About ebuckner

  1. Morning all, So with the ever increasing reliant on tech and ever increasing strains on our budgets, over the last few years like many we have turned to refurbished kit, which has been great however over the last year or so that kit has become more expensive and the quality of it has fallen drastically. Now I appreciate we’re working in extremely unusual times with the pandemic, the effects of Brexit and global trade all playing a part on the price of equipment and availability but all of those things together are giving me a massive headache. With that in mind I would like to find out if any of you have tried Leasing equipment and how that process has gone from a technical perspective and also financial. Cheers in advance
  2. Same boat mate, I think there was a note on the admin panel when you log in but I must admit I never get chance to read them, once I'm in I'm getting pulled left and right currently. Sure we're all in the same boat though. If it's any help if you are having the same issue I can confirm applying the A3 demo licenses works, it takes ages to apply but it does apply, that gives you 25 licenses and 30 days to beg for the money
  3. Yep at least from our tenant and a few others seem to be having the same problem, my A3 trial license user has just this second got the feature back, it took near on 24 hours of nail biting though!
  4. Right that clears that up then! Off to get pricing for A3 assuming my test license actually works as currently still not deploying AGH! Cheers all
  5. I read that and assumed it wouldn't work but was just checking as the first like confused me a little, says they have extended it but second line says they have stopped it for A1 licensing so was sure what they had extended.
  6. Cheers I'll give it until tomorrow then to double check. I just want Teams to work properly for a couple of days, although most of our issues are user based so doubt that will happen.
  7. Evening all, This one has stumped me and our team so hopefully someone on here will have an answer. So we've suggested our staff use the live event function for large group interaction. KS3 are having to teach large groups due to staff shortages and numbers of KW students on site coupled with the fact we've had some low level abuse of the meeting functions because staff haven't setup their meetings correctly. This has worked perfectly in all our testing and some staff were using it already, however just as we sent an all staff email to use the live event function it's gone missing. Literally the drop down option in Teams is missing. I'm a bit confused about what licensing allows the live event feature, we've only got A1 and I've been reading that you need A3 or 5 but I've also seen some people on here say it still works on A1. We've even tried installing the 30 day preview for A3 to see if it gave the option but it was still missing. I've checked all the Teams policies and they look fine, I just want to know if it definitely works with A3 because if it doesn't SLT won't be happy if I spend money for nothing. Cheers in advance Elliott
  8. Hi all, So here goes, we've pushed our staff down the Teams route like most, since the return they're trying to run all staff meetings through them but it's just not seemed to work well and I'm at the end of tether as we've had problem after problem. The icing on the cake with it all is for some unknown reason small groups of staff are joining, for example a whole staff briefing and ending up in a separate meeting with a small random group of staff. Someone please tell me I'm not the only person dealing with this kind of thing, I'm pretty sure it's some mad user error rather than Teams but just needed to clarify as couldn't find any similar examples on any MS forum. Any ideas would be appreciated. Cheers
  9. We're looking for a technician to work on site at our primary school locations, full time role but part time role possible. Closing date 7th Feb. Happy to answer questions. https://www.fulstonmanor.kent.sch.uk/page/?title=ICT+Technician&pid=1513&action=saved
  10. They're a special breed in education! I was thinking the same as you, annoying but thanks for the clarification, I need to do some testing with the FE GPs this afternoon, if I get a chance (doubt it!) Cheers
  11. We are mapping their home areas to their individual shares of the File Server like you would normally. They just want to default save to a class share rather than there individual home shares because "It's too complicated for students to press This PC and then Shared Documents", I know this makes no sense as it isn't complicated but that's what they want and if we cannot get it working they want a single class login which I am really anti the idea of.
  12. Hi all One that I thought would cause me little to no issues has actually become a bigger pain than I first thought. Basically we have a primary that want to set their student logon's to default save to a shared drive, as they have to share devices in class. There's a GP for the MS products but not one to set the default location for everything else, at least not that I've seen. I don't want to map the home areas to the share as obviously this would be a nightmare and I have tried to enforce the items deployed to place bar GP as a work around but it seems to only work if the software is using the old style save dialogue boxes. They've agreed that if I could set the top quick links icon to be the shared drive this would be easy enough for the students to get to however I cannot seem to get a reg hack to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated, we are running Win 10 1809 Education and Server 2019. Cheers
  13. Apparently some students do and some don't even though they are trying to sync the same notebook down. The ones using 365 complain that the notes sometimes don't display or are very slow to display. They also on occasion get prompted to log in a few times.
  14. Hi all, So over the summer one of the IT teachers setup Class Notebook for her classes and then helped set it up for the rest of the IT/Media/Computing teachers. They have all setup their own classes but share content between each other, I think this is the correct way of doing it as you shouldn’t have one central person pushing everything out right? We (tech team) weren't involved in any of the setup so was a bit clueless to her doing it and when we found out were skeptical as to if it would work smoothly or not. Everything seemed to be ok for the first half of this term but recently we have noticed a few issues with teachers syncing pages up and kids pulling content down. Some teachers were using 365 to access the information but have now stopped as they found it just wasn't always working for the kids or was very slow. They are now using the local program in classes but are seeing sync issues where some kids are seeing the pages and other aren't. We have a 100Mb lease line and when monitoring the traffic, we don't seem to be anywhere near our limit which is what I initially thought was happening. So really has anyone experienced similar issues and has anyone put anything in place to try and make the situation better? I worry as the more content they put up the more of a problem I can see appearing. Cheers in advance
  15. I couldn't comment. However I got the replies I was fully expecting from you guys cheers all
