get a WI-FI extender with a LAN port. as they will extend the WLAN to the LAN, like a reverse AP. if your struggling for signal you could try a cupple of directional aerials and some are really easy to make. EG the and after very extensive testing without using a parabolic dish this will create the best directional antenna. if you really wanted to try something and had a few old machines you could set up an ax25 network over a walkie talkie , bit slow tho.

log in as administrator then do the installation, upgrades etc. i have noticed that there is a pop up on non dc connected machines for installing things from Standard user accounts but this does not seem work on domain computers. my advice witch is recommended anyway is to log out and back in as a domain admin do the work and log out and back in as a user. Your normal account does not have any administrator privileges by the sounds of things. if you are a proper admin then you will need to lift your privileges by adding your username the group Domain Admin in active directory.

I have wondered if this is at all possible as it would dramatically increase re image times, help with software role out and a whole host of other issues. and you could store the vm's on a server to be copied across if new version's become available. but it would have to integrate better than VMware currently does with USB devices and other hardware etc. some kind of hyperviser with a good fount end like a normal desktop vmware. so that it boots up directly into the vm image via the host.

youd be better just sticking with the bat file for the above and i don't know why your mapping t to then disconnect? you can access shares via bat files getting rid of the two lines. having it in a vbs just makes it hard to modify and ten times more dificult to create. yea vbs is grate for things like pauses or complicated steps but for the sake of the above stick with a bat. you could put a check in make shure it hasent allready been run and if it has exit. then deploy it via a GPO, thats how we do it.

I get "Were Sorry, This video was not found." Im going through lancsngfl. so there's a high possibility the content is blocked without having access to it it will be difficult to find the URL, also a possibility tho slim is there having server trouble. i would suggest trying to white list "http://nationalgeographic.com" as they seem to use "images.nationalgeographic.com" and "videos.nationalgeographic.com" etc worth a go but i dont see the video url in the page code so i cant tell you without access to the actual working site. you could if you had a proxy look and see what it was trying to access in the backend.

So u support 1299 Pc's are you the only techs there or is there a front line if you will. and how do you go about maintenance. this really does sound a silly amount.

can i ask how many education techs are term time only? Just becta suggested that it should be 1:100, Full time, Full year (if working on machine calculations) Or 1:101~, Full time, Full year (If working from the number of users). we currently run 1:137 term time only, and have to support and clean the network, projectors, pc's, all the other maintenance. and SLT wont give us full year job's, not to mention there upping our workload buy a lot we will be 1:235~ in September fun times.

you can get the @facebook.com email address any way even if its not displayed go on there page friend or not and copy the last bit normaly there name or id number stick the @fbook on the end walla so even if they do hide them expect emails

i supposedly have the server address but i get a 530 error each time i try it 530=Authentication. i have no faith in this company what so ever.

I have already tried this with this software package but it misses out the images and some of the pages from our site so i dont know exactly where the stuff is stored or how the crawler works as it is all in the same web directory. i suspect some of them are linked in by a CSS sheet some where to be honest. also they are supposed to be supplying me with ftp access but as of yet they have only given me a username and password and when i asked what the server address was he gave me the name of his web hosting company. is it me or has some one lost the plot.

one of the local charity's i help out asked me to have a quick look at up dating the events on there site as they are still back in 09 so i agreed to have a look. this is not currently a CMS website so meant downloading the pages making the edit an re uploading. [supposed to be being changed to joomla By me] first problem nobody knew the credentials for the site. i emailed the host who had disabled access. any way we were over paying by a lot so have moved hosts. but i still cant get at our old files even tho they say that they have set up ftp access to them. and given us the username and password. i have asked what the server address is and as yet no response, why do i get the feeling the old hosters are incompetent. also know body knew that the Host name was expiring at the the end of the month, so i am also glad i caught that one. and it has been sorted for the next 3 years.

windows server 2003 wont diverge drivers for anything above XP tho if you get 2003 R2 it does i had the same problem including the 32 64 bit versions best way is to log on to each machine and manually add it tho this adds the driver the printer still needs adding to each user account in my experience. all this is now fixed tho as i upgraded to Server 2008 r2. if your trying to manage windows 7 properly it mite be worth upgrading as support for XP end's in april i think.

i have been asked to look into web streaming live content through our website as in off a camera-website-users/viewers. as we have unlimited bandwidth to the (website) i was wondering if any one knew some good software for streaming content over a http: page. we only have slow upload so the site would have to take the connections. not the pc streaming. is this possible and what's the best way of going forward with this. open source is best. but i will look into other alternatives.

It realy depends on the specification of the machines but i would consider moving dns and your file server on to one or the other of the dc's we have two dc's one has dns and dhcp and the other a file server then a seprate server with wsus and sophos etc. but make shure you dont take to much processing out of the system or at peek loads stuff wont work so make shure the specifications are ok. also by having services spread out you lower the bandwidth needed to each server helping it to cope with higher loads more machines can connect at the same time, subject to CPU ram etc.

Just a small but good point are you definite that it was another student, that wrote the comments (If you don't know who). the other way round is to hold your ear to the floor and see if there are any murmurings somebody must know who did this if in your school and are likely talking about it (long shot but easier than a court order). and virgin IP addresses do change but not normally any where near as regular as bt or any provider that i know off, unless there are problems of course. you could also try a tracert to see the ip of the nearest routing device it might narrow it down a little further than just the town and this sometimes gives you device names also. use it like a ping so [tracert 127.0.0.1] and it will map it through 30 hops. hope this helps a little

you could set it on the lawn so they can actualy watch the grass grow. Joke of course. how about over the school feilds mabe. or the entrace to the school. Just be carefull with permision etc from my experiance you have to aske every one if they are willing to give there permission first if its going online photo's videos webcams all the previous. to avoid law suits.

all i can say about the super hub is it is a waste of time. i set port forwarding reset it rebooted the router factory resets the lot port forwarding wouldnt work. and there are plently of other people with the same issue its not just me. also the Wi-Fi is rubish from them. not to mention there a problems with the auto channel selector.
