Out of curiosity for all the Unifi users, have you noticed any downsides with them compared to "normal" brands as such? I know a fair few on here mentioned they aren't using them as cores and still buying a chassis/stack to do this etc but is that due to the L3 abilities (pre-gen2) more than reliability? With 62 switches to replace, it's obviously a huge difference in pricing between the brands, but always a bit concerned with doing such a huge change and finding issues that will be deemed "buying cheap" etc Many thanks, Steve

Sounds like said teacher isn't assigned to the class so it isn't populating their classes etc, and effectively you're doing it as a cover teacher Are the teachers set as supervisor/teacher of the class? (If you search for a teacher and go to staff groups it should show what they're set as like main class teacher, class teacher, supervisor etc) Many thanks, Steve

Good Evening All, It seems last year this school had a lot of manual teams created for subjects that they want to keep using, however as they aren't "real classes" within SIMs as they expired last year I'm struggling to find a way to link them back into SDS to get them to update with new joiners/leavers. The SIS value on Teams can this be manually changed after a profile already exists to be able to link it to something that is sync'ing? Or would this destroy teams? Any smart thoughts of how to do it without spending hours manually adding and removing people? Many thanks, Steve

Sound like it's missing storage drivers, do you have something on the machines setup in bios like soft-raid even if it's not enabled on the desktops? We've found before you sometimes either need to fully disable it, or ensure you've added in storage drivers to the boot images Steve

Aye that's what most seem to be saying, but was curious as it seems like I understand the principle of it, but just seems if you're having data on the 7.2ks there still is going to be a large hit on read times if people are accessing data that isn't in the cache. Guess the principle is that the unused data isn't often used and thus the cost/trade-off is warranted One more question to add if you don't mind, anyone using switchless config across 3+ hosts? Seems it's been added into the allowed config since I last looked, as previously it was limited to 2 nodes only, but now says any: Switchless: Nodes can be interconnected using direct connections, avoiding using a switch. Good Afternoon All, Just wondering if anyone had any recent quotes for any server/san/s2d combos, and wouldn't mind giving some rough indications for what they got, storage and pricing etc. (Don't need the quote unless you're happy, just rough pricing vs what you got) Obviously need to do some proper quoting, but just trying to piece together a rough costing of a full network server replacement, and haven't had to buy any servers in for a few years as did a full replacement a few years back In an ideal world, any full SSD based hosts with stacks of storage etc but would just be interested to see what pricings like recently, after the whole covid/hdd price issues in the last few years Many thanks, Steve

Have you actually got windows search feature installed? Otherwise might not be there From the original error wording though, do you have a large virtual memory setting? Sounds as if it's failing to write to disk/memory rather than real memory Steve

I know it's not a fix-fix, but if it's really causing you many problems connecting to apps etc, have you considered just putting your own DNS record redirecting to your webserver hosting that file? All that's on the end of the check is a txt file with a line of writing in it (At least as a work around for now) Steve

Sounds like you have group writeback turned on, as Group_ is when AADC uses by default, guessing maybe it's getting out of sync between AD->Cloud->AD? Have you tried disabling writeback temporary? Steve

Normally with archived storage it's just the fact it's not supposed to be accessed often, as in only archive not your main backup space. The actual storage is whatever you pay for. For example, if you had a rotating backup of 100GBs per day, even if you wiped the backup every day, you'd still have to pay for that 100GB worth of data for 180 days. (So 18TB worth at certain points) However, lets say you did a 100GB backup per month, and kept 6 points, you'd only ever pay for 600GB worth If that makes sense? And yes normally it's expensive to recover, but again it's for oh shi... cases, not normal backup with archive storage That's more cold storage you want Steve

Aye I totally agree, and would be an awesome place for backups/archived data. Just a bit wary in regards to getting a schools whole org blocked or something stupid if they do deem it "abusive" for lack of a better phrase Just wasn't sure if anyone had found anything specific to it before in terms etc Personally I was looking at OneDrive for similar (being MS side ), and they have very small (well at least in terms of backups) file size limits of 100Gb last time I looked, so the idea of doing a full backup image of a big server wasn't going to happen.
