If the room's got a high ceiling you'll probably be fince since you can mount the projector higher to get it out of her line of sight. However if the room is lowish then you might be in trouble.

What happens when you manually set it to gigabit in the switch's managment console? Have you got the latest firmware on the switch? Are you just connecting the two with a patch cable, or is there a cable run involved. Not being able to achieve gigabit can often indicate a wiring fault since only two of the four pairs are used for 100m/b. Gigabit uses all 4.

Bung the MSi on a share where everyone has read permission. Then make a new Group Policy Object. Edit the object, find Computer Configuration, Policies, Software Settings, Software Installation.
