Has anybody looked into setting this up in a school, or had thoughts about how/where it could be used?

Really looking forward to Mass Effect 3 - loved the first two, got over 100 hours in them combined. Also the New Tomb Raider looks pretty good, may give that a spin. Of course the obligatory Half-Life 2 : Episode 3 - waiting 4 years and counting

I'm going to go against the tide here and say actually, I liked it. No it wasnt worth the 14 year wait, but taken on its own its a decent enough game, best enjoyed after a beer or two though.

If you use Steam, the games are the same price, well you pay for the game and can play it on both Mac and PC

hmm, while trying to avoid spoilers (because theres some really awesome bits coming up) you're about 3/4 of the way through and theres still more of the old Aperture Science Labs to go through before you get back into the new testing areas, and a few more new gameplay mechanics to discover.

Pre-Ordered this way back when it was first available, Spent all last weekend trying to collect Potatos and was up till 2AM finishing the single player, absolutely fantastic and a worthy successor to the origonal . Now for the Co-op

Thats a Ram Air Turbine, basically a wind generator that pops out the side in the event of power failure - The Gimli Glider / Air Canada <- Gimli Glider incident where one was used.

From the engines, theres normally also a seperate Auxiliary Power Unit (often in/near the Tail) that can provide power to start the engines or power the aircraft if an engine fails.

Had this Issue here with the KLite codec pack - The problem lay with the AC3 component of the ffdshow audio decoder. Changing the AC3 Decoder from liba52 to libavcodec fixed it straight away (well after a restart) this can be found under programs->Klite codec pack -> Configuration -> ffdshow audio decoder configuration, then the codecs option.

As a Bit of general advice - defrag the game cache in Steam (right click -> Properties) and make sure your Anti Virus has on Access scanning turned off for the game folder, see if that makes any difference.

New content is pretty good, but I think it was only meant to be in L4D, and the port happened late in the process - since there are no new lines from the survivors about the new items. Still lots of fun in versus, but it leaves something lacking in campaign. Also really enjoying the new mutation TAAAAAAANK!! if you havent tried it yet get a few games in before it disappears on friday.

Using Ghost 8 here for windows 7 deployments, no problems so long as the machine is sysprepped properly

Just checked the specs of ours - they are Celeron 1.5Ghz, 256MB RAM, 20GB HDD - connecting to a WPA Wireless network. Should run great on Atoms, but bear in mind that some programs do not work correctly - I wouldnt recommend it for anything other than basic office/internet use.

The other option, If your a Volume Licence customer is Windows Fundamentals - Windows Fundamentals for Legacy PCs - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - Which is a cut down version of XP optimised for older Hardware, we use it here on some ancient RM Laptops just for Office and Internet Browsing and it runs fine.

What codecs did you put on? I ask as im having the same issue here with one of our staff PCs - the audio will not play through Activeteach, but all other audio works fine - even playing the activeteach videos through media player classic!

Im assuming that if you built 1U rackmount PC's you used a small form factor motherboard, could you not just replace the motherboard with a mini-itx atom unit? eg Scan.co.uk: Gigabyte GA-GC330UD, Intel 945GC, Integrated Intel Atom N330 CPU (1.6GHz), DDR2 667, Mini ITX is what we use for small form factor units. These work fine as staff or classroom PCs (actually they are faster than the celerons they replaced!)

Dont personally know about Passports, but I printed up my own photo for my Driving licence renewal and that was accepted no problem.

ahh - missing vital info for diagnosis! Its probably a ports issue - https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=8571-GLVN-8711 Steam support page listing the required ports, if your using a satelite service you may only have port 80 (Http) available.

Have you tried right click -> Run as administrator ? I have to do this with my steam on Windows 7 x64, at least I do since i moved it to a second HDD.
