  1. I don't know how much we pay the LEA but any problems, they remote in and fix it. Worth its weight in gold.
  2. We got a deal from Misco for Olympus VG150s with accessories. It's an entry level camera but fine for point and shoot work. Thanks for the advice. I'm sure the teachers would love a nice DSLR camera but the end results would still be the same.

  4. We are about to get some cameras for classroom teacher. The last lot of Coolpix ones had louse battery life. Can anyone recommend a sturdy, simple budget camera please? GPS would be nice for when they get lost (typically within a week!)
  5. I did suggest that to the DH but do they listen to me?
  6. I didn't mean my "degree in librarying" as a derogatory comment, it was the description the Dep Head gave me as several of the applicants had related degrees but with different names. I'm sure whoever we get will be very capable and will bring good stuff to the school.
  7. The support. Wasn't there a major issue earlier this year that needed an update to fix it?
  8. I've just learnt that we do not intend spending £300+ on the MLS support and our Librarian didn't use it at all this year, although I downloaded and installed the latest version. The worst bit is, she retires in 3 weeks time and we are interviewing for a new one. Some of the applicants have degrees in librarying but I bet they can't fix issues when microlibrarian throws a wobbly. Can anyone recommend a cost-effective alternative to run a small primary school library please?
  9. Get someone to draw rabbits all over your scalp. From a distance they will look like hares.
  10. It said it would be up to 8 weeks for existing users.
  11. Has anyone got one yet?
  12. If only we could go back to the days when John Arlott and Brian Johnston were the TMS commentators and Murry Walker and James Hunt did F1. Now they did know what they were talking about. (well most of them)
  13. Isn't there an admin option to rebuild the database?
  14. Seems that this site is full of true and false information and is designed to get pupils to always question what they see. Does anyone know of similar sites they can use instead? I found a few including http://www.petroldirect.com/
  15. I don't mind getting up in the dark, it's going home that I hate. One of the reasons I work 6am to 3pm, the other being the amount I can get done when the place is empty. We will be spending this half-term, some of Xmas, February and Easter in the Algarve and next winter, I'll no longer be tied to school holidays, so we will be migrating south for the duration It can still get pretty cold at night in Portugal but most days it's warm enough for shorts.
  16. This site is recommended in the next Y7 ICT module but both Chrome and IE10 flag it up as a threat, as does Sophos. I've not delved any deeper, does anyone know anything about the site?
  17. If you disconnect the right connection from the VGA (Red I'd guess) that will make it go blue.
  18. The acorn was still attached to the branch.
  19. Good thinking, it is a very long cable, shame I haven't got any.
  20. I'm guessing you have already done these but: - Have you tried using a different USB-serial convertor and a different IWB? Yes, it still gives issues Have you tried other make of laptops? Does the same happen to them? I'm trying to find another make. All of ours are Toshiba. Does your school have a IWB that can be connected to by USB-A-USB-B? if so does the problem still continue? It's only the 500 series that cause problems Have you tried updating the Firmware of the IWB and\or the IWB software on the laptops? We are using v9.7 because of other unrelated issues. I could try a new version. No, that's the first thing I checked. It just wouldn't work with the generic serial convertor driver. I'll try putting the very latest of everything on a computer and see what happens.
  21. This seems to be happening more and more and Toshiba laptops seem to be more likely to be a problem. But is it the laptop, usb-serial convertor or the IWB controller? Any ideas would be welcome. Thanks, Ray
  22. One of our cleaners one a million on a scratch card. I should say ex-cleaner Lovely lady and a well deserved win.
  23. I've got the job of supervising the landing pad (playground) making sure it's kept clear. I then get to chat with the pilot whilst the paramedics are dealing with the injury. The pilot likes coming to us because he can land on the tarmac and not get his shoes dirty.
  24. I lifted this from the Dorset Police website
