  4. Disclaimer obviously this based on info when use to work there maybe out of date. Also a workaround. As one PC starts up in the ICT. Send another scheduled job ten mins after the first. As way Impero use to work was if couldn't wake the machine up it would try to find a machine in the the same VLAN running Impero. Then use that to send the WOL command. Russ
  5. The thing is this would happen at BETT as Education is a small space. I can guess MS and Apple use to speak with each other (when Apple use to attend). As it is small world means everyone knows everyone else or people working for X company use to work for Y company. When was down with Impero would speak with almost all the competitors as knew people there etc. (obviously we kept conversation away from trade secrets) in fact there was only one competitor who disliked talking to us and was shall we say "aggressive" towards us.
  6. Shame to hear that Pearson Education is to get rid of 4000 jobs That is very bad timing on the announcement with BETT going on.. Pearson to Eliminate 4,000 Jobs in Bid to Revive Earnings - Bloomberg Business https://t.co/vlrCRNuJT9

  13. This post is something a little different after nearly five years this is my last week and a half at Impero. As of next month I move on to a new role with Rencore as their QA Manager helping them to build up their QA process. This move is strange one for me as for the first time in my working career I am no longer in the education space. Over the years at Impero I have worked with some great people and great customers. I have seen Impero develop from a small “concepting/commitment” startup to the company it has grown into today. I certainly will be keeping my eye on Impero as Sam and Darren move Impero into its next stage and I think they are right people for the job. While Impero has gone through some up and downs one thing has always been evident. The people that work at Impero want to develop software that users love and help keep children safe. There a few “stories” that stand out from my years at Impero and I always joked I could write a book about it. The stories that stick with you are the ones where the software and E-safety lists help a child at risk. If what I said above is true you would be forgiven for asking the question “why are you moving?”. As previously mentioned Impero is about to begin its next stage in its story and while I could have carried on I felt it was time for someone new to come in and build upon foundations already laid. It was not a decision taken lightly however when Matthias offered the opportunity at Rencore to help them build the QA department up. It was a challenge I could not refuse.. However I am leaving EduGeek in the right hands as I would like to introduce Matt Wilding @ImperoMatt . Matt will be taking over my role on here for Impero being able to answer and support you when it comes to Impero. When we discussed internally who would take over my posting on EduGeek for Impero it became an obvious choice. Matt has been with Impero nearly two years and he was the second person I hired into QA department at Impero. However the reason Matt was an obvious choice is because of his background before Impero. As well as working for what was then SERCO working on their MIS offering and he is also as an ex-school network manager. I am sure Matt will do a great job and I know the EduGeek community will welcome him in. As for me I will still be lurking around and keep my eye on education space but for now can someone pass Matt some welcome Edu Biscuits.. Russell
  14. If using OSX and Safari you will need to install extension into Safari once done thay everything should work correctly.. Russ

  22. Hello I just wanted to reply after we went live with portal were not happy with way something were working with it and causing number of issues for both customers and Impero support staff. However fixes took longer than planned a test version went to some of beta customers recently and we hopefully should return it very soon.. In meantime if contact support on usual methods we should be able to help. Russell

  25. Strange if starting up and then crashing means getting wol packet. After that bios takes over my best guess is network drivers as this has lot of effect on wol (if using default drivers) due to how they power save, firmware and all sorts.. Russell
