Oh I loved that film and would highly recommend. I love just about everything that Lego puts out. The humour really hits the mark with me. The Lego Movie is great, the Lego games, the Lego cartoons... everything really.

I can certainly recommend @VeryPC - just about all our PCs are Broadleafs (Broadleaves?!) now - 5 year warranty (with great service too) is a boon and low energy use will see your 'leccy bills drop too. Oh and of course @VeryPC_Colin_M is a legend at getting things done.

I would like to see shops being filled rather than joining the line of empty shops that make up a lot of High Streets these days, be they independent or not. All of these new Waterstones are on High Streets that no longer have independent book stores on them so there's no independent competition. Also, they all have signs in the window stating that the name of the shop is a trading name of Waterstones.

However, they do fit into the local area and better then a giant Waterstones taking over.

Yes, Smoothwall does content aware filtering and Sophos doesn't, which could have been a sticking point for us. However, whilst pulling in references from Sophos UTM users I was reassured that, as @localzuk stated, the URL filtering is very good. Sophos dedicates a lot of resources to processing the millions of submissions that they receive every day to keep ahead of emerging threats. They do this 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and new threats are pushed out to the boxes immediately. I feel ok with this.

Agreed. Getting stuff out is a chore. Simple stuff like getting the box to send the daily alert email is not as straight forward as it should be.

Yep. In the offer we had there were different levels you can go for but all included filtering and firewall. We went for the option with the VPN module (like SW has) Web Application Firewall (which was a big additional cost on top of the already sizeable SW renewal). If you want the bumf I was sent about it then let me know.

Moving from SW to Sophos in a couple of weeks. Was impressed by the demo we had (UI much better than SW) and the price was sensible (SW quote was just silly). I sought out some honest feedback from Sophos users and all were very positive.

Bit of an odd one this. Trying to image a laptop to Win 10 (using sccm here) and everything goes swimmingly during the WinPE phase: the NIC uses the driver on the boot disk and later on installs the driver into the Windows installation. However, as soon as the machine reboots into full Windows the NIC disappears. When I look in device manager it says that the device is not connected. The drivers are all present and correct. Any ideas?

Bit of Googling seems to indicate this can happen when WSUS is installed on a DC (MS state that WSUS should not be installed on a DC). People have reported that demoting the DC, installing WSUS, then promoting works, or a server rebuild. If possible it would be ideal to pur WSUS on a member server instead.

I think that it is worth paying attention to in terms of energy security given EDF building and running 3 new nuclear plants in the UK. The Flamanville reactor was turned off with a planned downtime of 4 days, this has now jumped to six weeks without explanation. It is estimated to be costing EDF between £1 million and £1.8 million a day. Closures last year cost EDF £1.8bn and is under financial pressure. RTE (who operate the French grid) have already warned that there may be power cuts due to the level of nuclear shutdowns. After Earth Now, this film received almost universal poor reviews and I can't really see why. There were some silly plot points* but overall a solid action movie that entertained us. *Like, why do the genetically modified human hunting creatures only hunt by smelling human fear. Why, no eyes or ears? Just fear? Really? ~~~~~~~Genetically modified human hunting creature development meeting~~~~~~~ Team Leader: "And so I think that everything is in place and that about wraps it up so let's get on and make this fear sensing, human hunting creature!" *team cheers* Team member: "Erm... excuse me but I can't help noticing on the design that the creature has no eyes or ears...?" Leader: *sighs* "Yes Alan it has no eyes or ears, ok let's get on with it" Alan: "Right yes but... why?" Leader: "Because it hunts on human fear Alan, ok right let's..." Alan: "Yes I know that but surely that should be in addition to their existing senses? I mean its a bonus feature right?" Leader: "Not this again Alan, you always do this!"
