  1. Just posting here to say how nice it has been, in the wonderful weather, cycling along narrow country lanes with bird song all around and chaffinches, green finches and sparrows flying all around
  2. Yeah - staff plugging and unplugging keyboards and mice what could possibly go wrong just confiscate any hammers you see anyone carrying!
  3. I suppose you also have to remember that car hire companies are not really car hire companies I saw (or read) something a while ago showing how these companies buy the cars at a huge discount - keep them for a short while - then sell them on as used but they often get more for them when they sell them that they cost The car hire business is just to keep the car running and pay for the admin and running costs of the company in the meantime - and to make sure the cars are legally used rather than new which means they are not subject to VAT at on resale Economics are weird like that so they might not be in the terrible shape that it appears
  4. I'm confused - how does the chocolate orange get from the cupboard and into a bowl?? In my experience the chocolate tends to get eaten as soon as it gets out of the cupboard so - ta best - the amount of chocolate orange need to be doubled to account for 'shrinkage'
  5. Makes you wonder why there is no central plan so that schools can sort themselves out knowing what will happen and what they need to do Instead they get announcements with no great notices and the unions seem to be surprised by what is said as they had no prior notice I suppose if I was SMT I would be worried that teh government would suddenly say that secondary need to be ready to teach years x and y starting on the 1st August or something This is really annoying me because the DoE should have been working on plans since the school shut - and these should have been published so that everyone knows what they need to sort out OK - it would be Plan A if circumstance X - B if Y C of Z but at least people would be able to plan
  6. All the car rental companies must be in trouble. WHen I go cycling I sometimes cycle through Liverpool airport because it is weird cycling through a big (ish) airport which is totally silent Anyway - the car rental place is full of rental cars that haven't moved since all this started - and there are a LOT of cars there places like Manchester and Gatwick must be even worse
  7. The Thursday clapping round here was normal but the fireworks over to the left were missing It is a bit difficult to tell who is actually out - people tend to clap from their doorway - so a lot of people are hidden by hedges, fences, cars, caravans etc etc etc we can only really see 2 houses clearly due to the curvature of the road but it sounded about normal
  8. I have seen a lot of things on the telly where people are saying that they can;t see any privacy problems with the app because all you type into it is the first part of your post code Which is not the point where the problem lies - so it shows that the people commenting are quite happy to use the app and have thought about the privacy problem but not actually done anything to see what the actual problem is some of these people commenting have been proper government people and proper journalists all a bit scary really
  9. I would suggest the first stop should be your unions - they should have advise on hand maybe a solution would be to change you work pattern so that fault/problems are logged during the day and you fix them after the kids have gone home (plus a bit to allow the air to clear) I did hear of someone who worked early - then went home - then came back late afternoon to do more work - I would hate it but ....... In any case I would put all that in writing and specifically state that you are not prepared to wander in and out of classroom all day if that doesn;t work then you should at leats have proper PPE - and I don't just mean a sock made into a face mask!
  10. My local council has said they will not re-open schools on 1st June - they have given a date of 6th June but say it could well move further back
  11. That'll work fine in a Primary where there is a TA assigned to every form group But when I worked in a secondary the TAs worked from a central sections and were assigned to an SEN kid - hence most lessons would not have a TA - and certainly most teachers had no support from a TA at all So I would have ended up doing all the pens etc myself But all this should have been discussed and sorted out in the first few weeks of school closure - the plan of how to re-open should have been worked on by the Dept. of Edu. the next day and by now we should only have minor details to be sorted out almost like no-one in the government has thought of planning for the future
  12. For those that are a bit stuck I thought this might help
  13. Nice one!! back to the point about ordering the equipment - I would throw that back to the site people - they have the contacts and if anything is regarded as hazardous then you will need 'training' but I would regard the use of gloves to be necessary as a minimum - a quick wipe with alcohol on your own keyboard is totally different to several rooms full because of the extra exposure of you skin to the chemical Also - if this involves doing so after school then the word Overtime should crop up I would also wonder if teacher are being asked to do extra cleaning on their equipment - such as pens and pencils - as these should be cleaned as well as keyboards I would also plan for an increase in equipment failure - get some spare keyboards and mice in maybe - OK cheap for desktops - but laptops can be different and cleaning between the keys is likely to put stress on the keys that they are not very good at withstanding
  14. Still like the story - maybe on here - of the IT tech who was required to switch off all the wifi point anywhere near the school hall so that one parent was able to attend the school play (or something) apparently this person was especially sensitive to wifi signals and became very ill if exposed to them SO the IT Tech complied and proved to the person that all the signals had been cancelled and the parent happily came to the play with no ill effects meanwhile the IT Tech watched and noticed loads of active wifi points from the phones of other parents watching the play which apparently had no ill effects on the 'sensitive' parent
  15. That's your problem right there You're believing the establishment again maybe the maps are lying maybe Oh s*d it - enough carp - they probably used to blame 2G anyway - they certainly blamed 3G - and 4G and wifi and all the while AC current is cabled all around and isn't a problem and - most weirdly - they are still all holding mobile phone up to their head and then carrying then round in their trouser pocket but whatever - best believe what you see on FaceTock as those are people you can trust because they are like me we are all screwed
  16. Who needs chemtrails when the whole country is covered by 5G radiation Technology moves on
  17. Maybe - just maybe - people who claim this is not true will fall victim to the chemicals in the evil vaccines that bill gates is forcing on the world There is no PROOF that the vaccines are not tuned to target people like this NO PROOF!!!!! go on - deny this FACT and show everyone how you are a slave to the system etc etc etc - I running out of dumb carp to say - and anyway I am starting to sound like trump
  18. So - who is the first to post that their school says it is the job of an IT Tech and in any case - if staff do it whiping mouse - few seconds - maybe 7 screen - few more 10-12 seconds keyboard is more complex - lets allow 30 so - lets say 45 seconds for each last IT room I had in a secondary had 26 computers 26 computers times 45 seconds well over 15 minutes which is not easy to do between 2 consecutive lessons
  19. I'd forgotten about Robin Hobb they were some of the books I read when I had a contact in a bookshop - Good reads!
  20. Gee thanks for that Now I'll have that tune running round my head all evening
  21. Are you implying that I should READ the posts before replying to them????????????????????? the rules on this site just get more and more complicated!!!!!!! (e.g. read the damn post before replying don;t replace apostrophes with semi-colons no political stuff don't wind up electric vehicle and Linux enthusiasts too much) It just goes on and on ) !!!!!!!
  22. No No No You can put your house up for sale - then they can come round to see you and look at the house probably from the chairs in the lounge or you can hire them to come and clean the house or you can do what out next door neighbours do and just have them round every damn day anyway (significant muttering has been going on here - wife probably can't see the grandkids for many weeks due to shielding so it really annoys us when we hear nextdoor sitting in the garden with family and grandkids)
