Out of curiosity what services are you currently using that store the data in the US? Surely based on the wording of the article (or at least how I read it), if you're using their EU data centres you're still covered? Yep, unless you have it bypassing it on filtering etc. It doesn't use your account even if you're logged in If you run netsh winhttp show proxy does it show there's any proxy set for the server? If not you can add it two ways, either importing IE settings, or if you're using chrome etc you can manually set it: netsh winhttp import proxy source=ie netsh winhttp set proxy proxy-server="10.10.100.10:8080" bypass-list="*.anythinghere.com" Then either reboot server, or just restart update service Restart-service wuauserv And it should start pulling things via proxy Steve

Have you enabled the proxy for winhttp on the server? Don't forget in 2016+ it uses the system account for updates, so unless you have the server bypassing filters/proxy, or have added it via winhttp it will bounce on proxy server normally Steve

Try changing the registry setting of a computer to 0 using: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Power\HiberbootEnabled We found it was more linked to having fast startup enabled, which effectively doesn't shut down the machine properly. Well I mean 5.4.1 is still normally one of a few things, Either it's broken MX which should affect everything/mail wise It's DBEB blocking it, which means it's not happy with the address or type (e.g. public folder) Your connector is unhappy if you're using hybrid I'll ask again just because You are sure it's a shared mailbox? (Not public mailboxed enabled folder, or O365 group etc?) and it has finance@ as the primary SMTP (not secondary smtp etc?) If you know you're not going to have some downtime, you could test DBEB by doing Mail flow > Accepted domains -> Edit -> (Change to Internal Relay assuming it's Auth), re-sync AADC and re-try and see if it sends ok. Shouldn't leave it that way long term, but if it's DBEB should remove the block for that test mail Steve

When you made it a shared mailbox, I assume you do mean shared mailbox rather than mail enabled public? Just often that's where a 5.4.1 is from as it's rejecting it to publics (DBEB will block that by default nowadays) Also DBEB wise, I assume you've checked that the new shared mailbox has the right SMTP etc (as in your real domain, rather than onmicrosoft etc) Steve

Are you on the latest CB update before the upgrade? No reason it shouldn't work with an inplace, any error etc showing? You can have different drives for things like packages (Always prefer this route, I normally have seperate Server + OS + Packages etc drive setup), but you'd need to manually (or via some scripts you can download) move all the existing packages config to those locations, unless you delete them all and restart them In terms of reinstalling it etc, do you have much setup? Config wise on SCCM that you'll want to keep? Thinking of policies/av rules/scripts/requirement baselines etc Steve

But if all you're doing is remote software/config etc, why not stay away. (Bearing in mind most schools will be having deep cleans/re-arrange for Sep etc) Steve

There's a note here: Based on that it should show up with any of the SP groups (Might be worth testing it with SP Staff to just see if it because you removed the Edit that the way you're viewing it isn't showing) But if you want to make your own group settings these are all the permissions the SP Staff group gives, then try taking out the Edit's I guess Steve

Are you sure that's the right permission you mean? Not got SIMs here currently, but on my spreadsheet of permissions: There's Staff -> Professional -> View (Which is defaulted to roles like personnel managers) or Staff Performance -> Professional (CPD) -> View (Own) (Which is defaulted to roles like line managers/staff etc) - Edit - On a side note, if you mean the 2nd one I'm pretty sure there's already a SP permission group setup for that (but it does have edit access), so might want to have a look unless you're happy doing it role by role Example attached below: Steve

Just on a side note, as I missed that line originally: While you could ask them, it'd be a lot better to agree with the "school/management" that you could access student mailboxes, and then set yourself up with permissions to "open the mailbox". That way no password required (e.g. if it's changed), and they can't use it as any excuse if they have issues SIR BROKE IT!!! The other option, would be putting some kind of transport rule for approvals on that students account, for staff->him emails, but obviously that would be a pain for the "approver" depending how many emails your staff send kids directly? I'm guessing you're referring to people able to identify people from outside the school? Location/Gender etc? Never seen one that says you can't use Year Groups in, would be interested to see if this is the case as never know a school not to use it Steve
