Anki software error - filtering?
Steve21 replied to cheaptonersucks's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Have you checked all the normal bits in their instructions? https://docs.ankiweb.net/#/syncing?id=proxies Things like it doesn't pick up transparent proxy/Auto config (else needs manually settings)/SSL interception can break it etc 10061 is connection refused, which sounds like it might be one of those two Steve -
Is this the first time it’s been restarted since the upgrade? We’ve had issues before like that caused by a GPO modifying security that looks like IIS permissions were broken but weren’t really In IIS logs what’s the 401.x code say? Steve

When we used to do a lot of primary/junior support, we just had a simple shared spreadsheet that had a template for X/Y/Z site + tasks, and then got the boxes coloured + initials (Like assigned to, completed etc). Copy template for each day etc Obviously nowadays could be a bit more cloudy shared Steve

I guess it depends what info you actually need in it. If it's just a "has this been done" even something like a MS Form/G Quiz should work etc Is there something specific it needs to track? Steve

Have you checked modern auth is enabled on your tenant with Powershell etc? Pre/2017 ones are disabled by default Steve

How comes you guys seem to be getting so many of these now after the lockdown, is there a second round to request them or something? Thought all the orders were done before summer hols Steve

Don't think you even need to change it do you? On ours the Vib options are upgrades/drivers only, thought the rest comes under the 1903+ one still For example 2004 CU is available under 1903+ even without the others ticked Steve

SLT want faster broadband
Steve21 replied to Sonic007's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Out of curiosity, what is the rough pricing nowadays for 1Gbps lines? My new place I've taken over has a locked in contract till March, but currently they're paying a staggering amount for 300mb (over 10k... yep seriously) Many thanks, Steve -
We just use a decent webcam on tripod, that's put up for assembly, and taken down afterwards. Yes it's a pain, but it's cheap and works! Steve

You tried doing it via ctl-alt-f2 (rather than f1 as above) and then the normal startx etc? Also as a side note, depending on what "run some commands" was, have you tried disabling secureboot/enabling csm and seeing if it loads up? Will need to reinstall efi loaders after, but just wondering depending what you ran Steve

That’s the same as the UK for a fair number of years (well at least for VM) It’s only old lines that are reactivated that use the old lines Steve

I mean I guess it depends exactly how you're structured and licensed. But by default any FTE count style license, is based on the time it's renewed, so even if you sent 1000 staff over to another side of the business, you're licensed until the FTE renewal etc. So if you have a separate license covering central, vs your own school, effectively next renewal they just take a chunk off you Edit - Obviously long term wise I guess it depends if you're going to merge all under one license too? Or are you still fairly split? Steve

Google Classroom app - unknown user in classroom
Steve21 replied to BlueSkies's topic in Cloud Services
I'm sure I read about that before where it's a user who's been deleted/left class etc that the app sometimes gets in a tiffy. Do you know if any students were removed/left recently? Steve -
Aye aye was joking Still worth a try with the HP drivers on Lenovo I meant Steve

Bah I didn't see your other post where you said it was a different laptop! Guess no harm in me trying those too! Steve

Which driver version are you using? We only got these over Summer unless they released another one recently Would be interesting to test it Steve

[1903, au] Windows 10 - random NO INTERNET issue!
Steve21 replied to kennysarmy's topic in Windows 10
Not sure if you guys seen it yet but there was a new release to fix this recently for 2004, think it's still optional at this stage: https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/4577063/windows-10-update-kb4577063 Steve -
I would definitely say if you're having that many problems it's something non-windows directly related. Out of curiosity, have any of you who are having problems tried doing a global mapping for a random TCP/IP printer etc and seeing if that works? (rather than MFP/leased/via print servers etc) At my last place we had a printer lease and it worked fine on Win10, yet once it expired and they changed to a new supplier/brand we had no ends of problems using the same method GPP/servers/setup, only difference was the printers/drivers. No matter which version we tried or firmware on the printers etc these just refused to play ball with GPP, and in the end had to go back to an old VBS script with forced delays between login and the mapping of the printers to get it to work. Obviously in our situation it couldn't be anything windows related as there was no change on our side, not even a windows update between the breaking Steve

We've got a bunch of these that do the exact same, honestly haven't had enough time to deal with them yet, but for us it can be from start up it instantly brings back a 169 and fails to connect until disable/reinstall etc Steve

'Disappointed' bidder sues MAT after MIS Tender failure
Steve21 replied to vikpaw's topic in MIS Systems
The irony being it even says in the tender, that their are some cloud MIS schools, and this tender is for the rest + new schools who join. So sounds like those weren't going to change whoever won... And yeah I guess it just goes against the "we're the best" attitude we keep getting from the PR bots etc if they don't win the largest contracts will no doubt make others wonder why Steve -
'Disappointed' bidder sues MAT after MIS Tender failure
Steve21 replied to vikpaw's topic in MIS Systems
Just find it funny how United do a lot of tenders, and aren't exactly hiding information (https://unitedlearning.org.uk/tenders/mis#) that was required But I do wonder if the story is a bit behind date wise considering the timing on the tenders: As if they announced it in July (from my memory someone posted it on here then), that seems to have already been months between the signing and announcement, unless it was delayed ofc (Covid wise) Steve -
I thought this was removed in the latest v86 when you turn force sync on? (Not auto sign in, but forced sync) Haven't got a remote machine at hand to check, but deffo got the force sync on? Steve

'Disappointed' bidder sues MAT after MIS Tender failure
Steve21 replied to vikpaw's topic in MIS Systems
So the TLDR version is Bromcom lost the tender and are now complaining that because some schools in the whole trust already used one of it's rivals MIS that it should be paid? *facepalm* I mean despite the extra allegations of miscalculating fees etc, is there anything that actually says a tender has to go to the lowest bid if there is a reason they've selected someone else? Else surely the same arguement could apply to why any tender ever picks a Tier1 supply over cheaper Edit - As a clarification if anyone asks, the phrase "most economically advantageous tender" or MEAT method isn't just about finances it falls under about 12 criteria Steve -

As long as they're azure style groups, go to teams, create team from.... 365 group etc and select the one you want etc As long as they haven't been linked to another team/site previously But that won't do the sync you're talking about, unless you have dynamic groups etc licensed, it'll do one sync when the team is created and then stop! Helpfully... Steve
