  1. Anybody watched the Salisbury Poisonings on iPlayer? Shocking, and fascinating having been so close (I stayed in the college on the edge of the cathedral grounds) at the Edugeek event last year. So close to the school!
  2. My 4 year old has been trying to learn Spanish since lockdown began. He still can't say "please" though which I think is poor for four?
  3. Not that I've found. There are various reports you can run but they're too generic - ie users logging in to Teams - that's as much as you get. I did see a project somewhere trying to achieve this but it's not done yet and is still in development.

    Teams chat

We started off disabling 1-1 pupil chat but it's a massive barrier to pupil engagement and well being, so we're now enabling it. What everyone was doing was setting p private channels for pupils with 2 staff. Sometimes private Teams where staff didn't want extra channels in their Teams. This is hugely unwieldy, and offers no benefits over chat. Bullying is the main concern but we're disallowing deletion of messages and can easily check what's been said.
  6. We've done it. Broadcaster needed the full app. Played clips. We were told that everyone in the authority was doing it!
  7. We've just re enabled chat because it was causing lack of engagement with pupils. We tried using private channels but that is hugely unwieldy. A tiny minority of staff willingly engage in channels and only ALN pupils get a channel by default, well sometimes they do. Staff add a second adult for safeguarding. Pupils can't delete chats. We've had no issues with group chats. There seems to be a huge lack of admin access to a lot of aspects of Teams.
  8. Timetabler have produced guidelines with some interesting ideas: https://www.timetabler.com/covid-19/ I think a standard timetable will work for us. Sets for those subjects that use them plus Option subjects. As long as all classes are populated to Teams we can work on a reduced timetable from that
  9. UK parliament are having the same problems. Sleeping on the job. Letting their kids vote on motions...
  10. Just mute would be enough
  11. Is this possible? To disable chat in Teams outside school hours? Rather than teachers having to mute chat out of hours. I don't know if that's possible globally/ across all of a teachers Teams. I suppose that also might include all notifications from Teams. Our students seems to be online at all hours of the night posting to classes.
  12. I hear we're all to be forced over. I'd love to hear something positive from those that are already moved over. It can't be as bad as we all think it is can it?? It's all about primary support from where I'm standing. "Hwb meets" have nothing for secondaries. It's a big sales push to primaries. j2e must be laughing all the way to the bank.
  13. We use Hwb for testing, and host everything our School Governors do on there. Our Head of IT uses j2e with our lower years but that only results in confusion for the learners in my opinion. Erw apparently wanted us to host our Teams delivery on there but that message wasn't passed down from the local authority. We dirsync from our Local Authority domain so O365 is a single sign on. Oh.. and want School Data Sync to auto create Teams in Hwb? Sorry, no can do. In my ignorance I've pushed for integration of LA tenant and Hwb but the LA have been unwilling. Probably because of the nightmare you refer to. I feel sorry for the learners coming up from primary school having been taught to use Hwb email. It even confuses our teachers. The Head of IT will ask me to change Hwb password for email! [emoji3061] I wish Welsh Government would wake up and stop wasting money. Many schools in our county have O365 paid for 3 times. I posted this picture on social media recently that kind of highlights the problem.
  14. It looks like a Logitec C930e No makings on the camera The speaker is a Jabra Model PHS002W The headset is pretty fancy too. We did have a Yamaha Monitor Speaker and a desk mic but had problems with those and switched.
  15. As an LA run scheme to run 6th form classes in our remote area we have a PC with camera and speaker attached to and interactive TV running Teams. This runs across schools to save on transport costs. Logitech webcam, Jabra desk speaker. Headphones for the teacher on their laptop. Works ok. We had an advisory from the LA this week about Zoom "Zoom…… One of the most popular video conferencing apps in use during COVID-19 Council Staff can join in Zoom meetings hosted by others as a guest. When joining use the web version rather than installing the client software"
  16. Fantastic! Thanks guys.
  17. Hi I have admin staff wanting access to most if not all teams and it's impractical to add them one by one. I have a request to add one person to all Year 10 classes to see what work has been set. (Unless there's another way to do this?) That's 56 classes. I'm sure I'll get more of these requests. Is there a way to do this efficiently? Thanks
  18. Same. I'd forgotten. [emoji106][emoji106]
  19. We're trying. HoY7 creates lots of info gathering forms which has been a nice introduction. Printing for families without web access isn't well supported in MS Forms but it is possible with extended screenshots. You're also limited in the amount of text for legal type forms.
  20. We were told that WG wanted stats on attendance at Teams classes so we asked Hwb support. They wanted the HTs approval first. I asked if it was possible without having to bother the head and they said no [emoji1787] Microsoft were much more obliging. Pointed us to backend reporting, then signing in to Teams events in the logs. Suggested PowerBI but we gave up at that point. Used the Insight app in Teams to gather some stats. Have had a few blocks from Hwb support like that over the years. Usually helpful but always protracted. Interested to see how you find it after the move.
  21. Not heard of any sorry. I think they give free trials and some of the resources are free and pretty good for any timetabler anyway. Shame about the comic sans yes indeed haha [emoji16]
  22. 75% anti green bull and 25% correct on travesties such as bio fuel. Deliberate or ignorant pro corporation sensationalism.
