  1. so do i delete the old copy job first or after i've created the new one? Or doesn't that matter?
  2. Thanks for this. I think this is where i'm confused. I can't seem to find any documentation on the process of change from the Legacy "copy back-up" to the new ones.
  3. We've updated here. Only warning we got as part of the update was the 'Backup copy Jobs' have been improved. Not sure why i need to change anything if they continue to work as expected. We basically have a backup copy job that 'Copies' the Hyper-v VMs from our San storage to a 'offsite' NAS device. Veeam displays these jobs as legacy. I can't seem to find any real answer via the link provided. Anybody else had this? Cheers
  4. We haven't had any issues when Bromcom goes down. From what i understand, the civica system stores transactions locally until connection to bromcom is restored and it just sorts itself out. We've had the odd individual account that has had a balance issue. But civica support tend to sort that ASAP
  5. We use Bromcom and Civica here. no issues.
  6. and what's this group called?
  7. I missed this also.... and now i can't find where to manage the shared drives in the admin panel...... it seems to have moved (again) Can we increase the 200GB shared drive limit? EDIT: found it! under "workspace storage" on the main admin page
  8. it wouldn't be hard for them to include a "Join via web" option tho
  9. Happy it worked for you. I can't take credit tho, it's burried on one of their sites lol https://support.goto.com/webinar/help/how-do-i-join-a-webinar-from-a-browser
  10. I think the covid lockdown was the nail in the coffin for us with regards to SIMs. We became very aware needed a MIS that was Web based to compliment our web based working. We could have totally operated remotely. when able, we had to have a small team onsite to access SIMs (and maintain it along with the machines that ran it ). We only needed remote access due to SIMs, and that got removed in light of the malicious attempts around that same time. So SIMs became site access only..... and people didn't like that.......
  11. We had been using SIMs for over 20 years and were used to it. However, after switching to Bromcom, the change has been a no-brainer. Bromcom offers more features than SIMs and with the staff app, staff can access MIS from their pockets from their Google work policies. We have also saved money by eliminating third-party apps/subscriptions that Bromcom can handle natively. The web-based system has eliminated the need for SIMs updates and backups, making it a game changer. However, there has been a huge learning curve for most staff, despite training. Some staff members may resist change and say "It worked on SIMs" or "It's too complicated." This is a result of breaking old habits, like the transition from Office to Google. Some staff may also find it difficult to adjust, as evidenced by a staff member who left because of the change. Leadership must be on board for a smooth transition and to help break old habits. Our move from SIMs to Bromcom has not been without challenges, but the benefits outweigh them. We do not miss SIMs and would not go back to it. Although the move to Bromcom has been stressful, mainly due to internal issues, we do not regret it. Bromcom has received more feature updates in the last 18 months than SIMs ever did. Moving to other MIS options such as Arbor may have similar challenges.
  12. We have always used Bromcom's SMTP service. We've also started to hit our limit within the week all of a sudden.
  13. Right-click the Join Webinar button in your email and Copy the Hyperlink. In a web browser , paste the Join link. At the end of the URL, type in "?clientType=html5" (without the "") and hit Enter. Note: The Join link should look similar to h ttps://global.gotowebinar. com/join/2057328506543456534099723/930505186?clientType=html5. This link is not a real webinar but an example! The webinar will launch in the browser.
  14. Good Bromcom! Stupid Microsoft! https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-64397643
  15. Struggling to find a replacement keyboard for these. Anybody recommend a UK supplier for Chromebook spares? Tied amazon, and eBay's a no go for us. Cheers
  16. Yes i'm fully aware of this. My post is regards to emails being sent even though 'push notification' is only set. A couple of people on the Bromcom community page are reporting a similar thing, in that they have started to receive SMTP exceeded notifications and/or emails are being sent instead of push notifications. Thought i just post here to see if others have experienced that same thing, as there's a probability that people on here are from a Technical background vs the members that might post on the Bromcom community. We haven't actually confirmed this on our site yet (hopefully tomorrow). But it would explain why we started to receive SMTP notifications all of a sudden.
  17. You guys getting SMTP exceeded notifications since just before xmas? Just looking into a possible issue where even though communication is set to use a 'Push' notification (where a parent has registered) , it sends an email. With started to receive SMTP exceeded notifications and just presumed it was a staff training issue. I'm still waiting on confirmation here, but two other school have confirmed they have this issue. Anybody in the same boat? EDIT: it's not down as a known issue on their site. Cheers
  18. This did fix the issue. i wanted to give the user read only access to historical addresses. The only way i see to give them access to historical addresses is via the edit pencil, which as you have explain requires edit/save permissions. Thanks for this
  19. As a admin user, i can see a students historical home address via the little 'edit pencil' next to their email address. I'm trying to add this ability to a role we have here, but i can't find the permission i need. Here's the icon i'm trying to make appear on the role in question (taken from Bromcom's public support page) The support page: https://docs.bromcom.com/knowledge-base/how-to-view-the-student-details-profile-page/#:~:text=Moving%20the%20mouse%20pointer%20over,Additional%20Details%20or%20Previous%20Names. Mentions permissions the role already has. tried the good olde cookie clearing trick! Anybody got any pointers before i book a ticket.......
  20. VirtualBoy? Its the red/black that's confusing me.
  21. Of a well known brand such as Nintendo/atari or something totally random?
  22. Is it a games cart of some kind?
  23. Yeah i did notice that. I'm surprised we haven't had this issue sooner if i'm honest. It's a pain i can't find anything official. Cheers
  24. We've had some phones bought for some staff. However they have Android GO. I'm having trouble registering them against our Google 'Work' profile. Is Android Go support for this feature? I've had a google and can't find anything official. Phone is a Moto e30 Android 11 (GO). Anybody managed to register a Android Go device? Same issue as here: https://apps.google.com/supportwidget/articlehome?hl=en&article_url=https%3A%2F%2Fsupport.google.com%2Fa%2Fthread%2F152689267%2Fnetwork-error-on-google-apps-device-policy%3Fhl%3Den&assistant_id=generic-unu&product_context=152689267&product_name=UnuFlow&trigger_context=a Cheers
  25. Howt wrong with that. That's how it all starts! 26 years ago i started on Gran turismo on the PSX (or playstation 1) with the 'new' dualshock controller. Now my setup is worth more than my real car!...... but still cheaper than real racing...... and i get the pause for toilets breaks and restart if i bend the car Although i did dislocate my thumb on it last year!
