  1. You can do this with exchange 2010, you actually do it using the disclaimer feature. It has a wildcard system for adding names and job titles (which will need to be in Active Directory). EDIT: Now with linky goodness http://www.msexchange.org/articles_tutorials/exchange-server-2010/migration-deployment/using-disclaimer-exchange-server-2010.html
  2. It has been tempting. School politics can really take on another level when you've got a Siamese twin. EDIT: Especially one that steals your patch cables.
  3. We share it with another school. EDIT: We share a campus with another school, it's not like we have the switch Monday to Wednesday and they have it for the rest of the week.
  4. HP warranty is good, but not perfect. I've had to RMA 2 and a half HP switches. One went fine, one they sent out the wrong replacement due to their web site not listing the correct switch (though since I gave them the serial number the should have noticed this). The last one took a couple of days because there was no replacement stock in the UK.
  5. It might be worth having a look at Gamemaker. I found version 6 works better then newer version on our setup. Old Game Maker Versions - YoYoGames Wiki If you've got photoshop of something similar you could also mess about with photos, teach them how to make the headteacher's face green perhaps.
  6. Have you looked into any CCTV gear,
  7. Sorry for digging out an old thread. Just letting you know the JCB phone have been a grade A disaster. 3 out of 4 have failed in a few months.
  8. Try downloading the latest version of remote desktop for XP. Failing that you need to change some setting on the 2k8 server. Computer > Properties > Remote Settings > Change the setting to 'Allow Connections from computers running any version of Remote Desktop'.
  9. Have you checked for any licensing issues with Smart Notebook, at one time Smart required you to buy an additional license if you were using it with a competiors IWB.
  10. If you're using those check they don't obstruct removal of the filter. At my last school we had 15 of them, projectors had to be taken down to clean filter.
  11. Keep to channels 1, 6 & 11. Try to keep nearby APs on different channels. Details here; 802.11b WiFi Frequency Channels EDIT: Standalone APs will only work so well in a school environment, you should investigate a managed solution like Aruba, Meru or Ruckus
  12. That does explain why Windows 95 was slow and had difficulty understanding new technology.
  13. One night in Bangkok by Murry Head also has a fairly good intro.
  14. You can always power it up without a hard drive to see if the mobo is still good, even if the PSU is the wrong size.
  15. We've found the NEC M260X fits the same throw as our old VT56 and Tosh T95. Won't fit the same brackets however. Have a look here NEC NP-M260X Projection Calculator - Throw Distance and Screen Size
  16. Surely it's got to be either Eye of the Tiger by Survivor or Final Countdown by Europe.
  17. Have you checked to see if it's mentioned in the property survey.
  18. Disconnect it and see who complains.
  19. Do you seriously think wireless ones will fair any better. They will either be swapped around or disappear completely. It's quite clear there's a problem with supervision of students, you need to be talking to management about how the room is managed.
  20. Edugeek gave away some 'Emergency Launch Devices' at BETT a few years ago. They're just a single USB button that executes a key combination to launch the web site. They were provided by the USB Company, but they don't seem to do them anymore.
  21. There might be other considerations, I know someone who got a ticket for 61 in a 60 zone. What he didn't realise is the van he was driving was subject to a lower speed limit.
  22. The trouble with replacing the logic board is it'll need to be an exact match. I'd speak to a few data recovery companies, and see how much they charge if they can't get the data back.
  23. Might be worth a look here; PePiPoo: Helping the motorist to get justice But really you have to wait and see. How does she know she's been caught, have she received a NIP or was she pulled over.
  24. We've got uniservity, as a user experience it's somewhere between a caravan holiday and being stabbed in the eye with a compass.
  25. Are there any dead shortcuts in the startmenu? I've found these slow the startmenu right down.
