Just guessing... but probably along the lines of it finds a certain type of problem, which means there could be more errors that were previously hidden by the problem it found so goes back to check for them? if that makes sense?!

I'd probably go for the experienced one, too. I did Computational Physics at uni and was an "enthusiastic amateur" at home, taking PCs to bits and stuff... but pretty well everything (Edit: Relevant) I know I've learned by figuring it out on the job. I keep meaning to get some M$ qualifications at some point but ha ve never yet got round to it...

LOL I'm happy for you So they say Assuming I was just unlucky, then yes, that's all you're supposed to have to do you put it in and the drives go mental for an hour or so while it rebuilds itself.

Word to the wise though - EVEN if it's supposed to be hot swappable, DON'T if you can possibly avoid it - Our IBM X-226 was supposed to be - so I did, ended up with over 500000 lost files - Chkdsk tastic!

Attached is a handy little gadget for producing reports in word, assesment manager (as we use) or whatever else. Profiles in SIMS looks good, but I've never used it. Personally, I have no problem with sending out comment bank reports, or with giving the same report to several students as long as it's accurate for each one. trhelp.zip

Email in confirms price is the same for new computer count - still £25.76 each

Our School Agreement is due for renewal in June. We have 217 qualifying PCs and have been quoted £25.76 each to renew by our current supplier. Their quote was based on 196 PCs which was last year's count - I've asked them to requote for 217. Can any of you do a better price? If our current supplier comes back with a different price for this year's count I'll of course post it here to keep the playing field as level as possible. Thanks in advance

two suggestions here: 1 chuck them in the foundations of the new sports hall 2 (what actually happens at the mo!) A kid's making a "futuristic city" for his GCSE art project so they get hot glued together and used to make funky looking skyscrapers:D Seriously!

The PE department have come to me with a tricky little problem: They want to create a survey for all students, with questions such as "which sports clubs do you attend outside of school?", then for each one students attend they want to know how many hours they do it for each week. Trouble is, it's not a discrete data set. For "which SCHOOL clubs do you attend and for how long each week?" it's not such a problem. I've being trying to do it with a "choice" and a "Rating scale", without much success Can branching logic be used to do that? if so, how? Is there a better way of doing it than a "survey"? I really want to encourage them to use the VLE rather than a stack of paper and a calculator to do it - but I'm running out of ideas fast:confused:
