So I had a quick look and Aristotle seems to be an Impero style product and utilises a client to do the filtering? Can't say I'd be too chuffed with that. What about guests or large byod schemes? The website over eggs the complexity of traditional filtering solutions. SSL decrypt and inspect isn't that difficult or expensive (resource wise). This issue is irritating but ultimately will blow over. Filter providers will sort it out and Chrome users can use a different browser for a bit. No biggie. I would hazard a guess that there is a reason that all major filtering providers do it the traditional way.

Why would they when we are all willing to pay for it? MS make a lot money from Office. Also not everyone wants to run the latest version of Office. Imagine if the embedded version of Office wasn't supported by Sims. What about people who don't use Office at all?

So, being connoisseurs of bad films, mrs_sparkeh and I settled down to watch The Cage on Netflix. The premise is that a girl who works on a chat line agrees to meet one of her clients and gets kidnapped and locked in a cell. Now, I have never been kidnapped and locked in a cell so I can't say with 100% accuracy what my reaction would be, but we were left confused by just how unfazed the girl appears to be about her predicament. She has her mobile so calls her boyfriend for a chat and explain that she is locked up but "will probably be released in a few days so don't worry"... what? Call the police? Nah we'll just leave it. Eh? The douchey boyfriend seems equally unbothered by her abduction and seems genuinely pissed at her for getting her self kidnapped. About 1/2 way through the girl finally seems to understand her situation so we are treated to a quick montage of fear/anger/despair. The police are finally contacted, but wait, they aren't that bothered either? Oh you work on a chat line do you? Ah these things are fairly common madam. Whaaaat? Fairly common? After a couple of improbable plots twists and a bit of family drama, we are at the end feeling wholey unsatisfied and fairly confused. We love a bad film, but the kind of "good bad film", this is just "bad bad"

Ok.... it gets weirder. I can see the kerberos requests hitting the server, and if I run klist on the client I can see a ticket from the UTM's hostname... yet still the winbind errors!

@Blue_Cookeh mind if I ask you what you have in your Network -> services -> DNS -> Fowarders and what you have in the Request Routing as well?

Thanks. No we don't specify the UPN. Basically, as I understand it, the UTM should just check in with the specified AD server and check username. I've read a few times that Kerberos doesn't even use the UPN in authentication. Its just so weird that users with UPN matching the domain can auth but those not matching can't. And there's literally no info out there on this suggesting its not usually a problem :S
