'Freedom of Information' Requests
sparkeh replied to Homer3334's topic in Data Protection & Information Handling
Sure, but we also have to point out what the actual rules are as people following your advice are breaking the law. -
Anybody know what happens with offline clients when you send a new connect.ini out from the S3 console? Will they get it when they come online or do only online clients get it? Cheers!

DirectAccess and user's ISP compatiability.... what do you do?
sparkeh replied to dry's topic in How do you do....it?
We stopped using it which was a real shame. Moved to an SSL VPN which seems to work for everyone. For some people it worked great. Interestingly, it was VM users that had no problems. For people on EE it dropped constantly. -
'Freedom of Information' Requests
sparkeh replied to Homer3334's topic in Data Protection & Information Handling
But that document doesn't support your case. You can only charge for actual costs incurred (excluding staff time). And you can't charge a fee to deter people making requests. In fact the document states the exact opposite to what you are doing -
Not again Use WSUS? This a communication issue: https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/3090184/how-to-troubleshoot-software-update-scan-failures-in-system-center-2012-configuration-manager ( I know that this is for SCCM but I think that error is related to WSUS).

'Freedom of Information' Requests
sparkeh replied to Homer3334's topic in Data Protection & Information Handling
I don't think that would really fly in this case. If the request was to reveal the bid of company during a current tendering process then yeah I think you could certainly refuse as it damages their commercial interests. However, once the contract has been awarded and you apply the public interest test I think the right to hold a public body's spending to account outweighs the commercial interest. -
mrs_sparkeh and I watched the new series of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt including the awesome Lemonade parody. Another great series This is also my new earworm! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l9SeD8g8QrE

[sccm 2012] Software not deploying to re-imaged machine
sparkeh replied to nicholab's topic in O/S Deployment
Also check that the machine doesn't think that installation is barred by being In working hours. I've had a bit of an issue with this recently after an update to sccm. Working hours are different to maintenance windows. -

Hmm I see. Off the top of head (if you haven't already tried these): * check smspxe log on server for errors * redistribute the boot images to your DP * make sure that unknown computer support in enabled on the DP and that there is a TS deployed to unknown computer group * disable pxe support on DP, wait for WDS to uninstall, reboot, enable pxe support on DP, wait for WDS to install, reboot. Try again. Sorry if you have tried all that, just be a shame to go through a new install when this should be fixable. [emoji3]

Conservatives are generally from the upper crust. Just in it to look after their dough, but using their flourery language to butter us up and tempt us to vote for them. I think they've got this election won though, tomorrow they'll baguette and I'll have a cob on. Unless they win a sizeable majority though, I think that May is toast.

For any Win OS that you apply from a .wim really. If you apply it without that then uses the drive letter that was used during the capture of the wim so could end up with anything. To be sure use the above Here's a guide, there is a section on MDT: https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/system_center_configuration_manager_operating_system_deployment_support_blog/2014/04/28/how-to-ensure-that-windows-installs-on-c-during-a-system-center-2012-configuration-manager-osd-task-sequence/

If you just want the Classic Start then you only need to install the Classic Start component (this is what I do). Alternatively if you want to deploy this you can add a switch to tell it just to install Classic Start, so my commandline looks like this (note that this is for an old version so your msi name will be different depending on version used) msiexec /i "ClassicShellSetup64_4_2_5.msi" ADDLOCAL=ClassicStartMenu /qn

Sure, here is a good place to start:http://www.edugeek.net/forums/windows-10/163286-windows-10-start-menu-working-solution.html @Michael has done the heavy lifting for us

With win 10 I ditched the native start menu as it's garbage (too unreliable and breaks with every build). I use Classic Start and use GPPs to build the start menu based on user type and installed software. Works great.

Captain Fantastic Funny, moving, thought provoking, this is one of the best movies I have watched in a long time and highly recommend it.
