Thanks for this Alfatec, I'll have a read through of these articles, but the only time an app has re-installed itself is when we apply large updates like the anniversary update, at which point it's quite nice to redploy the script to see if there's any new apps we need (It's a lot easier to uninstall apps then install them) With folder redirection I have played with this idea but could only get the desktop to work, not the start menu - Is there a trick to this I'm missing possibly? I had it pointed to a network share with a 'programs' folder and populated as such but after some trial and error found the script to copy files a lot more reliable (well, it was) I also tried the old mandatory profiles as we used with Windows 7, but this messed up other settings like colour schemes, access to right clicks etc. but did make the start Menu work.....

The way I've found to do it is to remove the apps via powershell for all users when the image is built; I then copy the start menu folders to the %appdata% folder for the user logging on And copy the XML file to the local C: drive and force apply through GPO; which was created via a powershell export and pointed to %APPDATA% for all the icons. This, along with the GPO common programs gave me a working start menu with some additional folders (Windows Accessories and search)

Hi Alfatec, yes common programs are removed and Cortana is disabled - But I may have been pre-emptive saying it was working, I applied a policy to remove Zune Music and now the whole thing has broken; the XML file isn't populating the tiles and some folders on the start menu are unclickable; It seems GPO's in Windows 10 are as fragile as a house of cards....

Todays Update; I've tried to delete the folders with the command RD /S /Q "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Windows Accessories" But CMD prompt claims the directory doesn't exist, but when I browse there with CD I can see it???

Hi all, Joining in with windows 10 deployment I'm making good progress with our image - But have a couple of wierd issues; Firstly we can't disable the search function when you start typing on the start menu - Via GPO search functions or stopping services, has anyone achieved this? Also with the redirected start menu we can't get rid of the 'Windows Accessories' 'Windows Powershell' etc folders - Tried deleting them from the two locations with a batch file but with no luck, where are they stored?? %appdata%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu Regards,

Hi Lofarius - The GPO that was at fault in the end was 'Disable Font Download' (or simillar, I can't find the actual GPO anymore) being applied to student machines, hope that helps

I trialled using DelProf2 on Windows 10 but it always fails, I remember someone on here using another newer program that did work but can't for the life of me remember what it was called - Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks guys - that's interesting Skell, so in theory it just does the same as the official OneDrive app, fills up the HDD Is that something that can be avoided or bypassed? we have users with 120GB SSD's and over 1TB cloud storage. This is a bit of a big flaw by Microsoft, until the new OneDrive app fixes all our issues (We hope)

Hey All, We're looking for easy ways for our staff and students to utilise their OneDrives and OneDrive for Business client is causing all sorts of issues (Missing files, filling up SSD drives etc.) and I was recommended OneDrive mapper by liebensraum - Anyone have any experience of using this script? We are keen to find a solution that works like our users are used to (mapped drives etc.) but are wary as it's a third-party script. Has anyone got any feedback from a working environment before we take the plunge? Regards,

Hey All, I'm in the process of building a windows 10 image for staff and wondering if anyone has seen any issues with SIMS on windows 10 yet? I installed it and it seemed to work fine for me, but some of the legacy programs like NOVA and OPTIONS were a bit flakey, I'm guessing it's not fully supported yet but anyone have any useful knowledge to share? Thanks Steve, Yeah our filter lets them all through - all Office365 urls are whitelisted by default. Everyone also should have the same settings for Java, bypass proxy and prompt for unknown websites. I've narrowed it down to the User GPO's I think - but comparing the two they're nearly identical to the staff.

Just added it to the allowed list - Still nothing (I don't know if I'm barking up the wrong tree with the allowed list as staff don't have the exceptions and it still works for them)

Hey All, After migrating to office 365 we have an odd issue - Whenever students login on their profiles they are missing the pictures for the office icons It doesn't replicate across when they use their own machines, or if a staff member logs onto a students machine so it must be something to do with the GPO? Anyone seen behaviour like this before? I tried adding Office 365 to the trusted sites but no luck either

Hi All, We have an issue with our Smoothwall UTM - We recently set up a VLAN for our guest wireless using the DHCP of the Smoothwall box - It works fine, except when you try to access internal resources (The school website, our exchange server etc) I tried setting up some exceptions but nothing seemed to work. Any ideas anyone? Something obvious I'm missing?
