I also note it is saying under the age of 18 all the way through it so ensure you seek it from the parents of Sixth Form students and not just the students. .

Have you imported the A2C keys (thats not the right name but basically the special files you need from the exam boards secure areas to authorise the A2C application). I have just upgraded our Exams Officers machine and it didnt carry them over so need to re-download them on Monday morning when she's back in.

Can agree with that one, as can @Soulfish as he's done a new school. I even had the M&E plans at BETT 2012 in my bag and working on them that is how busy it was, however from an IT Perspective the end results were good, data where we wanted it, power where we wanted it in most cases (few sockets needed tweaking and in one case an extra one they fitted by mistake removed as they swiped the spot I needed for my in-wall amp! Yes I did make them take the extra socket out!) When they say you will get access to do your final works on date X which is 3 weeks before the building opens assume that date is actually Z which is 48hrs before the teachers come in and move back into rooms AKA don't want you drilling, making holes in ceilings for speakers, projectors etc... and thus makes it 72hrs before the students are back. If I was to do it again, I would happily do it again, but want more direct involvement in some aspects, there was a lot of being the middle man but not just a middle man it was go to someone else who went to someone else who went to someone else all to discuss a bit of MDF or a socket being moved (politics in our case created that and not our own ones) in the end where the contractors could they took a shortcut of asking us direct and never mentioned it to those elsewhere as that would have been a problem as we were not suppose to be asked some stuff directly etc... I would also contract out more of the works I usually do, we do all our own in-house AV stuff and the time-scale were too tight so me and my team worked a lot of extra hours to get things sorted which in-hindsight I should have contracted out some of the AV work but all my local tried and trusted firms were also very busy with last minute disasters due to over-running building projects (its a common thing apparently....) The advice others have given above is sound advice, think ahead and to the future the structured cable is a very mighty beast we send power data video & audio over ours and you can never have enough points, hide them above ceilings above doors, in the centre of rooms etc... you never know how much you are going to need till its too late.

Full agreed with @localzuk these reports are biased and a bit of a scaremongering. A good BYOD setup costs a lot of money and time for hardware for infrastructure, training, support and getting it all right. Our place was a bit of want BYOD, I was it needs to be secure X Y and Z have to happen first which took time to sort and even more money, we have done it in the end as part of major refresh of our IT Infrastructure as this was a key feature of it but that wasn't a cheap setup by any stretch of the means but the excellent work we have done with @Net-Ctrl for both Ruckus and Juniper has ensured we achieved our goals and working with Smoothwall on the filtering side has given us an excellent BYOD setup and our Sixth Form are befitting from it.

Must admit I am enjoying it, be better on an Android Tablet than my S2.... must resist buying a tablet just for a game...... I'm on level 9 and may have bought a few Doughnuts to ease my way in

You maybe want something like the Fizzbook Spin that is resold by many people The Official Fizzbook Website is the website but I don't know who resells them down in Oz, but they are made in the far east so suspect there must be someone who can help.

Sad when a bit of humour which is harmless isn't noticed as someone that has filled numerous of them statement forms in its boring and time consuming and the CPS love paperwork so time to have a bit of humour

I use it (there isn't many bit's I don't use across the fleet....) I like it and it does a good job at sorting the spam out, I put a couple of feature requests in for the Zap module (email scanning) and most of them are now in the product such as the quarantine notices if no spam is held which I know other EG members also requested and a couple of other bits. The quality of scan is good, most spam is correctly identified and the odd bit that comes through seems to be caught up with by the definition updates within 36hrs. One thing I have noticed is we don't get much virus based emails which either is that its missing them (which would be worrying) or we are just not prone to that. At one of my previous schools we were prone to a lot of email virus attacks as well as spam but I guess that might have died away now as a threat for the moment. I am happy with the Anti-Virus on the general browsing so it is working well on that, in-fact we were one of the test sites for the new Vipre AV engine that replace the old Clam one and we found it picked up a lot of sites and prevented access which was great stopping them at the gateway So yes very happy and not having any issues so well worth adding on if you have your own in-house mail system
