What make / model is your firewall that would probably help in its manual or someone may have the same one so can be more helpful if we have that.

Is using a SIP client on a smart phone not an option? I have had a SIP number for a number of years and just have an app on my Mobile and use the wifi / normal data and get my calls in and out without any problems. If you want to have a "normal" phone as such, I have in a the past used a version of https://www.best4systems.co.uk/siemens-gigaset-c475ip-sip-compatible-dect-voip-phone.html and it worked well and to the end user felt more like a normal phone which was a requirement to keep it simple. Alternativley you could just get normal DECT Cordless phones and put a SIP ATA behind them, I do this for my mum so a small Cisco ATA hidden away and the normal base-station plugs into it and the phones just work as normal but much cheaper / free for many things.

As others have said, MS expect you to use the webapps on Chromebooks if you pop the older ones on they are EOL and promote the website version.

You are right there is limits, the Leeds market for L2 engineers isn't at an average of 50K at this time. As its a business role rather than Edu we don't have scales / bands it genuinely is depending on experience and skills the candidate brings to the table. I believe, based on other similar roles in the Leeds area, the right candidate will be able to negotiate a suitable salary and the wider benefits package which includes shares in the company usually go down well.

The more I look at the forecast for this long weekend the more I think I'll end up with trench foot. I believe there is a buzzer version as well for those that want some noise!

Hey All, There is a great opportunity opened up at Smoothwall based in Leeds, it is a Hybrid role with 1 day a week in the Leeds city center office (about 7 mins walk from the train station), but at busy times it will need an extra couple of days in the office to get tasks done that need in-person presence such as preparing and shipping hardware to new hires and new hire day 1 IT Inductions. It is based within the internal IT & Security Team so you won't be customer facing but will be supporting the circa 500 staff globally as the IT Helpdesk and projects are run globally across the Qoria group. The role is perfectly suited for someone who is looking for a new challenge but is already competent with the day to day work as well as having worked with a range of systems / services such as ticketing (including those favorites of I forgot my password or I watered my laptop), networking, EDR, SSO, VOIP, Documentation, Asset Management, Meeting Room / Conference tools, various operating system support etc... Being happy to be physically hands on repairing / upgrading devices is also needed but please don't be worried about needing a stack of certifications or knowing the exact products that are in-use as there is a lot of different systems and solutions used within Smoothwall and wider Qoria group, so a willingness to learn and get stuck in and be hands on is going to be essential and stand you in a great spot. Hence coming here as it would be perfect for someone wanting to make that step outside of education and into the commercial world whilst still being connected to the world of Education and if your an existing customer wanting to come over that would make people like @tom_newton very happy as he loves having customers come to the dark side (but don't worry if your not a customer its not essential!) I've been a BCS member for years, it's fully tax deductible as well so I get my fee back through my tax code as its officially recognised on the HMRC list so costs nothing in the end. Benefits of it not mega sadly I don't find but had some interesting meet ups in the past and did help at some job interviews.

Another vote for snipe on self host so no costs then due can run on a very basic setup an old computer would be fine.

Its been a brilliant 17, not far off 18 years on EduGeek! Like many its saved my bacon, brought me 2nd hand printers from @Ric_ in his Edu job back near Blackpool, got me an EduJob and several interviews, introduced suppliers to me who have become lifelong friends and I have continued to work with them in my Edu and corporate jobs as we all know how important a good strong supportive reliable vendor. It truly is a great asset to the IT world and I'd not be where I am today without it and wouldn't have made some great friendships along the way. Who wouldn't want to spend your working day working with @Ric_ and @Domino which I did for over 5 years, we added @Little-Miss to our extended family (she didn't come work with us but joined us in the pub often) and then we all grew up / got old? and moved onto new challenges but never forgot here and the pleasure it brings and what it means to give back to the Edu community. A highlight for me is BETT and I take a week off work (although my phone never goes quiet in my job) to just come and do that and give back and continue to support the community that everyone has worked to build from @Dos_Box's original early ideas. Get that box (or man) an OBE for this!
