I don't want to come across as being awkward but... The school is looking to implement something that has a legal element to it. Coming on the internet and taking advise from "random people" isn't a good idea. Shouldn't the school contact legal professionals. Especially if it comes to legal action down the line.

My last place I could count the damage on one hand. It wasn’t like that when I started. With SLT backing all damage was automatically billed to the department. There was no argument and not negotiation. Harsh but it worked. Every keyboard and mouse in the whole trust were identical.

Just because something isn’t cheaper doesn’t make it right. You ha e to consider other factors. Just a few: functionality, cost of electricity to run devices, the useable life, warranty, reliability, ease of use, IT support man hours in servicing etc. H&S is a factor as well. Having a light shined in your eyes from a projector can’t be good for you. I can’t remember the exact cost but I think I was lying £1,200 for a 65 inch (for small primary school classrooms. This included removing all the old equipment and installing the new. All came with 7 year warranty. The secondaries had 75”. I can’t remember the price off top of my head though. I can check and get back though. Yes the hall is a different situation.

One way around it could be to create a application that contains batch file that maps a network drive and installs it from there. Something like: NET USE Z: "\\server\share" msiexec /i "installer.msi" /qn NET USE Z: /DELETE /Y The share will need to have the correct permissions. If its running under the system account I think "Domain Computers" to have read only permissions will be adequate. By default it doesn't keep the installation files in the Cache. You have to specifically allow this.

If you want a router as well the Unifi UDM might be worth a look at. It’s a router and AP built in 1 unit. You can add additional AP at a later date if you wish.
