I've just recieved my 2nd server from SCL all ready to replace our old SIMS server. I have used SCL svseral times in the past for desktops and servers and continue to find myself drawn into using them again. Sales staff are fantastic, know thier stuff and always helpful. Technical support are more than helpful, falling over backwards to sort out your problems. And of course the delivery is very fast! Could'nt recommend them enough, (A++ in the ebay sense)!!! lol

Whiteboard projector recommendations?
accura2000 replied to Number6's topic in AV and Multimedia Related
Just upgrade 10 of our old Sanyo things to Sharp PG-F150X projectors. 3 year warranty on projector and bulb, and there filter free! so no more maintanence to a degree anyway. Very impressed with the initial roll out and i will be changing the other projectors soon! They are also under 400 quid plus VAT! -
Yes there is a grant from the e-learning foundation. Only down side is that you have to provide laptops for ALL pupils in the years groups your launching the scheme into no matter if they pay for them or not! We only ask for a voluntary donation based on a 3 year cycle. Currently we have laptops in our years 4,5 & 6 (exquating to about 200 laptops) which has been running since september with little problems. I was aloud to upgrade the network as i saw fit so our infrastucture was able to cope with the extra wireless bandwidth! Also if you do this make sure you get a manufacturers accidental damage warranty for the three years, should only cost about 70 quid on top and its well worth the extra funds! Hope this help, feel free to PM me for more information.

[ms office - 2007] The curious case of the 0-byte Excel file
accura2000 replied to AngryTechnician's topic in Office Software
I had a smiliar issue with some childrens work here, all saved fine and verified by the teacher. When the children try to access later the files were empty/blank, with no apparent reason. I monitored it for a few days a quickly found that the children concerned loaded up word, click the save button instead of the open button and saved a black document over the top of the originally save one. Easy mistake for primary school kids i guess. -
[joke] How many lawyers does it take...

Not bad, very long winded but i seem to think its probably a real document produced by the LEA legal team! lol -
My biggest is 48 gig, its for our pupils laptops, store all my images on external USB harddrives and keep a backup on the NAS drive. God it would be a nightmare if i never had ghost.

I take it you have tried a different PC/laptop on the board? Just to eliminate the computer causing the problem. Also try a different serial/usb cable. Then try removing the drivers for the board, downloading the new ones and installing them after a reboot. Just a thought as i have boards that are 5 years old and work flawlessly.

All our children from years 3-6 have there own laptops. Year 1-3 use the ICT suite, and shared area bays. We work out to roughly 1:2.14

We actually have 24 Acer Extensa 5220 laptops what our primary school kids take home everyday, they seem fine and only broke when one of the kid dropped the thing. Luckily we took out the Acer 3 year Platinum warranty including accidental damage for about 70 quid. Acer are easy to talk to, the Extensa seems fairly reliable, casing structure is a bit bulky but it adds to the padding, we also brought some Swissgear rucksacks for them to go home in so it adds padding on the way home. We are so impressed with these one that we will probably buy more in the future. Many here will probably disagree with my response but i have used them, our kids use them and they do work.

I purchased a Atrix Int Express Vac portable vacuum last year for cleaning projectors and laser toner, it comes with a .3 micron filter which i believe is required under health and safety laws to clean up laser toner (Do you really want to chance it either way). I would'nt have it any other way and the thing only cost me 140 quid and 20 quid for a accessories kit. (plus the ol Vodka And Tonic)

I had a similar problem a fews years back, i reinstall the motherboard drivers and it all seemed to fall into place after that. This may not be the same for guys buts it must be worth a shot.

try running a chkdsk /r on the memory card from DOS, its work for me with USB memory sticks and floppy disks ( yes we still use then occationally)
-
not sure what the suggest, i take you have check the normal bits. I would check cabling, the filters are clear, and the screen resolution is within the projectors range, Anything else im not sure about...

It could be just a corrupt username in the AD. I had a problem where a user could not logon, kept saying password incorrect although i had reset it 10 times. Only solution was to delete and put the user back on. Worked a treat. It could also be something to do with your IE settings for your domain username, again the easiest solution i would say is to remove and place back the username in question.
-
Have you tried a different user account then? If it is yours, then backup your work in your user account, delete it, put it back, copy work and see if that cures it ? Or did i miss something there

I agree with Maniac, i only use the PCL5e drivers on our HP's. Works flawlessly touch wood.

Have you phone you email provider, as its web based and obviously on more than one machine then its probably a fault on their end. Could be wrong though but worth a shot.
