So we've had a calamity. I checked our Azure AD devices tab to find we had over 7000 devices (lucky us) While the majority were guest, home and laptops from lockdown we had several hundred doamin devices registered multiple times. So, along comes Mr. powershell and converts them all to hybrid devices (fine) and purports to delete devices over 180 days old Now, this failed dramatically as it not only deleted seemingly random devices, but all the hybrid PC's too. After a delta sync with the AAD tool I was able to bring them back, but now they're all stuck on 'pending' After a lengthy call with Ms support the only way to resolve this is to visit each machine individually and enter At an elevated CMD prompt, then wait for the delta sync, then wait for a user to login. You know where this is going, I don't want to manually do 800+ devices so has anyone any thoughts? I was thinking a trapdoor script to run the command at startup, but then it will remove all the ones that are not stuck on 'pending' Also, why on a Friday? Going to have nightmares about little Jimmys parents phoning up asking why the 'school laptop' no longer works....

So my WSUS server is playing up again, even with the awesome ajtek script - I decided to do a rebuild onto server 2022 but it still crashes with 'Server Node Error' even when thinking about only a few machines at a time. Anyone done the jump to ditching this frankly outdated method of updating? I know SCCM and Azure offer an alternative, but I don't really want to go through the bother of setting up SCCM just for WSUS (Still use WDS for new builds) I assume it's just a case of pointing the GPO to online windows instead of internally, but how to prevent 'windows as a service' updates and stick to the current version? what are peoples thoughts?

Hi All, I've been doing research into Chromebooks\android tablets as a cheap 'throwaway' 1-1 solution; Given cheap tablets come with a host of rubbish and chromebooks need you to sign-in I was looking at merging Google services and AzureAD apparently it is possible, but has anyone done it successfully? Hi All, As a prequisite we have 4 physical servers, traditionally I always believed a DC couldn't be virtualised, because the host would need to connect before the DC so therefore would cause issues (?) However I now know that's not the case; So my new theory is to purchase two new virtual hosts and have them replicate to each other, IE the whole cluster would run off 1 VM, then replicate to the second - Or split the servers in half, but replicate the other half onto the second if that makes sense. Hi All, I know this usually falls into a debate about classroom managment and censorship and such so with that said.... webgl unblocked games At the moment these seem to be just as bad as the old flash games, but these are things like 3D shooters, battle royale and other formats that probably shouldn't be played by younger students. Given this is the same as the classic 'unblocked games for school' without blocking each one what can we realistically do?

Dear All, Just wondering how you deal with digital poverty for your BYOD solution? I've been asked to look into using more tech in the classroom and at home, but my experience tells me to avoid laptops, tablets and such like the plague. With the advent of the smartphone I figured an easy solution would be to VLAN a WIFI network off, firewall it all off so you can only access educational apps and 'force' kids to join this. Of course this doesn't help the digitally impoverished, so how do you manage them? Do you have a bank of kit you loan out? If you do, does it have restrictions, or is it a 'free for all' with cheap tablets from c***a? I am always tempted by learnpads https://www.learnpad.com/ and their presence at BETT has grown substantially (when we were allowed outside) But these came with their own bespoke solutions, and as such, bespoke problems. Throwing money at the problem is all well and good, but we need a solution that works.

Hi All, Like most of you (I assume) we share our office with some kit which needs to be kept cool. Our old Air-con was set at 19 degrees but it never did this, but after being replaced it's now a fridge most days. I suggested having the temperature set to 21 during work hours, then back to 19 at night/weekends What temperatures do you all run at? Our cabinet often sits at a warm 28 Degrees (apparantly) and that's even if the air-con fails as it's got it's own fan system.

Hi Pete, After being left in the dark by Ubiquiti support I (think) I've bodged together a solution - I'm hesitant to post it here in case Ubiquiti get wind and lock down their products even more, but it's a solution nonetheless. Once bitten, twice shy I don't think I'll ever buy another Ubiquiti product, which seems a shame as they really have fallen from a great company over the last few years. Anyone who wants to know the solution can PM me of course

Yes, I've made them completely transparent to the firewall/filtering - It flashes up every so often connecting to: Internet is green and NVR is orange and spins for a while TBH they were working fine with around 50 cameras each for a month or so, but then both fell over at around the same time. Now after a factory reset one doesn't recognise any drives and support is no help. Hence my first action was to buy a new NVR, but I can't seem to get the G4 cameras into 'Standalone' Mode... I was tempted to talk to HikVision, but the government says that might not be a great idea.... hence Synology, but they are testing compatability with their kit for us

Hi All, Putting some feelers out as I've been burned by Ubiquiti - Long story short we trialed 30 G3 domes and that were fine, so we upgraded with another 60 G4 domes, without realising these didn't do standalone mode (and actually disabled standalone mode on the G3's with a firmware update) So we bought x2 Pro NVR's and they are terrible, they keep crashing/falling over/stopping services etc. Anyway, I'm throwing the whole lot out unless A) I can get the G4 domes working with Synology Surveilance Station or HikVision (no luck so far) B) I can RMA the entire lot (not looking likely) C) Someone with a Unifi setup that works wants 60 G4 Dome cameras for cheap (I'll even throw in the NVR PROS) I'm posting this elsewhere too, as hopefully an Edugeek has some ideas of help to get out out of this mess. Long story short, for sale, x60 G4 Dome cameras (maybe) happy to swap for G3 cameras as these do RTSP
