Included in my email signature is the phrase "Response by email preferred" and for any tricky stuff like that I usually remove the phone number from it. Do you use an LEA proxy? if so, and the rest of the LEA does as well, Google sees oodles ;)of requests coming at it from the same IP and thinks it's being spammed. I think our LEA (via CLEO) had to get in touch with them to explain that it wasn't the case and it was just lots of legitimate requests coming through the same server as it had hundreds of schools behind it. I'm looking at buying full SQL Server 2005 for Sage / SIMS to improve performance on the new server(s) I'm going to order over the next few months. Microsoft pricing is so complicated I thought I'd check here first rather than confuse a supplier, as I'm more likely to get an answer in English! Am I correct in thinking that there are two ways of licensing SQL Server? 1) Buy a "processor" license for about £700 (do I need 4 for a quad core?) 2) Buy a license at about £140 and then a CAL for each workstation for about £20 We have a Microsoft School Agreement and buy anything that's not covered by that on Education Select. I don't suppose for one minute the CAL is part of the School Agreement package is it?

Can anyone supply me with COMPATIBLE or REMANUFACTURED photoconductors for epson aculaser C1100's? IMHO "Obstructing the free flow of traffic" should be an offence in it's own right and carry 3pts (and enforced by cameras:eek:) just like speeding, going through red lights etc, and poor lane discipline should be a contravention of it as should overtaking in a lane that is signposted as closing ahead, such as when approaching roadworks. Just think how many holdups and therefore accidents would be avoided if it was.

I just use an ordinary sharepoint list with columns carefully chosen as shown below, and a custom default view showing staff "unresolved" (to indicate how busy we are - ie how much I have on) cases and any cases logged by themselves regardless of status. Through the dim mists of time, I seem to remember that CTFs from other MIS's (to SIMS) have different address tags that those from SIMS... they use , etc rather than , or whatever SIMS uses. It could be that... worth a shot. We don't have trouble with Porn here either; Porn and very inapropriate stuff rarely makes it past the LEA filters. If any's likely to, I usually hear about it here first, block it locally, then inform the LEA - hence the value of a thread like this. Cheers folks I knew I could rely on you lot downloaded and installed all three - in the end I used Media Converter which is dead easy to use and even did a batch conversion so I could do all 104 files at once. Brilliant! Head of PE is now inserting the videos into his presentation.

This has probably been asked before, and will be again. Is there an easy (,free) way to convert .MOV files created by a digital camera to an .MPG file, or something that Powerpoint 2007 (or 2003) and Vista (or XP) will play, out of the box, automatically, with no hassle?! Currently, VLC will play the files a bit jerkilly, Media Player doesn't want to know and powerpoint shows a black box. I guess I'm missing a Codec or two. That's probably fixable, but I'd rather have some way of converting the files though, rather than having to install the Codecs on several hundred computers.

well, the last set of PCs I bought were about a third of the price of those HPs What sort of thing do you need them to do? is it basic 11-16 ICT, in which case the above is total overkill and basically any industry standard entry level system for £200 or less will do, or do you need much more oomph for video editing, media work etc, in which case they'd be great? Personally, I would write next to each one "except where necessary in the course of my duties", sign the bottom and write "subject to ammendments" below your signature. That should cover you. First thing to check is that the users can "see" the wallpaper image from a workstation and that it's where the GPO expects it to be. If they can, run gpupdate /force and reboot. if neither of those fixes it, it's a case of double (or triple!) checking each of the steps above - it has to be one of those that's not quite right.
