That’s a good idea. Not something I have done before. I will have a look what ubiquity have.

Are you blocking the creation of desktop.ini files? This causes significant delays when combined with redirected folders.

The socket is miles away. The power strip is going through a hole in a unit. So it will involve a long cable and drilling holes into furniture that isn’t mine.

I can't really as it will be connected to a power strip. They are not reliable through those strips.

It seems unnecessary to me. Unless they also use the same edit for countries such as Saudi Arabia. If this is the case I think they should have 2 different versions. -

What're people using for their Hyper-V hosts?
FN-GM replied to Garacesh's topic in Thin Client and Virtual Machines
In a nutshell yes. The data will sit on more than one server so if a server dies another can continue the same way it would if connected to a SAN. -

The problem here is you are looking for business laptops but the brands produce consumer products. You will need to pay a little bit more to get a new device that's considered a business laptop. Or you will have to settle with used.

Coronavirus: General discussion (see opening post for rules)
FN-GM replied to Dos_Box's topic in General Chat
Our state hasn't had any new cases in weeks and currently nobody is being treated for COVID-19. It looks like its been killed off here. Its a similar situation with Western Australia and the Northern Territory. The state borders will be opened once the other states are in the same situation. We are still struggling with some supplies in supermarkets. Soap seems to be a particular problem. -
Its not so cheap in Australia. Even "proper Cisco" access points are out pricing them at the moment (Meraki and Cisco are ran as 2 separate businesses). The subscription model is a concern to me. I object to not being able to manage the devices we purchased if we don't keep the software subscription going.

Hello, I am looking to purchase a NAS for home use. I am looking at the Synology DS918. I am wondering if anyone has experience with these NAS and using them over WIFI please? I have read online people have purchased dongles but had mixed results. Unfortunately wired connections are not an option at home. Thanks
-
Yes. Still not hitting the mark.

I don’t really understand why that is a problem. Different products require different management anyway. I don’t plan to use Unifi switches as they don’t have the features I require. I will probably go with Cisco Catalyst. They have undercut the big players such as HP etc.

Have you asked if they can provide a VPN service as part of their package? Most (if not all) firewalls have a secure built in firewall facility.

Hyper-V Virtual Ethernet Adapter - Create host vlan interface
FN-GM replied to CAWJames's topic in Wired Networks
You could set the VLAN ID here: On the NIC go to Network Connections -> Properties-> Advance Tab and select the VLAN ID https://www.ionos.com/help/server-cloud-infrastructure/setting-up-a-private-network-for-dedicated-servers-windows-server-2012-r2-2016-and-2019/ Sorry I am a little tried so might be totally misunderstanding. -

Hyper-V Virtual Ethernet Adapter - Create host vlan interface
FN-GM replied to CAWJames's topic in Wired Networks
If I have understood correctly you would set the VLAN ID in the Hyper-V switch settings. In there is a setting to set the VLAN ID for host management. -
You would need to configure policy based routing. What Layer 3 switch do you currently use?

Is that tenant ID correct? This has caught a few people out who use the onmicrosoft address. For example ours is: 511711c6-fc7c-4043-8jy2-70a81123435a This is how you find it. https://o365hq.com/faq/how-to-find-your-office-365-tenant-id
