  1. Hey All, In amongst the extra workloads we all have recently I wanted to move away from these cheap video recorders they use in dance/drama/english etc. so I bought some cameras that record using the 'camera' app on Windows 10 The issue is a 30 minute video is upwards of 5GB+ so add in several departments and there's not enough space for everyone! I found a script here ages ago (thanks to MavHC) https://github.com/mavhc/shrink-video-recursive-python/blob/master/shrink-recursive.py But is there a way to set a gpo or regedit to make all videos record at a lower resolution? 720 instead of 1080 for example? Or even better, record them directly to Stream/OneDrive as we are still having them not upload the videos to the cloud. EDIT there's also these scripts; But I'm after a way of setting the default before the video is recorded.
  2. Oh I see... It's been a long day!
  3. Hi Mav, These are new boards, all up to date drivers; Though after testing for an hour or so I think I've cracked it, I needed to put a '1' not a '0' in Win8DpiScaling as this is what 'forces' windows to the 100% (96dpi) setting and greys out the option to change it. Hopefully it hasn't broken anything! Thanks again,
  4. Ok, so progress; The following registry entries always reset eveything back to 'recommended' And the following GPO greys out the 'fix blurry apps' dialog box https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/100793-turn-off-fix-scaling-apps-blurry-windows-10-a.html But still no override for (recommended) display options
  5. Hi All, MS have made my life difficult again. So it seems when you connect to a big touchscreen on my network (on extend) the DPI% changes to seperate values on each screen, so one screen can be 100%, the other 125% This isn't a problem until someone starts using the pen tool on the touchscreen and it doesn't match the powerpoint. I've tried all the regular fixes, but no joy - https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/5990-change-dpi-scaling-level-displays-windows-10-a.html Or better yet does anyone know how to set the advanced DPI settings via GPO or registry? The same thing does happen rarely on duplicate, but it's more consistent.
  6. After a manual sync and more tickboxes seems to be working now - cheers all I just wish Ms would stick to a pattern instead of this seemingly random roadmap
  7. I updated my WSUS server overnight with the cumulative update and I got 'Windows 10 Vibranium and later' instead of 1909.... What on Earth is Windows 10 vibranium ?? https://www.howtogeek.com/fyi/get-ready-for-windows-10-vanadium-and-vibranium/
  8. Hey All, I know a lot of people have moved away from WSUS, but I'm happy with my setup! Basically 1909 hasn't shown up on my classifications page yet; according to SCCM 1903 and 1909 share the same common core so updates are applied to both, but I wanted to check with everyone here before I ticked the box Has anyone else got 1909?
  9. Hi All, We are currently in surplus of some admittedly older model and varying quality Epson Projectors (Mostly EB-X11) And we are in need of some visualisers (HUE upwards) So anyone looking for a swap? Also happy to accept other offers, we are always after screens and toys/gadgets etc. https://www.epson.co.uk/products/projectors/mobile/epson-eb-x11 We also have a surplus of Promethean ActivBoards, though admittedly missing cables and brackets, pens etc. so these are worth a lot less but good for spares. They have serial and USB controllers, but not checked the USB compatability of them.
  10. Oh that's a good point - Though I thought it uses Macros in Office so no flash or java (?)
  11. I've had the same problem with Server 2019, especially after an update - running "sfc /scannow" seems to fix it. https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/4026529/windows-10-using-system-file-checker
  12. Hi All, Going through my proceedures and came across the old Flash and Java installs; Realistically with browsers like chrome dropping Flash support and Windows 10 having it inbuilt is there much point in installing the stand-alones anymore? I feel as more time goes by they open themselves up for more vulnerabilities. I mean, Oracle stopped supporting shockwave and MSI's for Java a while ago but we still install them for those 'legacy' apps (of which there are none now?) What are other people doing with this? Are you still installing a version of Java/Shockwave or Flash from an MSI/EXE or using the built in apps with W10? I can't help but feel with the launch of the new Edge browswer these programs are even more irrelevant.
  13. It's a nice chair but I'd have a hard time convincing management to get me this! As nice as it would look....
  14. Ok, the final command was: PowerShell.exe -NoProfile -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -File "[script_location].ps1"
  15. PowerShell.exe -ArgumentList '-NoProfile -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -File ""[script location].ps1""' -Verb RunAs I'll give it a try, thanks
  16. It's a legacy command to change the execution policy (I think, some time has passed since I last used this script) Long story short MDT likes CMD lines, but not powershell, hence a CMD to launch a PS1..... confusing right? So you think Will achieve the wait time when launched from CMd prompt?
  17. Forgive my ignorance; Where would that sit in relation to the code?
  18. Hi All, hopefully an easy one; I have a CMD prompt that calls a powershell script, but I need the CMD promt to remain open until the powershell is finished it's job - Is it a simple case of adding something like -wait at the end?
  19. True, I just don't like plain text keys. Speaking of this issue, I believe I've got it resolved; https://www.thelazyadministrator.com/2018/03/20/remotely-install-office-proplus-update-office-configuration-on-client-computers-with-powershell/ There's a powershell command you can alter to go to the remote folder: He's also got some funky other scripts, but the other key was apparantly So alter and add this PS line to your MDT and away we go
  20. Isn't the MSK/PID key saved in plain text so a user could in theory find it? This whole deployment seems like an afterthought
  21. XML file below (Edited for security) So I think ProPlus2019Volume is actually just Office 2019 pro plus PC install, and the switches for licencing are: "SharedComputerLicensing" Value="0" "DeviceBasedLicensing" Value="1" Device based licencing is MAK\PID key (?) and one of these options is W10 education only - But I can't remember which one!
  22. So another brainwave from MS, you can't create .msp files for Office 2019 - Instead you have to create (you guessed it) and XML file (starting to notice a pattern here) I've gone through the generator https://config.office.com/deploymentsettings And used the switch> Setup.exe /configuration "location of xml file" but it only works when these are copied (and launched) locally, not on a network share, and certainly not automatically via task sequence in MDT - Scratching my head on this one; generic error below
  23. Hi All, Is anyone else having issues with ECDL exams and Macros? We are trying to figure out if it's the Macro settings in GP that are causing the issue, basically the exams crash halfway through and won't allow anyone to continue. Some complain about Macros, other that dialog boxes are open. Moving computers or restarting the exams on a different day does nothing - Our GP for Macros in office has a couple of block, which I have temporarily turned off to see if they are causing the issue, I have also added the Z: drive (ECDL H: drive) to the trusted locations These are the policies I've turned OFF
  24. Really? I thought it was just a generic file eg.
  25. Common problem, no solution - Sometimes we get it, sometimes we don't, but no apps seem to reset; again pushing appassociations.xml via GPO - running 1803 here
