Hi all, Just got a new IT role which effectively is taking duties away from an outsourced IT company and building an internal IT team, so as it stands I hyave no one to bounce questions to so hope you can help. Set my self up with a new email address today via the companies exchange server (2010) which went fine, sent myself a test email, also fine. When I opened my email I saw there was an automated signiture, which has obviously taken some details from my AD user mainly my name and job title. I'm just wondering, how to I edit that signature, I can find lots of tutorials on how to create an automated signature in exchange by creating a new transport rule and using HTML code, but when I look at the new transport rules on the server there are none listed to edit? Where is exchange pulling this information from and how would I go about editing it if required? Hope this makes sense, cheers in advance.

As said it was like that as I arrived, though I'm pretty sure it's like that for redundancy, or something to do with access to finance information being kept totally separate, it's never something I'd given a second thought to, you say there is no point "these days" what was the point in day sgone by and why is that point no longer valid?

Good Afternoon, Like a lot of you I have two networks in the school, my curriculam side and my admin side. MY curriculum side is 192.168.1.0 and my admin side is 10. IP range so I'm fine with that. Basically I'm looking to expand the scope on my 192.168.1.0 range to allow more than 254 addresses as I'm approaching capacity, the problem is I'd like this as none destructive as possible as the network has been configured well before I arrived so I am only moderately familiar with and being a school there is little room for everythign going down the pan whilst I fix the kinks. I've read things about re-subnetting and super scoping etc but am undecided on the best action to take. As it stands at the moment I have 2 DC's, a TMG server and 190 or so clients on my 192.168.1.0 scope, as well as things like printers, IP CCTV and IP Doors, I also have a trust between my admin and curriculam network for SIMS access and it's affecting that which is making me the most nervous. Is there a way I can expand my scope without then going in and possibly having to reconfigure everything on the network? Cheers in advance

What seems to be animportant factor in all of this is no one has come on to tell me how great they are and how much it has changed their school for the better...which speaks volumes..

Good Morning, A teacher has asked me to get a quote on some iPads for her class (maths) The rough cost of this looks to be around £9000. By default I think this is a bad idea, I'd be much happier getting a new set of notebooks in, which would cost roughly the same and be a lot easier to integrate into the network, as well as a HOST of other benefits, how ever I'm aware that I'm apple-ist. What is the general opinion out there of having ipads in the classroom, I have never yet met anyone able to give me a good reason why apple is the way to go aside from "they look good" "they are shiny" "they are modern" "they don't get virus'" "they don't crash" However...I don't care how they look, they DO get virus'...but even if they didn't neither do my school machines...they DO crash..and even if they didn't, neither do my school machines. You guys are usually on point so would love to get your opinions on the matter. Cheers, Liam

I've been on with the fellows at the councils ICT filter today, they have made the required changes and AOL seems to be working ok now for those who haven't tried it since. It would appear it was a block on http://aolcdn.com, and I have been informed access should be ok for all schools, this has fixed both the missing CSS file and the email problem.

Not good, that means you can't even have a nice cup of tea while you wait due to your terrible water.....I feel worse for you than I do for me, if it's stil down tomorrow I'll DHL you some tap water.

Well here's hoping those running the content filter get back to me asap, the panic this has created is absolutely crazy, they never seem too swift to respond though when ever I have sent a query regarding the filter. I've ran the test on the mail server as mentioned in the previous post and that has checked out, so it seems the problem must lie with the filter....lancashire only...racism!

Thats somewhat of a relief, as I've said I've emailed the guys running the filter/proxy, so I'll repost back in to this thread if I hear anything. If anyone manages to crack it, if they could posrt in here that would be fantastic, thanks everyone for your responses.

But when I click the basic connection method the page is just black text on white and the formatting awful, as per the screen shot, does yours look the same or is it ok. AOL.co.uk looks pretty much the same as that.

I've already done pretty much that, I basicalyl stripped everything back to suicide levels, everything allowed, everything on low, still no joy, also I'd be surprised if the same browser settings had been changed on every persons browser in the school, quite a few members of staff work on stand alone machines and the aol problem started the first day after half term after workign fine the day before we broke up. I have another thread asking people in lancs to try and it seems someone else has the problem, or at least i hope so........ Who the flip uses AOL anyway!!

If you could keep me in the loop and see if your problems mirror mine I would really appreciate it, I've still not heard back from the council just yet. I've checked the updates on and rebooted my proxy server, I've stripped back all my browser settings to let anything and everything through and still no joy. Every other website seems to be fine, just AOL uk and its mail.

Hello all, I'm just wondering if anyone in a school in lancashire who hits the lancsngfl proxy could test AOL.co.uk for me, aol.com works perfectly well? When I attempt it, the site looks like it has no CSS file, it's just white with black text, photos and some blue links, also if you try and access aol email, the progress bar just stops two thirds of the way accross and hangs. Could any of my fellow lancashirites please try this for me, I don't hit our schools proxy server so I'm confident that it can't be down to that, I've emailed the people running the lancs web filter but have had no reply just yet. If you get the chance to try an email you can use is [email protected] and password - goldpen23, the account and password are throw aways so abuse at your leisure. Or if anyone has any idea why all of a sudden I wouldn't be able to access aol.co.uk or it's email service then I'm open to suggesstions, cheers in advance.

Well this is a pickle, are either of you in the Lancashire region, I'm just wondering if it's down to them, the member of staff hits our proxy server, I have a direct line out yet we both have the same problems, the counties internet filter is the only thing we have in common.
