Robocopy with the /MIR parameter copies changes from the source to the destination, including removing files from the destination that have been removed from the source. This should make it easy to keep the local copies up to date. I haven't noticed an issue with wallpaper delays in testing, though I haven't gone live yet with all the pupils - I'm giving it a few days to make sure the local copy exists on all PCs first. We deploy wallpaper via a separate GPO which uses the User Configuration - Policies - Administrative Templates - Desktop - Desktop - Desktop wallpaper Policy. Feel free to add the info to the main post - I'm putting it up here for people to share after all!

Hello all, I'm looking for a way, probably via a script. to set the office user name to match the users network name at logon. all our pupils are on mandatory profiles so the username field is just a generic SchoolUser for all of them. any suggestions on this would be much appreciated. Cheers

Well I do long distance walks for fun, so here's some of my obvious and some slightly less obvious tips Get good fitting quality boots - make sure they are suitably broken in prior to the start Ditto get a decent rucksack that is comfy - you don't want the straps rubbing or chafing against your skin or it will be murderous by day 3 Don't carry anything you do not absolutely need! the maximum all up weight for your kit should be 15Kg, and ideally less than 10. Remember to take layers off when they are not needed - I often see people in T-shirt + shirt + jumper / fleece + waterproofs, climbing up hills and completely knackering themselves when there is no need! If its not raining or Seriously windy keep the waterproofs off, if its not freezing cold leave the fleece in the bag (if you get cold - walk faster!) Plan your route before hand, including where you will take breaks / lunch etc. Stick to these timings as much as possible, Groups often take lots of little unplanned breaks during a walk that adds up to extra hours on the hills. Hello all, I'm trying to get an ancient piece of software (Written for Windows 3.1!) working and brought more into the 21'st century. It is supposed to run automated tests on the emergency lighting via a 1200 baud serial connection. I have got the software installed on a VM-Ware virtual machine (running win 7 32 bit) and the serial connection setup via a IP to Serial box. the issue I am having is intermittently it will not connect to the IP to Serial and an error box pops up. If you click okay on the error it starts the test, but these tests are supposed to run overnight not during the day (some tests involve switching the emergency lights on or off, or running the batteries down to test duration) My query is: is there a way / piece of software that can watch for a specific error box popping up (Titled: Interface not responding) and respond 'OK' to it (the only option) Cheers

Got Login times down from 37-40 Seconds to 22-24 quite an impressive reduction. How did you work out which things to cut out? did you use some kind of logging tool to monitor the login process?

Hello all, Quick Query to any Citrix experts out there. I have setup a XenApp Server to host Applications (SIMS, Discover, Solidworks etc) and a XenDesktop system for VDIs used for internal thin clients and external remote access. The XenDesktop VDIs have the Citrix Reciever installed, and this connects through passthrough authentication and presents the user with the correct applications. The issue I am having is printer re-direction. The VDI picks up local printers from the host (be it a home computer or a Windows thin PC client) however the XenApp apps do not pick up these printers. If the Reciever is installed on a fat client printers are re-directed to the apps successfully. any suggestions on what I may be missing here/ how to get this working? Cheers

looks like I might need a different tuner card then. I tried setting those advanced settings but got the same error, Ditto with changing the tuner.

Hello all, Im trying to get VLC to stream DVB-T Channels across our network, using AngryTechnicians excellent guide The Issue I am having is, when attempting to launch the stream (or simply to play it locally for testing) VLC just gives a blank screen and generates the following warnings bda_la-bdagraph.lo warning: FindFilter: No filter connected bda_la-bdagraph.lo warning: Build: Cannot connect Sample Grabber to Capture device: hr=0x80004005 (try 1/2) then when the stream is stopped main error: cannot pre fill buffer main warning: cannot create a stream_t from access I'm using a Kworld UB499-2T USB Tuner, and it works fine on the same machine via Windows Media Center. Im pretty sure that all config in packet tracer is done from the command line, other than with the simulated consumer routers. If its the syntax of the command that isnt quite right you can type a partial command with a question mark after and the router will list all valid commands with that prefix. e.g. ip h? shows all commands beginning with IP h

Is the script also being called by group policy? possibly from a different location?, if it is that would explain it overwriting the changes you make.
