I did spot that one but being as next door and all... Don't think we had any spelling mistakes on the stand but may have been a mistake by a contractor that needed some quick macgyver style fixing on the setup days... Russell

Hi Only time ever seen that really is on terminal servers and funny enough we put a fix on a site Wednesday night and seems to have solved it. On the laptops do you use fast user switching. The fix will be part of the next release. -

Classroom Management in Alberta - Hard Sell
russdev replied to julyan1's topic in Network and Classroom Management
Hello Sorry I missed this post first in case not obvious I work for Impero (most people know but as you are new thought better be up front). The problem with any type of software like Impero is perception you for yourself have seen the useful side in terms of network management. However at moment as you said they are seeing it as software to control the students vrs software to enable the school. 1) First things first take advantage of the free remote training on offer if haven't and get our training guys to show you how a teacher can use Impero. 2) Next think about issues the school are facing got talk to teachers start to map the features with in Impero and where they can solve your teachers issues. 3) Find the teacher champions look at what teachers can help you spend sometime with the software with them and training them, discuss how they can use them. A few things you need to start to focus on. Look at e-safety angle and education side for example software can be set block very bad sites but others where you want to a more pro-active education stance can be set to alert but allow students to access the website. Look at screen and action menu and how those tools can be used by teachers for example the send, collect file, exam module. Lock screen is a great example I used all time in fact when I was working in schools we used screen locking feature all the time. An example giving students a timed period to do the work and locking screen at end of time. It helped students understand time management an important skill when comes to exams. Also bring it back to e-safety laws within Canada the fact they even if nothing was blocked everything is logged so there is a record of what has happened. The all round logging of Impero is probably another aspect to focus on. As while you can log the internet not all things happen on internet. An example we had a call from a network manager a teacher had seen student viewing something porn on internet as entered the room but had closed it down. They had checked the logs nothing they knew date, time, machine and user nothing in the web logs. They phoned us and we looked at the logs for the whole system not just the internet and low and behold the windows caption and application logging showed they had access pictures on there network share. Not very obvious names for example science_1.jpg and english.gif. Once the network manager looked at the said pictures find hard core porn on. However points number 2 and 3 are very important and if get the teachers on board once you have done that 90% of your work is done as then can prove the software helps you, teachers, students education, leadership and the school. Hope that helps. I am sure others will come along with specific things from there own usage. Russell -
Hi I know support been looking into this as been out the office not sure where things are. However interesting comment from @Sylv3r that does suggest activinspire is causing the problem. Once support guys finished will update the thread etc.. Russell

There is a beta version (contact support and they can sort you out) which works but missing a few things mainly dam metro interfering. Don't want to put a date on it yet until developer finished hitting metro with a rather large stick...

Hello A few years ago I did a post on common software that was being run in schools? I thought would be a good time to get an update on this. I am trying to get idea on what software is being run in schools these days? The question is what software do you run there? If you don't want to post publicly then feel free to send me a DM with a list etc. Thanks in advance? Regards Russell *Edit After a week or so will compile the data into readable format etc*

Hi First a few questions. What version of Impero are you running?, What methord of deployment did you use Is auto updates on? As for removing it if can't get msi uninstall to work depending on how got to the current situation etc number of ways. MSI Microsoft Remover is one of my favs but involves visiting every machine. However if get in touch with support guys (pm your details can arrange someone to call if want) as we have a number of vbs scripts and batch files etc they give you... Sadly A/V software use to pick us up all the time and we developed these scripts in those times where AV had really broke the Impero installation.. Russ

Mike hadn't seen this but have made him aware of the post. As can see Mike as part of his routines within his department over looks tickets and saw it hence reason he posted on it. Anyway please accept my apologies etc any problems please do contact Mike or myself. Russell

Hi I just seen this but looking at the ticket I see Mike support manager has picked this up. Just to clarify the issue you had has been passed up to little old me in terms of looking from a development point of view. You are right it should when injection starts read in the current windows and add them to the logs. As Mike pointed out in his post on your ticket I think what the original support engineer forgot to post when he was suggesting using script etc was this was temporary workaround until could be looked at by development teams etc. I will make sure that Mike has discussions with his team just to make sure that in the future when posting updates things are a bit clearer. I know Mike left his contact details on the ticket and you obviously have mine so feel free to get in touch etc. Russell
