ICT Systems and Network Manager - Cambridge
jdibsdale replied to jdibsdale's topic in Educational IT Jobs
Its actually our LEA that enforces the ISA page, and we're moving away from the domain\username... So are you interested in the job or just commenting on the systems that we have in place?! -
We are currently advertising my role here at Sawston Village College, Cambridge as I am moving on in a few weeks. If you are interested in the job, and would like to know anything else please message me. Further details and application forms can be found at: Sawston Village College

Hi all Just wondering what other schools are using for network and server monitoring for performance, and failures? I have a few different tools but nothing great and would be nice to have everything together and preferably using a cheap or even better free set of tools! Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks, Jenny

Thanks GrumbleDook. I'm looking at both subject specific apps and ones that could work in all subjects like turning the iPad into a workspace that pupils can pass round with it displaying through the projector. I have found some subjects easier than others, I've found some good ones for Art, like Brushes, and I've been told there's a good pottery app too. Science, I love the Frog and Rat dissection apps and The Elements. Not being a teacher myself it's hard to know which areas can be improved with the iPad, but I at least want to find a few apps for each subject so I can get them started and excited about using it.

Can anyone recommend some good iPad apps that teachers are using in the classroom or a website that has some good recommendations? We've recently bought an iPad for school use, to see how we can integrate it into teaching and learning either as a teaching tool or a learning tool for the pupils or both.. or neither! We also want it to add another dimension to the classroom, rather than just using it for the excitement of using a new bit of technology and just replicating what you can easily do on a laptop. So far I've only installed lots of free apps but nothing has really excited me yet.

Do you mean on the "identity" page on the Configuration Profiles page? Everything is filled in on that page. Still nothing happens when I click a device and click install -
It always seems to be going wrong for me which is why I want to get rid of it! I also get frustrated on how long it takes to load all the users. I don't think I've ever cleared out the old data, there will be a couple of years worth in there. I'm purging it now.. but its taking a very long time. I'm getting a lot of faulting application PMPAdmin errors in the event viewer, it doesn't tell me much though apart from it's crashed!

Hi all We have been using PMP for quite some time, but have got so fed up with it not working i'm going to change to something else. However in the meantime i have not renewed the support and now have an issue with it typical!! It keeps crashing, just disappears and I have to open it again. Secondly the reports won't open it just keeps asking me do I want to save or open pmp_clientbilling.htm.. I may need to get in touch with them for support... just wondered if anyone had seen this issue?? Thanks, Jenny

Are you running it with local admin rights? Or try running "SIMSApplicationSetup.exe" to install clients, as the SIMSINST calls this file. I've had a lot of problems with Windows 7 but not XP.

Ladies - What Route did any of you take to get into IT?
jdibsdale replied to Advocate's topic in General Chat
I started out working in an office doing an admin role, soon realised it wasn't enough for me and so I started taking evening classes, first Word, Excel, Desktop Publishing etc.. then did Visual Basic programming, then NT networking practical course which got me a job as an IT Technician in a school, am now on my 4th IT role, as an IT Manager. Orange safeguard deems this page as only being suitable for over 18's! I might be able to get to it over WiFi later but not via 3G
