  3. As the kids logged on I said to the teacher "See, I've become ungrumpy." "Not so you'd notice," she replied. Sarky old moo.
  4. I became ungrumpy and put a nativity scene wallpaper up.
  5. It's just as funny if it's fake. It made me laugh
  6. I don't believe we have a lot of choice.
  7. Looks like we will be joining up with you next summer. A conglomerate of LEAs in the midlands are getting together with a system from Virgin. Worcestershire, West Mids, Warwickshire, Herefordshire and Staffs from memory.
  8. Sorry, didn't see that. The internet's been down. Back now but painfully slow.
  9. And Peter O'Toole.
  10. One teacher almost in tears, they are being observed all through the day and she's emailed her lesson plans to herself. I took pity and downloaded them via my phone.
  11. Somewhere outside of school. I've put up big notices but I bet I still get pestered "Can I still get my emails?" "Yes, if you do what I'm doing and use your smartphone!"
  12. The mother in law is coming for the week and I'd be dreading it but I'm b*ggering off to Portugal on Boxing Day on my own. Already got some invites to parties. Just hope the Easyjet pilot's strike doesn't affect me.
  13. I think it's ok as long as you boil it first.
  14. I'd leave it on.
  15. I need a PoE kettle, all of my mains sockets are used up.

  17. Researchers for the Northern Ireland Highways Agency found over 200 dead crows near Belfast recently, and there was concern that they may have died from Avian Flu. A Bird Pathologist examined the remains of all the crows, and, to everyone's relief, confirmed the problem was definitely NOT Avian Flu. The cause of death appeared to be vehicular impacts. However, during the detailed analysis it was noted that varying colours of paints appeared on the bird's beaks and claws. By analyzing these paint residues it was determined that 98% of the crows had been killed by impact with trucks, while only 2% were killed by an impact with a car. NIHA then hired an Ornithological Behaviourist to determine if there was a cause for the disproportionate percentages of truck kills versus car kills. The Ornithological Behaviourist very quickly concluded the cause: when crows eat road kill, they always have a look-out crow in a nearby tree to warn of impending danger. They discovered that while all the lookout crows could shout "Cah", not a single one could shout "Truck."
  18. We've only had them a few months. There's a switch on the mouse to turn it off. I think if you don't turn it off, then it makes a good night-light!
  19. We have some refurbished HPs from Misco that do the job. What you need to consider is how they are going to operate it, assuming you only have the smartboard screen to look at. We've found the £16 Trust wireless keyboard/mouse from Wilkinsons works well. In fact, one of our teachers prefers working longer periods in the meeting room using the projected screen and sitting 4-5 metres away. She says there's less eye-strain than using her laptop. I mounted the computers on cheap metal shelf brackets like these White Bracket 4x5in - Shelf Brackets - Shelving -Decorating & Interiors - Wickes with the bit sticking out bent up to form a cradle.
  20. 16Gb internal in a Hudl and a slot for a microSD card. Cheap as chips.
  21. These were old ones, so that's probably why. There must be some security to prevent interference from neighbours.
  22. We have two NAS boxes. Week 1 there's a full backup on Saturday and then incrementals during the week. Week 2 is the same but to the other NAS, which is stored in another building. We use Macrium Reflect and set it to keep two full backups.
  23. I'm not sure it's as easy as that. If it were you'd be talking to your next door neighbour. When you buy a pair of adapters they come with a matched encryption key. It is possible sync. a third adapter by pressing security button on an existing adapter and then the security button on the new one. I've only ever done this with identical models, so you'd need to check if you plan to try and put in a different one.
  24. Off to Portugal, Hooray - Armed with a paintbrush, Boo
  25. There's a piece of software called foldr which allows this. The people who showed it to us are Western Computer - Home
