The new keyboards are rubbish, we have sent back every single one of our new MacBook pro's (over 30 of them) for new keyboards. I have had my new 13" MacBook pro a week and the caps lock key is dodgy already!

Mosyle should served your needs well and its cheap too

You can do everything that Jamf can do with a collection of open source tools such as Munki and Puppet (puppet isn't necessary for most people but may be in your situation) which will give you most of the benefits (you would have to pay for an MDM such as Mosyle or simpleMDM) that you can host on side
-
In reality each mac should need no more than 10 mins physical involvement, the best way to achieve this is with an MDM and munki (for software deployment) Also there is a Mac subforum and a great slack called MacAdmins with loads of people that will help you out if you need it!

Multiple iPhones using the same Apple ID

^it also goes against apples recommendations, What are the reasons for them being signed into an apple ID? as I expect that there are alternative ways to achieve that solution! -
I would say a place like the Mac Admins slack would be the best place to ask about what MDM's to use, I am in the process of purchasing Mosyle Buisness for my company, their support is better than Microsoft will ever be and its a product 100% designed to work with the apple ecosystem. As a general rule of thumb that some other Mac Admins I have spoken to is, if it claims to support more than 1 platform, don't use it! (there will obviously be exceptions to this.)

What was the outcome of your demo @FN-GM? looking to get a helpdesk system in place here but we are mac based and only have linux based web servers and we don't really want to set up a windows one (which spiceworks requires)
-
We use GlobalProtect which is made by Palo Alto networks, They use the VPN to connect to any internal web apps such as purchasing systems and other internal apps (they can not be accessed without it on) its as simple for the user to enter their AD Credentials (as the portal is put in during installation) and they are connected. In terms of remote desktop, we don't provide a solution for it and just install the software on the laptops them selfs.

Anyone know how to easily apply the same BIOS settings to lots of laptops, the specific mode that I want to do it on is a dell Latitude 5290. I know that with the older modes you could set up a device with all of the settings then run a dell tool which would give you a .exe to run on the other devices which would then apply those settings to the other devices. I hope someone knows how to do it

We paid a company to build it for us, we then host it on our onsite web server. -
We are told to use their initials and tutor group.

Projector remotes going missing from room

I assume that they keep the key and the remotes live in the box the whole time. -

@Fazza I saw some of them referenced on a different forum that I came across but I could not find anywhere to purchase them. Where do you get yours from?
