  1. Nope, still don't get it. What on earth did she ever do that in today's world she would had to tread carefully? I saw her live many times and she wasn't racist, sexist, or any other ist you could ever imagine
  2. What? Victoria Wood was a brilliant comedian who was one of the first funny women to be up there with the men - I don't understand your comment - she wasn't un-PC at all

    Shoes

Tredair are very good and last for ever. Most of the shoe/trainer styled steelies seem pretty good too. Cat don't last five minutes, nor do Wrangler
  4. Happy Birthday Ric
  5. Yeah, I remember. We always called it DEC though
  6. Usually Mainframes, so maybe most don't know them. I used to recruit for them, back in the day
  7. Not that I can comment on the growing or tending of a beard - but I much prefer a fairly short beard which follows the contours of the face. You also need to look at whether a full beard, or a goatee-type affair or anywhere in between suits you best. MrwITch has the whole thing - although it really is only where he doesn't shave - but he keeps it short. One son has a full, short, nicely trimmed beard and tache, and the other one has a tache and goatee-type affair which suits him better, it defines his chin and shapes his rather round face! Pay particular attention to how far up the sides of your face the beard comes. Really high beards look very silly IMHO. Good luck though, and why not
  8. Zootropolis. Quite good for what it is. More fun looking behind the main action - lots going on and beautifully put together
  9. Nah - I don't bake. I hang around at the beach, because I'm a.....wait for it... sand-witch ba boom tsh
  10. This is what my daughter has been looking at and she can't decide which one is best http://www.edugeek.net/forums/hardware/168357-gaming-high-spec-laptop.html#post1441377 Need advice if anyone missed that thread (hijacks this thread...oops - any advice post in the above thread, not this one!! )
  11. That would be so cool! Even our local "Link" magazine got in on it - we have a local path which used to be the railway - they published an article about the reinstatement of the railway using one of the steam engines from Swanage
  12. Kidney function going up is good Pain is not Hope it gets sorted soon x
  13. Doesn't sound good - hope it improves quickly. If it doesn't you will have to rest it and NOT try to run
  14. All staff is rarely used other than in genuine cases. The HT and I use it all the time but others only use it to ask or tell everyone something. I do NOT see them abusing it at all. The staff have created their own groups and use those to talk amongst themselves. We've never had a problem in either school - perhaps we are very lucky
  15. This is almost exactly what I have in my 350 pupil junior school. We run no VMs and no other servers. The only issue I have had is that it gets quite hot and we had to move it into the IT suite where there is air con

    Grants

We ask local big companies to help - eg fund matching, that sort of thing. It helps if you have parents etc who work there. Barclays have been very good to the local schools over the years - for us it is a huge local employer. Have you got anything like that? It is worth putting out a request to parents to see if their employers can help - quite a lot of companies do get involved with local schools and you never know what you might get!
  17. Our moodle broke some time ago and we haven't bothered to reinstate it as it is not used at all
  18. I had a brainwave and swapped out the non-imaging computer for one of the spare ones they sent us as a "gesture of goodwill" Worked first time...and now they are going to replace the whole thing. They have definitely decided that it is the monitors that are at fault and they are going to replace them - 8 at a time. Which is fine but yesterday it took me well over an hour to swap out the first 8. Dismantling it, taking the stand off, assembling new one (stand has changed so had to unpack new one, repacking old one etc. I know it doesn't seem like a long time but I am only paid for 3 hours and I wasted half of it doing this. A "gesture of goodwill" would be sending out a tech to give me a hand On the plus side, the monitor/pc combo that didn't work even though they replaced the monitor, works with the new one. So that is something
  19. This is all Fab. I shall be Snickering all day

Not going that far. He's selling it as is for £230. He has gone to the dark side and spent stupid money on a mac Where did I go wrong

Well, maybe, but it seems odd that the only issue is a small and really not bad fracture, only on some videos and mostly only on Chrome
  22. I don't. I'm term-time only and never here when the staff aren't If I get a laptop to mend I will always update it then. Same issue with pupil laptops - configuring is a real pain for the school. Not ideal, I know, and I have flagged it but nothing will be done I do keep the server up to date though!
