  1. Its a very expensive place having been several times your wallet knows your in it! Also its a major commuter country, its like The City of London... go past 8pm its dead and weekends its a ghost town same in Luxembourg lots of people just do the 9-5 or Mon-Fri and then go back to Germany / France / Belgium and enjoy life in those places.
  2. Ive always had a 20 quid tester I got from Overclockers think it was a few years ago it removes the need of the paperclip as its designed for that job, it does a basic is it ok and alive feature and has multi-meter points and shows you which points to do to what and what range should be its from Antec if i remember
  3. For those that still follow this the UK announced its entry today - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/newsbeat-51634461 On a personal level, I was at school with James and know him and his brother so obviously I am rooting for him to win for us (as a great win for Yorkshire and the UK) his younger brother John is more famous I would say, I'd liken James to the latest Carole King as he writes a massive amount of stuff for others (as that article says) but a great singer in his own right so give him and his brother a look up. Remember this is done by the EBU - https://www.ebu.ch/home (https://www.ebu.ch/projects/tv/eurovision-song-contest) so is nothing to do with that topic that is Political!
  4. Not to insult your current skill set but have you ever done a Manager training course for the people you manage? I know a few people have done them, its all about the people so not an IT course, and teaches you good skills for managing you team so could be useful for the CV and may have some cool things for you to learn about.
  5. This will be Clevertouch as its part of Sahara which is them, is that not the built in digital signage feature the screens have now - https://www.clevertouch.com/uk/education/clever-message-for-education
  6. I will re-open this thread, please stay away from the Politics around this, open sensible professional debate on this possible change is fine but School Funding Formulae, how a school spends it etc is NOT permitted as there are many things people may not be aware of in individual schools and its Political and we are not permitting Political discussion. Please be kind to each other and stay off the abusing each other and schools priorities and respect different schools may have different issues / approaches no-ones is right or wrong at this time given we do not have a concrete clear details on how its going to run yet
  7. What phones do you have most phones that are Skype for Business certified will support teams for a couple of years only the Polycom CX series are not teams supported but VVX's are as are Yealink and Audiocodes ones. We are running Teams only mode for a number of users (on a staged migration) on VVX's and all seem fine (well as fine as a VVX is which is not for this thread!)
  8. Keep it short and sweet as if you start Syncing SharePoint Library's that come with the Teams then the path for them is long if the team name is say "Joe Blogs Academy Financial Reporting Team" as that all is part of the file path and then you hit stupid 1980s character limits with Excel. So we have lived and learnt from that where I am and keep everything short so each team has a group ID at the start and we have shortened everything down as much as we can.

Would recommend GBM they are a good bunch of people - https://gbmdt.co.uk/
  10. You need to find the contract and read the T&Cs I'm afraid. Its something that has caught me out before when inheriting things and its very annoying. If you have services you want to retain with them a good account manager maybe willing to come to an arrangement EG future longer tie in on the other services / extension of agreement etc but they don't have to if that is what the agreement says. Its worrying how many folk don't read / note these things and get caught, we don't allow auto long term renewals on any contract where I work (or have worked in the past) we remove that clause and state beyond minimum term its X months (a number that is usually enough for us to contract a new firm if we want to change) or its non-auto renewing to ensure you don't get your rear bitten. Most firms are accepting of this if more do that it will get firm to change. Its the same related to SLAs and payments I will flag and challenge them on contracts to make them beneficial to us if you want my business you will either agree or compromise with us so we get a balance of power between both us and the other party. Does take some challenging at times but has brought dividends
  11. I was just saying to our office manager when I showed her this article that it must be so confusing for those who don't know stations / language barriers etc if your looking for an exact station on paper and get London St Pancakes instead of Pancras must be bad haha
  12. I see the new London station opened for today only... https://metro.co.uk/2020/02/25/tfl-rename-station-london-st-pancake-shrove-tuesday-12299306/
  13. You need to go through your records retention schedule for sure, you will have data older than scheduled to keep unless you have legitimate reason to keep beyond that I would expect if you seriously have 25 years of archive tapes. Also you said the Bursar had these tapes at there house... assume they are all encrypted tape? Stored security in a location only they can get in safe bolted down so cannot be stolen if they are broken into etc? It would be much more safe and secure to get a fireproof safe on-site rated for time and the use and then ensure your fire plan covers its location etc...
  14. I don't think this feature exist in full online, this blog - https://practical365.com/exchange-online/office-365-email-address-policies/ shows its not actually functional in O365 and the documentation on MS site is all related to on-premise installs that is from https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powershell/module/exchange/email-addresses-and-address-books/new-emailaddresspolicy?view=exchange-ps So looks like its script time for now if your now full online only.
  15. If you Wrap the Code Tag around your Text it shouldn't mess with it as per this example its with a closed tag at the end or in the advanced editor its the # button
  16. Whilst I am in business not Edu, we use O365 for mail and it goes to the Online Archive after 2 years in the main mailbox, that archive (along with primary mailbox) is then kept based on records retention schedule as determined by our Legal Department based on GDPR / DPA etc... as we work globally that adds some extra challenges based on local laws in some places as well as auditability frameworks EG SOX in the US. We are looking into training key teams on the Retention tags given our Records Retention schedule has different lengths for different matters EG Job Applicants data held for X months post interview etc these apply across Outlook / Exchange, SharePoint, Teams etc so we can be even better at it as we accept we are not perfect. This stuff applies in Education as well such as I remember SEN children's data used to have to be held till they were older than a non SEN child, looked after children were even longer than that etc... O365 also helps us in relation to deleted emails as all mail is within that environment delete it its records still exist in the back end so we can produce if required / ensure that if someone was being inappropriate / hiding illicit goings on (yes it has happen) they can be pulled back from the system to be used in Court (either for our benefit or not as the case maybe). Until you have to do the searching / do a test of a search to simulate such request and people have to think and look you don't realise how much work goes into these things. We talked though a test case as a group here and was quite alarming how much we would need to do to be confident we have searched everything. You have to go into peoples files, if they are on C Drives / local disks you cannot find them easily so you need those users laptops / desktops and search them, pulled the email to a local PST and no journaled copy then that needs it to be found etc its a serious amount of work. Mobile phones did someone text someone / whatsapp someone about it etc... its a serious minefield. A common one we get requests to be forgotten off mailing lists... some teams have extracted data from the mailing list tool to local sheets for further analysis, we then have to ask teams to search for that data if its not stored in O365 where we can do a discovery for it, some even have printed it "for backup" and you have to chase them to confirm in writing to our Legal team they have shredded / blanked out that record (and they usually get a reminder of stop printing that stuff out unless essential!).
  17. Does full cloud have the "Automatically update email addresses based on the email address policy applied to this recipient" tick box on the Email Address tab? If so untick that, apply, then re-tick and apply and it will re-evalute it for the policies.
  18. If you have the data and its within your records and data retention policy then yes (if its not why have they not been destroyed). What you asked is like saying I looked in my inbox and cannot find it but i may have them all in subfolders under my inbox / its not in the top drawer of the filing cabinet but its in the 2nd one etc... If its a valid record you need to search it be it paper, tape, CD, DVD, USB Stick etc...

  20. True, I would still expect it depends on whats its asking / demanding from the switch, advanced diagnostics / debug settings on the switch will probably reveal a little more if enabled I'd expect.
  21. Closing this guys to keep it clean and this competition finished ages ago and @ICTDirect_Dave has made his new thread already so no need!
  22. I may have mis-read something, the spec of that Zebra item claims its 802.3af PoE support (https://www.zebra.com/gb/en/products/interactive-kiosks/mk500-micro-kiosk.html): Yet 802.3af spec https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power_over_Ethernet#Standard_implementation so would think the switches are going you are 802.3af you are allowed 350mA and if its pulling more / not asking right it will drop it where as a cheapo PoE adapter will probably not care anything like a switch and thus work as it probably doesn't need that full power but the switch will be being cautious I would guess?
  23. https://compatibility.plantronics.com/deskphone?region=GB&lang=en&_ga=2.254105231.643970663.1582115667-520100992.1582115667 is the Poly config tool put your make of phone in it will tell you exactly what you need to get / choose to make it work. That shows that model as being ok and a recommended part.
  24. I'd argue the support & quality statement isn't always true. Whilst I am in a commercial sector not Edu, Meraki Support has sucked. We've had issues for a few months with the Wifi and basically Meraki turned round and said we cannot find anything wrong with us so it must be external. Due to my location we do see 100+ other SSIDs so its a tough space but it has always been that, its not a new feature / change that made that happen but Meraki Support were less than satisfactory they just have not been interested and didn't really want to help. One conversation with @Net-Ctrl and I now have some Ruckus in on Eval to help test the theory out of if this is External interference / issue or not... deployed the Ruckus in as identical setup as we can EG Same locations, SSIDs, VLANs, Auth setups etc and the Ruckus is just working without fault and the issues gone, staff complaints vanished etc.... I expected this being a long standing Ruckus user and having had many say go elsewhere save money etc this to me has just shown exactly why its always been worth spending the money on Ruckus with a good partner such as @Net-Ctrl to me.
  25. I use the Netgear metal ones at home totally silent and been bulletproof for over 6 years now no issues at all.
