. I'll through my name in that hat :)
  12. Can anyone recommend a good printer for printing on the sheets of labels? Our admin team are frequently having to print a load of labels with addresses on for letters home, reports etc. They want to use the A4 sheets with 16 (from memory) rectangular labels on each rather than the Dynamo little individual ones. Its generally a report from SIMS - so the output will be from Word mail merge. It will only need to be mono. They have a proper MFD in there but they dont want to use that as it will interrupt the other office printing especially around report time. We've gone through a few but none of them have been great - if anyone has a good shout it would be much appreciated!!
  13. We have a Plone server running a basic welcome screen, some links to email, moodle etc and a log into a staff secure area. Thinking about ditching it for a Spiceworks page to incorporate call logging and knowledge base. Or just share point it.
  14. I think you can pin code it cant you? Although I am slightly worried as I asked our Apple Seller specifically about hiding away the Settings to prevent changes - and he said that they could do that. They are being installed Monday so will let you know if I've been fobbed off or how to do it!
  15. Whats E.T. short for? He's only got little legs Whats red and sits in the corner? A naughty strawberry Why are there airports in the Amazon? Coz Jungle iz massive (apologies if any have been posted before - im off to give myself a slap for such poor joke-age..)
  16. +1 for Rawns (or should that just be 1....)
  17. You could use something like meraki to do it for tablets - you get a google maps location for your devices. Not sure about others devices I'm afraid.
  18. Maybe Emma's wrath hath falleth (th, th)!! We're the only ones left!!
  19. I agree but you have to draw the line somewhere - if you were to include all the other devices on the that you support (here its Switches, WAPs, CCTV, Ip Phones, IWB, Projectors, TVs, printers, mobile phones, radios, anything with electricity or a battery) then we'd be all day. I think most of our ratios would be 1:1000+ rather than 1:200-400. I did a quick count when I started here and hit 1000 quite easily - that was 3 years ago!
  20. 1 NM (me), 1 Tech (split responsibility with other roles) 350 + PCs, 10 iMacs, 40 laptops, & 60 iPads so 1.5:460 ish
  21. i thought so too - especially as they offer the mac version - but you can take a horse to water, etc. etc. One thing I should have mentioned is that it is limited to 1 installation per person, however you can contact Microsoft to reissue a code to move it from one device to another. I think its pretty good offering - however if you are looking at this sort of thing you can do it free via SkyDrive (although its Office lite rather than full fat)
  22. We offered HUP to all staff (its dead easy to setup and for staff to order it) from our EES agreement - as above your limited to the number of full time staff (as per your EES (so if you have 200 staff you have 200 Offices that can be allocated) and its based around the domain email account you specify. Out of 106 staff - 5 licenses have been taken up - one was by me testing it!
  23. Anthony and Al - Father and son???
  24. No need to sabotage - CC4 will break itself eventually, its helpful like that.... (Yup CC effing 4 here as well )
  25. You mean this isnt a professionally rehearsed piece??? But you all seem so natural <> (end of blatant flattery to improve chances) For some reason <> peeking over the back of the sofa reminded me of the trapdoor scene in Evil Dead... maybe theirs method to X-13's thinking.... If <> reads this thread - boom goes the chances of the PS4 (aaaand possibly my soul).
