I get this problem with various usb pen drives on my Intel Mac as well. It seems to be a particular problem with some of the newer Kingston 4GB drives, in particular, those coloured blue that "fold out". Doesn't happen on any other types. Can't mount it on the Mac which replies with a message that the drive is not readable, but it mounts fine on windows systems. You may not have an OS problem but rather its just the usb pen. Back up the pen data and try reformatting it - it's worked for me. Also, some pens using a compression utility which starts on insertion, this is windows based software and has the same effect that you have been noticing on the Mac. Hope that helps

Has anybody taken a look at the access permissions required by the Classroom Monitor Exporter software for SIMS? Perhaps it's me being paranoid but its asking for some very powerful access rights - Personel Officer, School Administrator, Senior Management Team. Any opinions? Thanks.

Thanks Geoff. Thought it might be a usb problem. To be honest, I hadn't given it a lot of thought because the print servers are all quite old machines (pentium 800's) and were running Ubuntu 7.04 (with all available updates applied) quite happily.... Will follow up your urls though.

I'm running Ubuntu 9.04 with a HP P3005 Laser Printer attached via USB. Ubuntu picks up the printer and installs fine. Problem occurs when try to print. Send test page to printer is ok, job appears in print queue and then prints out, send second test print to printer, job appears in print queue but no printing. Message appears at bottom of queue "HP Laserjet P3005 may not be connected". Switch printer off and on and job then prints out. Further print jobs encounter the same problem. I've had this problem since Ubuntu 7.10 with this printer. The HP 2550 also attached to this computer bia usb works ok, as does the HP 1160 on a different system also running Ubuntu 9.04. I need to get this working as I urgently need to upgrade from 7.04 to 9.04 on all the schools printservers. Further Notes: Downloaded and installed HPLIP 3.9.4b but made no difference. However, printer works fine if you use the parallel ports.... Thanks (in anticipation)

Thanks Yup, I remember that one, 'twas many moons ago though.... Problem now is that worked for CTF 7 but we are using CTF 8. Will check the CTF files manually for this though....

GrumbleDook It sounds like one of the fields have been exported with naff data (ie empty) when it requires an entry. An example would be UPN where a temporary / local UPN can be generated if it is blank. I think the problem is more with that school's setup of integris and it may be worth getting the school to call RM about it. Yup, thought that would be the case as we've had this problem before..... Matt40k I think this is welsh problem, I think patch 12996 solves it. Something about EALAcquisition ? Is this patch available through SOLUS or do I have to hunt for it? Thanks to Both

Got a problem when attempting to import CTF files received via S2S from Feeder Primary Schools. Primary schools are running Integris. Error message goes something along these lines :- "An application fault has occurred. 9871-5157-9000. Cannot insert the value NULL to column..." After which SIMS crashes out. Import works ok for CTF files sent from other secondaries (running Integris and SIMS) so assuming it's a problem related to feeder schools only but...... Any one else seen this error? Thanks in advance for any ideas ('cos SIMS ain't got many... and I really don't want to send them a sample CTF via e-mail).
