Bare in mind the 600 series is no longer top dog, the new 800 series has a hard surface and also lets you use more then one pen at once.

If you're using a smart USB to serial you might need to reinstall the drivers if someone has swapped the USB port. It might even be worth using the method here to remove all instances of the driver.

I will add you are also taking a risk, if you write a cheque to someone who uses the same bank as you (and I'm talking about the same branch) they can clear quicker.

The big thing is cheque guarantee cards have been withdrawn which now means cheques aren't secure enough for retail use. I think they will remain for a few more years for business transactions but slowly be replaced by BACs. I doubt I write one cheque a year. My credit card does that.

Wilkinson aren't too bad value for SD cards (I got a basic Sandisk 4GB for £10), it might also be worth having a look in Tesco.

Toshiba happily repaired a laptop that had been etched.

Does your DT department have a laser cutter? We etch our school name and postcode onto the lids of every new laptop.

EDIT: They use external PSUs like laptops, we managed to hide ours under the desks.

We've got HP DC7800/DC7900 ultra slims with the integrated work stand (and some older DC7600/7700s). Very happy with them, however they do use laptop CD drives which I'd imagine small kids would find tricky. That said I can't think of an occasion when our student need to use the drives.

I'm not sure the 6 button ones will, but the 3 button ones definitely do. If you haven't got them already get Phycho Fox & Wonder Boy 3 the dragons trap. Both fantastic.

Nothing yet, DK2 did work under XP untill I installed a graphics card. DK sort of works under DosBox, but has big slowdown issues on the later levels. I've been meaning to build a Windows 98SE virtual machine for these things.

Both great games, in that clan you also have the brilliant Theme Hospital. Transport Tycoon was brilliant, if you loved it give Open-TTD a spin. The signalling has been much improved and you can play online. Stepping away from stratergy, you gotta love Lucasarts adventures stuff.

Just bare in mind a Pajero will have been imported secondhand, this can make tracing the car's history tricky. The UK model is the shogun.
