Tool to find a replace a file on multiple (hundreds) of workstation
K.C.Leblanc replied to Oaktech's topic in Wired Networks
Actually you can just install Group Policy Management on any server running 2008. EDIT: Robocopy and a bit of scripting is another way to do it. -
No one here has twin screens, although I was thinking about doing it. At the moment I use an old laptop as my second screen.

BT Infinity - Do any Geeks out there have it?
K.C.Leblanc replied to m25man's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Our head has just got BT Infinity, he's having issues with our OWA and RDP. We did some googling and it seems it's a known issue. -

More to the point who thought it was a good idea to stop showing Ice Road Truckers mid season.

I think so, I lost the paper part of my drving license. When I needed a hire car and the tab was being picked up by someone else's insurance the hire company phoned the DVLA while I was on the line, to confirm my license. However when I need to book a hire car for something else it was impossible.
-
Is it a normal car, or something that requires an additional licence?

Norfolk Police locate riot looter.

It might also be worth finding out what the deal is with filters. If it's in a hall it's not just a case of climbing on a table (that's our code word for an HSE approved step ladder ).

We have 2, however it's a bit special. We share a 6th form with another school. There's an extra domain which has a one way trust with both school's domains, it host a shared drive that's available to teachers in both schools. We'd binned the separate admin domain long before I started here, over 4 years ago. My last school merged their networks 5 years ago. It's a throw back from when you had no dedicated IT staff, you'd have a curriculum domain operated by the head of IT and and an admin network ran by the business manager.

I'd love to see that happen here.

Erm, this has been going on for years. I don't think the media has ever treated an MP like a god for flaunting their wealth.
-
Agreed, the trouble is unless they build new prisons it's not likely.

No, the entire world [evil laugh].

It also didn't help that the stories didn't connect very well either. I love the film, but the book I can do without. I do however like The Acid House tales. Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy is well worth a read.

Projectors - new lamp or new projector?
K.C.Leblanc replied to dgsmith's topic in AV and Multimedia Related
We always replace the whole unit. Too many experiences in the past where changing the bulb hasn't improved performance. -
We only have one music room so the keyboards have to be usable a standalone keyboard without the computer as well.
-
We do, all it involves is making sure we get a good deal when the contract is renewed, booking out phones for trips, and buying ugly JCB phones for the site team because they keep breaking the Nokias.
-
The only equipment we mark is laptops. We use the DT departments laser cutter to etch the lids.
-
Maybe you're thinking of sibelius?
-
We've got a very similar setup in our music room, it works very well. Only issues we have is with our Yamaha keyboards which use their own built in USB midi controller instead of having standard midi connectors. If someone unplugs one and plugs in into a different usb port it need to reinstall the driver. The driver is unsigned so this has to be done by an administrator. Only a problem because the little monsters fiddle with the cables.
