Not again. It is being treated as a terror attack. Mutliple injuries reported and one fatality reported. Suspect shot and detained by police. I saw this come up on my phone as we were preparing to initiate a lock-down drill.

Yeah, I will do that. I have no idea why it doesn't have one and it would make sense whilst the system is drained. Ok, I won't try that then! Last thing I want is for more radiators to stop working correctly, especially when it's getting this cold!

If I recall correctly, the piping is 9mm with 15mm adapters to the radiator valves. The property was built in 1985, so it's not that old. I'll give that a go this evening and see what happens. That's what I thought, but I don't want to spend money on something that won't fix it, if I can help it! I haven't tried removing any valves and I don't think I'm confident enough to try because I have no idea what I'm doing. The last thing I want is to remove something and not be able to put it back together.

Thanks for the replies. Yeah, I plan on getting someone to look at it, it's just finding someone. Unfortunately I don't know of any decent plumbers, so I'll have to ask around at work. I certainly don't think I'll be attempting it myself. I'm pretty useless at DIY and I know that my central heating doesn't have any drain off taps, so it has to be done by disconnecting one of the pipes and draining it into a pan or something. Also the piping is smaller than the standard piping (learnt this the hard way when I had a previous plumber in and things didn't go too well...). I also don't have an outside tap or pressure washer to hose through the radiator! I've contacted a plumber and it looks like it'll cost about £300 to replace the radiator and it would be the other side of Christmas. The guy did suggest getting it flushed instead (which they don't do), so I've requested a quote to another company for having the entire system flushed.

The radiator in my living room has been faulty since I bought the property two years ago. It's warm-hot at the top and cold at the bottom, which is the opposite of the common 'it needs bleeding' issue. I have bled it anyway, just to be sure. I'm suspecting that it has 'sludge', a build up of gunk at the bottom of the radiator. This is the last radiator in the system and the feed pipe to it is scolding hot, however the return pipe is luke warm at best. All other radiators are working perfectly. The common fix for sludge in a radiator is to remove it and blast it out with a power washer or clean/flush the entire system. Both of which appear to be more expensive than just replacing the radiator My question is; Do you think replacing the radiator would fix the issue? I wouldn't be doing this myself, I'd be getting someone in to do it. I don't really want to spend the money, only for it not to fix it.

Unfortunately I don't have the cost as it was all purchased by my manager. I think he managed to get a promo or discount, but unfortunately I don't even have a ballpark figure.

We have VEEAM creating synthetic backups and we copy these to Google Drive using RClone over a weekend on a monthly schedule. We have a two other NAS devices in other buildings with 'air gaps' for disaster recovery if the backup SAN dies or something. These Google backups are purely for if we lose all three buildings in a, well, disaster. Therefore we have deemed it acceptable to only keep monthly backup files in Google Drive. It's worth noting that Google have a throttling measure in place - when you reach 750GB in a 24 hour period, they massively throttle you. So if you do need to recover from a disaster, take the time to download into account. We'd consider taking NAS devices to local schools with fast Internet connections and getting some downloading there

We bought into Applicaa earlier this year and used it for this year's enrollment. It was a difficult pitch to management because they didn't understand why we needed it. However when the work load involved of admin staff was explained to them, where the forms had to be manually typed into SIMS, handwriting decrypted, etc...we finally won them over. We had a couple of parent's induction days/evenings in May where the parents came in and were split into groups and taken to IT suites, where we had pre-logged on the computers and had the website ready to go. We had pre-enrolled all of the pupils into Applicca from our council applications, including the email address provided by the parents, so that they had accounts created. If no email was provided, we created fake accounts named like "studentname@sjw"...it doesn't have to be a real or even valid email address format. As long as something was in the field and was unique to the student. We also created generic passwords for the accounts (which they have to change when they log in). The parents took seats and signed in using their email address and the provided password. For those with no email addresses, we found the students names and entered the fake email address we assigned. Once in, the parents can complete the online forms. Of course you'll have parents that don't know all the information, such as the address of the GP, etc...but they can be provided at a later stage. Once the parent had completed the form, one of us admins in Applicca had to print off the completed application form (which can take 30 seconds to generate the PDF) so that the parents can sign it to confirm all the details are correct and it can be hard-filed (a legal requirement I believe). Once that group finished, they swapped for the second group. We are a school with 40+ languages spoken and we had our Year 10/11 prefects and helpers around to help translate for the parents when they had issues. We also had some of the admin staff come and stay in the classroom with us, so they could provide assistance. What type of institution are you? We are a small secondary school and have noticed that Applicca appears to be mainly geared towards sixth forms/colleges and we had to make requests for changes to the way some data was entered into SIMS, writing to certain fields, etc.

Windows 10 updates twice a year and each version has it's own support end date. The idea is that you update to a newer version of Windows 10 before your version reaches end of support and that cycle repeats.

Our students are using 19" monitors (1366x768) and our staff use 22" monitors (1920x1080). How the governor the two monitors side by side. The difference in the amount of information you can fit on the 22" is shockingly more.

Frozen II - 8/10 I wasn't sure how I felt about Frozen II because I didn't feel it could be as good as the original, which I really enjoyed. Turns out that it isn't quite as good as the original, but it's not too far off. It's also more of a musical than the original (which stopped being a musical about half-way through). I was sat in the cinema smiling most of the way through it and I would recommend seeing it. However Kristoff's song at around the mid-way point was a bit out of place for me - it didn't seem to fit with the rest of the film.

I really hope they don't change it in any way. They did well enough with GBBO keeping the format, despite the obvious requirement of inserting ads. Greg Davies has confirmed he is also returning for the next series on Channel 4. Apparently Alex Horne originally pitched it to Channel 4 and they didn't want it. Obviously UKTV got it and stuck it on Dave...and it became huge. It has to be one of my favourite programmes and some of those tasks would make great party games. Tree Wizard!

Impero can't stop users searching the Start Menu for applications, however like @mavhc said, it can prevent the applications from being launched. Alternatively, I think you can use a redirected Start Menu and just not include Chrome.

Watched ep1 of War of the Worlds last night - enoyed it. You can tell that they didn't have a large CGI budget, but I enjoyed it anyway. I also watched ep4 of His Dark Materials - really enjoying this show. I did notice that Harry Edward Melling (Dudley from Harry Potter) appeared in both shows!

We let our staff use iPads to take photos and we use an app called QFile to automatically copy the photos to a network share (which is actually our backup SAN). We then use a script to move the photos from that network share to the staff shared area and it creates folders based on the year, month and day. The script is looped and uses a scheduled task to run even when nobody is logged in. So photos taken today would go into "J:\iPad Photos\2019\11\19" and it's up to the staff to search through them. The QFile app can be configured and passcode protected to stop misconfiguation, though the upload only works when the app is running (even in the background). So all our staff have to do is take photos on the iPad, press the QFile icon (it will show the passcode screen) and either leave it or press the home button. Photos will automatically appear in the staff share folder and they can find them.

I have a QNAP TVS-1271U-RP, which is our backup SAN for our VEEAM backups, connected via 10GbE to our production storage (HP MSA). I am currently rebuilding the storage in it due to storage limitations. We previously had 9x 3TB drives in RAID5. I now have 5x 8TB drives and plan on using RAID6. I am in a dilemma as to the configuration of the volume - do I just create a new basic storage pool, or do I use iSCSI instead? Unfortuantely my knowledge on iSCSI is limited and I'm currently doing some research. Am I going to see any benefits using iSCSI compared to a standard storage pool?

If the iPads are popular bookable resources, don't you need larger capacity ones to handle the profiles for each user? We never used that because our iPads are all 32GB and we decided they wouldn't be large enough.

We've been using VEEAM fora few years now and here is our basic setup: Each server has it's own job (instead of grouping together) and jobs are all scheduled to start at 10pm daily, with the jobs limited to 4 concurrent jobs VEEAM backs up production data to local SAN using the forward incremental method with a 30 day retention. (Other job settings include things like vmware quiescencing, change block tracking, application-aware processing, guest file system indexing, etc) The jobs are also set to create weekly synthetic backup files (these are load spread across the week to help load on the backup device - synethic jobs create new full backup files based on merging previous incremental backups together - the load is entirely on the storage device, not the server/network) Three more jobs also configured; End of Term 1 - 24th December each year, End of Term 2 - 2nd Sunday of April each year and End of Year - 31st July each year. These are for long term data retention and the EoY files can be copied off to other media or cloud for archiving A backup copy job is configured for each job with the target as another NAS in a different building (as a fire safety precaution) We use RClone monthly to copy off the synthetic backup file to our cloud repository Backup jobs are encrypted within the job settings We do not currently backup Office 365, which with VEEAM, requires a separate license and application if I recall correctly. I don't know how that stacks up with other configurations, but it's served us well over the years.

I'd highly recommend the enterprise version as you can manage block access to settings, manage extensions, block incognito mode, block signing in, force safe search and so much more using the supplied GPOs. I don't think those policies will apply against the non-enterprise version of Chrome.

I believe the only official MSI for Chrome is for the enterprise version. Is there a reason you don't want to use the enterprise version for what is effectively an enterprise environment? Le Mans 66 (Ford vs Ferrari) - 9/10 I saw this at last week's secret screening event at my local Cineworld. I was planning on seeing it anyway, as I do like motor racing and like both Matt Damon and Christian Bale. The film exceeded my expectations an even the person I went with enjoyed it (and they're not a car/racing person!). The cars/racing almost take a back seat (pardon the pun) to the actual story of the film, which mainly centres around the relationship between Shelby and Miles and them going about the task of performing this feat. It was maybe a bit too long at 152 minutes but it's been one of my favourite films of the year so far. I had completely forgotten that I saw this last week and you prompted me to add it into this thread.

Midway - 6/10 This film was an OK war film. The action was good (though some CGI didn't hold up imo) and the second half was better than the first. I think it suffered from pacing issues and it was too long at 138 minutes.

Is this available through SCCM SUP? I have enabled Upgrades in my SUP and done another sync, but that KB isn't appearing when I search for it in all available updates.
