Hi All, I have an odd one; we need to convert some mail-enabled security groups back into old fashioned distribution groups; Has anyone done this? As usual I can find instructions for one way but not the other.

This might be a case of teaching to suck eggs, but yes, I can confirm these are pants; 4 currently dead for power issues on my desk. Though to be fair, once we got through the mountain of red tape the replacement process was fairly quick.... that is if they turn up.

Hi all, I've kindly been donated a bunch of laptops from a local business to help with the current covid pandemic. Their DPO has (quite rightly) removed the HDD's so I need to provide these, however I am reluctant to licence our MAK/KMS keys against these as they will likely never be seen again. I have a ticket open with MS to try and find a solution, but other than buying OEM machines or the government issued ones how is everyone else dealing with licencing these machines we are likely to never see again? I would have nightmares about losing our licences and having to go through that process again...

I've been hearing great things about inTune and wanted to get some 'boots on the ground' opinions; * Do you use it with AD/GPO, more traditional security? * Do you do staff and student devices? * Do you purchase the kit, or can anyone setup a laptop (how?) * What are the pitfalls for device management? * What will it essentially do for us that an OEM straight out the box won't? I figure InTune is the next big thing, but as with most MS products you either know if and like it, or you don't and it's got a mess of settings\costs\licences to configure Can I get some honest opionions on use and setup?

As a rule I wouldn't use anything lower than 256 for domain machines; however I have gone to 64 for lockdown laptops as these are W10S and not domain joined

How are you running the backups at the moment?

I'm hoping it will be fun, otherwise I'm in trouble! This was my first idea, however I got stuck at the part of filling a 10mm gap between walls - Especially if they're around 2-3 inches thick (hence, squirt the foam in) Agreed, TBH I want to avoid grinding as I don't want to repair and not keen on creating dust storms of spikey stones Those would do the trick, but again it's all about filling the gap between the walls. Another idea I had was to create a wooden or PVC 'frame' that was perfectly level so I just attached the conservatory to that...

Well this was a concern, but we've had all the electrics redone in the last 5 years (used to have the old fuse wire system) and it seems very unlikely any power goes through there (I can find the main in at the centre, along with the Earth wire) but definately worth a worry - I was also thinking damp course and plumbing, but TBH there should be very litte attached to that back wall This is where I was hoping the flex-seal would come into play - Expanding foam, flex seal and some white masonry paint (Phil, put the knife down) But, I worry about the structural integrity with a foam gap between panels (obviously the screws would need to be deeper) The trim was the hardest to find! I experimented with scribing but the pebbledash was too irregular for that I was hoping this would be easy as the only wonky bit is the wall of the house (!) Thanks for your input, most appreciated

Ah, if it's directly attached then it will be a drive letter - I thought if it was hostname try changing it to IP but that won't work here the code I use is as follows: START BACKUP -backuptarget:\\server\folder\folder -include:c:,d: -allcritical -vssfull -quiet ^ C: is the windows partition, D: is all my VHD files -allcritical covers everything and -vssfull covers the VM's So yours would need to be something like; START BACKUP -backuptarget:D:\folder\folder -include:c:,d: -allcritical -vssfull -quiet

A quick thought - Windows Server Backup doesn't like drives over 15tb (I think, give or take) Are you running it via sheduled task or the gui? is it backing up to an IP or hostname?

Hi All, I have taken the plunge and ordered a self-build conservatory They make it look so easy! Anyway; the only issue I have is I need some advice on actually attaching it to the house, and the flashing on the roof. The house has render instead of plain brick and some of it has been applied thicker in some places than others (thickest difference is about 10mm) But it's thick in a bulge around the middle (just to be difficult) so the conservatory would be attached like so: )] Now, the question is do I; A) Baton out the Conservatory on washers/wood where needed and seal somehow with foam/silicone/flex seal PROS: Easy, with no damage to external or internal walls - minimal structural change Able to change washer sizes from 10mm all the way down to 1mm CONS: Base will need to be adjusted to compensate for the bulge More likely to leak/rain damage to enter through cracks Wouldn't be as aesthetically pleasing (large silicone beads on the side) Will need to be precise with the base placement or else it will need to be adjusted B) Grind off the render to make it smooth PROS: More solid fix to the side of the house, smaller gaps Better structural integrity no rotting wood, draughts etc. CONS: Dusty, dirty and potentially hazardous (flying bits of stone etc.) Grinding too much may cause damage to the external brickwork allowing in moisture Grinding the entire area is very time consuming Bear in mind with this project I'm going to have to flash and grind anyway (I'll be using lead alternative) What do you all think? Quick summary - Fixing a straight exterior wall to a wonky one, what's the best option? Amazingly I have found 0 videos on YouTube that cover this!

+1 for Windows Image Backup - I've found it does VM machines and physical servers flawlessly; but with two major drawbacks; 1. You can only do daily backups that overwrite, unless you use scheduled tasks https://www.ubackup.com/windows-server/windows-server-2012-backup-schedule-weekly-3889.html 2. there is a limit of about 20TB for larger drives

Sophos Av and Impero are the only two apps I know that can cause this issue; however with all software updates we haven't had many problems (touch wood) Last 'dodgy' version of W10 was 1607 I think

So I've installed ABP on some chrome users machines to try and reduce bandwidth (so far inconclusive) However they always get the 'first run page' - ABP have a reg file to stop this, but the folders don't exist and when I try to import them I get a disk error (?)
