  2. Marky2027, This happened to a mate machine with Vista. Cannot remember exactly where but after alot of Googling i found a solution. Now bear with us as i cannot remember exactly but i hope this will lead to along the right path. In the system registry there was a entry that was something like wallpaper=****.bmp **** being the name of the bmp. I had to delete that key, reboot and all was good. Sorry for being vague but it was when Vista first came out.
  3. Spectrum +2: Yogi Bear (Yogi's Great Escape) Ruff and Ready in the Space Adventure Daley Thompson Olympic Challenge (z,x,z,x,z,x,z,x... Space) Lets not forget ELITE Super Nudge 2000 (fruit machine game - got alot to answer for now) Treasure Island Dizzy (prefered this one out of them all) Commodore 64: Supremacy. Silkworm - great platform type game with a buggy and helicopter. Commodore Amiga: Obviously the original Worms. Rambled on a bit there.....
  4. Been using SCLonline for nearly 2 years now, and beofr ei started in education for several years before, I speak to a guy there called Mark, easy to talk to, dont sell you rubbish you dont want and totally up front if you ask them if anything is good or not. Never had a problem with any of thier kit, support is excellent and with 3 year warrantys on almost all thier kit thier well worth a look.
  5. I turned IPv6 off in the network settings, that got my mac working great. Give it a try
  6. We have used IDNS for well over ayear now, only problem i have with them is to be careful with thier pricing. Its quite often well over the top and thier purchasing department do not seem to want to find anything themselves and ask me to find it for them ? Seem little point to that part of the company. In part from that, Ash is a top guy who i usually deal with.
  7. I had this same problem at home. I googled the problem and found it's a bug in Vista, the SP1 release will fix this but in the short term there is an un-offically released patch/es called the Windows Performance and Stability update. Give this a try, it fixed both my laptop and my desktop of the problem.
  8. My personal grudge is Smart Learning. My school purchased this some 3 years ago, the cursor disappears on alot of the activities (normal the ones that say look at the cursor), i get login errors. Promised me a patch to fix it back in 2004/2005, still waiting!!!
  9. eean, We used a company called Alpha Blinds, Eastmead Avenue, Ashford, Kent, TN23 7RX Tel: 01233 661466 Hope this helps.
  10. Im am getting the detail fishd out for you and i will post them as soon as i have them.
  11. Have you had to get black-out blinds or normal ones? What is it like now? No, we opted for standard vertical fabric blinds, it allows enough light through for lighting the room, but allows us to direct the light away from the boards. This is a huge improvment and the board are really viewable now.
  12. We use film all round our school, we recently added new blinds to most of the classrooms as the film was pretty useless as i let too much light through.. Plus you get teachers moaning that there is not enough natural light coming into the class anymore.. Too much light, not enough light... You can't win! Give them a marker pen, that'll solve it!
  13. Absolute rubbish from a setup point of view, long winded and annoying. I would personnaly launch it somewhere it would never be found (possibly hire an hypnotist to help the teachers forget about the darn thing). BUT, teachers love it and we do as were told it that respect!
  14. I generally use IDN Supplies for projectors/ whiteboards. I use a guy called Ash on 01204 363530. Been using them for about 18 months now with total success.
  15. You could add a second raid set to the server, a couple of fast SATA2 drives runnign as a mirror should do, migrate you user folders to them and get ranger to remap to that drive instead, this would free up disk access from your main system drive, also it would give you let load onto the USB ports as i find most USB ports flakey under pressure unless you want to opt of Firewire external drives. Personnally i would use the second raid option.
  16. I play Battlefield 2 Battlefield 2142 Member of WCC Squad Online name is accura2000
  17. I have a conginence plan for that in place, everything is on a cycle, things are due to replacement every year so it keeps to cost down. In other words, no real three year replacement to a degree just a build up of yearly costs. Never been a problem.
  18. I have successfully used "getdataback for fat" to recover almost a whole server. You should be able to use this for getting back the heads email data file.
  19. I currently use con2prt.exe to assign printers to computers based on location. Just enter a location into the enviornment settings in windows and make yourself a logon script and hey presto. Work flawlessly for the last 18 months.
  20. Well, lucky me i guess, extra 25K this year, probably go down next year though. We completed our last 3 year plan in 16 months. We have the luck of all admin people here listening to me. I generally get what i want!
