Hi all, We've had Huawei 4G Wireless LTE Router that came preloaded with data (from the dfe covid days). We also had a number of SIMS that seem to have become stale and no longer activate in the router. This thing has been a godsend for us for testing and general troubleshooting, esp when we had issues with staff/student personal devices not working with systems etc. Do any of you have any recommendations on a suitable cellular router and data plan. Purly Data. The sims came preloaded with 24GB and we've also used the router to perform OS updates on chromebooks in some instances. cheers

When we had to retire an old physical File server to a vm (without downtime) we used DFS and had two servers synchronising data. The initial share names and permission were intact. So \\OldServer\user_docs was also accessible via \\domainname.net\user_docs I was able to create a new virtual file server, have both servers set up with distributed file shares and retire the "old" server once all everything had sync'd over. you'll have to make sure all your shares are pointing to domain name for shares and not a server name. https://www.manageengine.com/products/desktop-central/how-to-setup-windows-dfs-share.html I used this method as i needed to physically retire a server box, otherwise i would have done an inplace update with scheduled downtime. We now use dfs shares with one VM file server (now the old physical box is retired). Only thing i would say, its you learn very quickly that sharing via a server name is a pain in backside. We kept our folder structure the same. so it went from \\file-server\share_name to \\domain.net\share_name we made the changes to any mapped shares BEFORE we retired the old server so that they were accessible during migration

We seems to be having this issue today It seems to be limiting the number of streams that can originate from our site. Some users are fine others not so lucky.

Hi all, Anybody using Sage Intacct? https://www.sage.com/en-gb/sage-business-cloud/intacct/ We've been looking at moving away from sage, and the Business manager has contacted me to say that sage have just offered her "Sage Intacct". She said the guy confirmed that it is 100% Web based....... Does anybody know if this is web hosted like sage 200 is, or if it just needs a browser? Like here's a Chromebook have at it. Looking at their site, there's not much technical stuff i can find. We're also a Bromcom School, so i like the idea of that. Not sure if that's even 100% web browser based at this point either! The parent and students apps are used massively here (Bromcom). We came from SIMs. We use the apps as a payment gateway also so that parents have one app to credit their children's cashless accounts, see homework and they can also communicate to the school through it. They can also self serve with regards to updating details like address, phone and email. We got rid of so many 3rd party systems!

We've always done in place domain updates. I've been here 15 years and remember running server 2003........ currently looking to jump from 2019 to 22 so it makes sense that it's just evolved over the years. I remember having 15+ physical servers with individual roles, going it Hyper-v replica nodes, to now having a 3 node S2D cluster with 15+ servers with individual roles

I was testing our backups as you do, with the servers and restore points randomly selected. In this instance, the two domain controllers were selected and their restore points of approx 6 months ago. We'd of course select the most recent restore point if this was a "real" restore. One of these DCs is a physical the other a virtual. We have a old retired hyper-v server we use to test our restores and recoveries to. Both Dcs were restored to this as virtual servers. The restore went fine, but both DCs failed to boot displaying BSOD. This confused me as a month before we did a full disaster recovery and everything booted and was fine. after doing research, i discovered the BSOD was related to DC "Tombstoning" which was a totally new thing to me!. Our DC Tombstoning is set to which apparently is from server 2003 days. Our domain is 23 years old then! I found this article which explains how to check and change you're tombstoning period. we're running a xg 430 here (almost ready for retirement) lows of 40% ish and highs of 80% ish with https decryption enabled highs of 60% ish with it off 1400 students 130 staff 35 fw rules 8 ssids 7 web filter rules IPS enabled Application control enabled Https decryption is a cpu hog. the XGS range are better at this. hope that helps

Yep we had this issue. Bromcom (at the time) offered a piece of software that was installed on computers (so not cloud based) to do timetables. Its now moved into the cloud and is native.

We moved from SIMs to Bromcom. The hardest thing was changing users mindset. You simply don't do things the same way in Bromcom than you did in SIMs. Bromcom can be a pain sometimes......normally small episodes of it running slow in a morning or evening. It does tons more than SiMs ever did. We're totally happy that we went with Bromcom and would ever ever consider going back to SIMs. Bromcom has also had more features and updates in the past 2 years we've had it, than SIMs ever did in our 18+ years of using that. Also, saves us lots of time and money not having to maintain a server a do the dreaded solus updates! It would be unfair for me to comment on Arbor and we only had it during a testing/review period. Users here prefered the "look" of Bromcom...... #endusers

The "uplink" would also need to be a Trunk port if you're using multiple Vlans wouldn't it?

We had a similar issues with our Sophos XG. ended up being https inspection on; verkada-video-cell0-eu-west-1.s3.amazonaws.com verkada.com we also created a Firewall and nat rule for each of the devices also. not sure if that will help you.

Longest time for a reply goes to me...... Was this update done inplace onan active cluster? Did you just drain the node. inplace OS update and re-add to the cluster? how did the cluster handle different OS versions? cheers
