Martin at AW is brilliant and always looked after me well and they sell lot of makes as they just want the good and best for the job rather than the vendor that gives them the best freebies etc

Skype for Business AKA Lync AKA OCS can log all conversations to the Exchange Mailbox of the user and then you can obviously use / set any retention etc as per Exchange so it has options as well.

Where about's in the UK are you someone maybe able to suggest a good local AV firm who could come advise and help with the issues you indicate perhaps and give you the best options for your site then.

I had both Tosh and Kyocera in my previous job and the firm that serviced them swapped the Kyocera out themselves at there own expense as when pushed they just failed and were unreliable and gave us some refurbished Toshiba's that never went wrong. They inherited the Kyocera arm through an aquistion they made as they would never have sold us them it would have been Toshiba or Ricoh.

I wear some black Timberland Boots, from the EarthKeepers range rather than the more traditional style boots I wear them daily and have a bit of a trek both ends of my commute on the hard pavements of London and get 18 months of so out of them before the tred has worn. I got 18 months on my last ones an only swapped them as the snow and ice left me skating a bit too much so still have them and can wear them just ensure its a non-ice day!

Unless its changed, student records for most are DOB + 25 years, looked after were longer, that was the North Yorkshire LA retention schedule when I last worked in schools, so you need to think of this on multiple levels. First is what you are likely to need to view back on screen, print, analyse easily etc.. so its not uncommon for your upper sixth to need to go back to year of entry to your school (so that is your 8) but then you may need to re-print things for students gone for 2 or 3 years so maybe 10-12 years in your case having such a range of year groups perhaps? But you then need to meet the requirements on what you must store for the length required (if such regulation exists still) so how can you achieve that if you only kept say 10 years of the old MIS? Do you keep the SQL Database and do you know how to interrogate it, I know some are easier than others, do you retain the software in some limited way, I believe Facility had a license type for that at one type (threads on this on here) not sure on other products. Very much should be a multi-view item I think and I am sure you will get other answers from others who have changed MIS as well

Each disk makes an individual VMDK file in the LUN so it is possible you have multiple vmdk's in a LUN. Snapshot also make files in the LUN to track the changes. For hunting Zombies, I strongly suggest you download RVTools - https://www.robware.net/rvtools/ and connect to your VCentre or host if you just have 1 and look at the vHealth tab in that and it shows suspected Zombies as follows: Be warned if the LUNS are shared with other hosts that RVtools cannot see, for example if you use VMware without a vCentre server so connect to an individual host, or you use VVOls you may find more marked than you expect so double check before you go deleting anything, should your LUNS be exclusive for the host(s) and if you have vCentre and go via it you should be safe to delete what it says are Zombies. RVtools is free so anyone using VMware should have it on your PC its a great thing and shows more than Zombies.

Maximum size is the biggest it could be made and is based on the space on the LUN that disk resides on For example: That disk is on a 1TB LUN but it shared with others so I can only expand it to that size shown, if I need to go bigger I need to make more space EG Move disks off the LUN, expand the LUN etc Does that help? Things to look for are Snapshots they grow so if you took some ensure you threw them away, if you've disposed of VMs did you remember to tell it to delete the disks? A useful tool is RVTools to help look through and find Zombie VMDKs, issues with Snapshots etc...

Wow how big is your setup?! We run it globally and at most have about 8 VMs tops in a site and that is a large site with Edge, Web App Server etc.. so sounds like you over-spec'd it big time on the boxes unless you have thousands of users? @robk was testing online at one point so he may have some comments.

No support from the PBX Support firm I take it to get them to swap the card just-incae? I assume if you swap them over the error follows the ports? If so I'd say line provider if the fault is always the same port on the PBX maybe the card / config derpy?
