We use Mr Muscles for glass and one of those magic cloths for putting on and one for wiping off, found it to be absolutely brilliant but then we do have the hard screens which help. Never tried it on a soft TFT screen before so would try it first.

We got mostly number 3 with SSDs and 4GB RAM (3 Usable) A suite with number 2 but these are to be replaced this year, Don't have any issues with either as they all fit the criteria required of them and they still pretty quick running Windows 7SP1, We don't have a great budget this year or next but we will still move forward believe me

We came across this a few years ago when the laptop for students scheme came out, one point that we came across was the requirements to have filtered internet access at home, we have a duty of care as a school to make sure that any IT equipment used at home in conjunction with internet access requires a filtering system in place and this is why there is always going to be a problem with giving school equipment to students to take home. The way I feel is to empower the parents to buy in to a loan scheme provided by an outside company separate to the school which would then put the focus on the company rather than the school. There are plenty of schemes out there which provide this kind of solution. I feel it is not up to us to provide an at home service for students as it is their parents who should be in charge even though the money comes from the school. Just my opinion.

This is a clever way of getting people to install primarily free Apps then charging for them further down the line, bit like drug dealers giving free samples to get people hooked then charging double for the product when one cannot do without it. Its the way of the world and it won't get any better,

Just purchased Synology RS3614xs+ Rackstation Installing next week when it arrives (Can't wait) Was going to go with QNAP at first but was swayed by the new stuff which Synology has introduced, 34TB of raw storage will probably go RAID6 which equates to around 28TB formatted storage, Should last us a while hehe!

Hi Dave, It would have to be Microsoft 200 Keyboard and mouse for us I'm afraid as that is all we use as there are no fancy buttons to distract the students and they are very robust. We have tried others but they never come up to the standard of the Microsoft ones. We a little more choosey hehe! Cheers Dave

@truebluesteve: Have you experienced problems with Webanywhere? If so then please feel free to let us know as it could mean problems for schools if this is the case for concern!

@LukeC: Also don't forget that you will require the backbone wired capacity to allow those speeds to aggregate through your network so 10GB switches with 1GB ports and 10GB backbone to support all the added bandwith, You have probably done all this beforehand but some schools have not got the cash to upgrade their infrastructure to this degree and this is where they meet the first hurdle. Definitely! Xenserver here all 3 hosts have been running for just short of a year with HA Even run the Sims MIS server virtually and it helps tremendously when you can snapshot before you update, Yes go for it
