If it’s a standalone host is the host actually part of the domain? If not you’ll need to add permissions for the host to host migration as they won’t have the credentials to migrate (aka does ace and jack have separate admin passwords etc etc) Also have you checked that the VMs actually have permission to act as a service? If VMMS is having a wobble it won’t always update it Check if NT Virtual Machine\Virtual Machines is included in the log on as service gpo settings Steve

I mean in reality that’s more a user training issue, no different to how do you stop staff emailing student pictures to parents etc. Either you give access to edit the PowerPoint to people you trust not to put images up that you don’t have permissions etc, or you don’t allow student photos on it at all (Guessing if you have signage in reception you already have this setup right?) No different to the fact you shouldn’t then be setting up children’s photos on a personal (non Edu) slide in the first place really But in terms of ease, any reason you don’t just use PowerPoint? If you already have screens etc setup that can run it, you can easily script a copy (or direct run) of the PowerPoint from a shared drive to local machine, then all staff do is edit the PowerPoint on the shared drive and when the script runs it updates it etc. You’d do the config/kiosk setup in the original PowerPoint layout on the shared drive so not that users need to do anything complicated etc Steve

As I said before, if it’s for the fun and challenge you need to actually show us what isn’t working to be able to help you, but seems you don’t want to for some unknown reason and then just get annoyed when people suggest alternatives Steve

It should just pull direct from NT6/Options as normal (as in "offline" options). What are they showing in there? Only thing that springs to mind is something like they haven't put the promotion rules (mapping whatever you like to call it) in for the new year? In a very basic level, setup academic year (pastoral etc etc), set promotion rules, change to that year, and they should show in that year/school year. Select scheme (base bands etc), and then assign said year 10s to year 11 bands in that scheme Steve

Check the internal SQL server and databases are ok, (If you got SQL management tools installed somewhere, or can temp install them directly) seen this when one is sitting in recovery mode and needs bringing online It's normally "rdcms" one if it's having a whine, but can depend etc Steve

I mean in all fairness you're going to have to pick one of the two. Either it's important not to tell anyone the code because it needs to be secret, then there's not much we can help suggest, or it's important to fix it and then really we need to see what is actually being run to see why it might be slow, else it's just going to be listing hundreds of basic things to look at which seems a waste of everyones time really... This was the drivers on the actual MFP though, rather than print servers. Not even sure drivers being the correct phrase in this case (Page Description Languages etc), but the PS/PCL conversion software/module etc built into the MFP In our case, it was linked to a paid for license/module that wasn't being provided that did the conversion, and instead a vendor-own version of the software doing emulation was in place which choked at anything more than a tuppence thrown at it Steve

Is this always with certain file types or any? We had a very similar issue with PDFs in the past, only affecting Duplex printing over a certain amount of pages, and it was due to the photocopiers we had having a stupid (read -> Vendor own, rather than paying for proper ones) drivers on that really weren't happy with Duplex merging/flattening of PDFs Anything directly from the photocopier (e.g. photocopies) worked fine as it didn't have to convert it, and any single sided pages printed also worked fine, it was just the duplex printing of PDFs etc that caused a hassle And yet the higher end models of the photocopiers had no problems due to different (real) drivers etc Steve

I'm assuming you've checked the Job Title under the objectID as well as their own Title under the user properties? That rule would flag both up wouldn't it? e.g. Job Title = Pupil Support Title = School Administrator Would still hit the rule because it's just based on does it include it Steve

Which plan are you using? A lot of them have the option of enabling 100GB limits using powershell, just aren't enabled by default (Not that a 50Gb size "should" need increasing, but might be easier than arguing if you got the option for free and it isn't using up your network storage etc) Set-Mailbox "email" -ProhibitSendQuota 99GB -ProhibitSendReceiveQuota 100GB -IssueWarningQuota 98GB Might be worth a try and see if yours allows it Steve

Is it when using a certain file, or even creating a brand new one? (As in after a profile is cleaned, does opening a new file still have wrong language? or only after "user workings") I've had it before when a region/language option is set within a file, and reusing the file sets that language (Specifically French for me but guessing same can apply to other fake languages ) Steve

What's it set to within the boiler controls? Unless I misunderstood what you said it sounds like you haven't actually changed the temperate setting for the water? There's a panel just above that dial that should fold downwards isn't there? And there should be a few dials within the bottom panel on the front of the boiler with settings for water/heating temperate and then selecting what option you have set (Should normally look like a radiator and tap picture) There should be a display inside that panel as well showing whats currently set, depending on the age of it (although from that picture it looks strangely like you have a wooden bar in front of the bottom panel? ) Steve

That normally shows up if you got file blocks/protected view turned on for very old file types that get upset. Have you turned up the security in regards to those? As a very temp fix (as in one file), turn off protected view mode (as in trust center) and try to open a file again, does it work? Also, what do you have ticked under file blocks for older files? Normally that’d trigger the tamper alarm, same as if you tried to remove the battery without putting it into service mode etc Thus the change it before it runs out etc, think of it like a yearly service etc Steve

Guessing that’s for the pir units/contacts etc My previous wireless alarms had 2-3 year battery life on the standard cr123s batteries and then they flashed an led when low to be replaced (no charging etc) Only the home unit was hard wired Steve

144.4 is the cap on 20MHz range (2x2 MIMO) You sure it’s setup right config wise? It shouldn’t be running at that unless it’s setup to auto adjust down to 2.4ghz when it detects conflicting networks/APs etc (or didn’t you disable those?) Can you force it to stay at 40+ and retest it? Steve

If you got dual screens have you disabled presenter mode? That's the normal one that messes with it as it automatically changes how the dual screens present when you go into presentations We disabled that view GPO etc and no problems Under the Slide Show tab it's the "Use Presenter View" one that normally did it for us, might be worth disabling it and seeing? I still feel the biggest hurdle to it is ironically, their own departments (as in teacher wise, not Gov). Most schools without a proper CS based set of teachers want/do teach ICT still instead of CS and then wonder why CS teachers don't want to teach it How many schools are still putting things like Word/Excel into their Computing curriculums and using the exact same thing they used while teaching ICT (TeachICT springs to mind)? Lots it seems, and then wonder why teachers leave their jobs Obviously it's kind of hard to stop it though as it's going to be fairly rare for a new CS teacher to be in charge of a department early on, unless lots quit at once Steve

Out of those two, Laptop for sure imho Home usage, as in no real need to move it about so weights not really a factor, nor battery life. Windows will give them a lot more options for future proofing/programs etc, especially if you're expecting to use it over a few years. You can be pretty sure it'll soon be "lets install XYZ games etc" In reality though, for a Y3 student which is what 7/8? Any reason a cheaper tablet isn't being considered? Obviously depends on how techy they're expecting the kid to be, but if you're only talking a few Googles/YTs/Games could be a big cost saving Steve
