I've got a Carphone Whorehouse contract which provides 500Mb, data, 250 minutes of calls and 2000 texts. It's on Vodafone and is effectively unlimited data because it's so slow I couldn't download 500MB in a month! Their minutes are pretty short as well.

That should give us a few quiet days in school, whilst the are on strike. The thing is @twin--turbo I know what goes on in my school but not yours and vice versa. I feel the government hasn't a clue what goes on in any school. If they go ahead with an MOT thing it will be like a getting design engineers to carry out car MOTs. They wouldn't care that the brakes were faulty but would fail it because the drag coefficient was too high. Teachers do need a lot of on-going training but I don't think somebody in their ivory tower in Whitehall is best qualified to say how it should be done.

Is there anything to gain from having UEFI enabled? I took it off a machine I was working on so that it could boot from a CD, seems more trouble than it's worth.

I've never burnt a dual layer dvd but I'be been asked to make a copy for our HT. Our new Dell workstations have drives that claim to support DL so is just a case of creating an iso and then burning it to DL blank using imgburn? I don't want to make too many coasters if possible.

Solved it. There was a legacy setting in the BIOS that had to be enabled.

My mate Jamie is a stinking rich tax exile. He flits from Malaysia to Sark to IOM to Worcestershire and has just left me with his Lenovo C440 that he bought from Amazon and shipped to his Channel Isles address. He got a French version. He's bought Windows 8 UK recovery disks but I can't get the computer to boot from the cd. I've set the boot order to CD first but I'm guessing I need to do something else. I'm fed up with typing strings of text into google translate. I've tried a different computer and that boots from the CD. He is a good mate, so I don't mind doing it for him.

We have it here. It used to be really good at catching transgressions. If a pupil typed in a barred word, it would be logged with a screen image showing the word and we could present the evidence. The latest version logs the incident but 90% of the time there's no evidence, so we can't do anything about it. You can normally tell from the context if it's innocent. It is quite good for filtering websites.

A couple of weeks ago, I was going to Bristol Airport and as it was 4am on Boxing Day, I decided to follow the satnav along the M32 and through town. Virtually every traffic light turned to red as I approached it and some of them took ages to go to green. I suppose it's some ploy to stop speeding at night but damned annoying. Even so, it was still marginally quicker than my usual route from Gordano services then cross country to Barrow Gurney. It would be a lot longer with traffic.

I've not had any luck googling for an answer.
