We have offsite backups through EIS Kent, had our raid pack up in Xmas Hols, i put new raid drives in and set the server back up, they collected it and restored it all like nothing had happened. Works really well but restoring back over the internet is not a good idea which is why they picked up the server and done at their offices just up the motorway.

Check your DNS settings/sevrer is working correctly as this can sometimes stop machine getting IP addresses and also, my XP clients had a similar problem until i turned WPA2 AES off and used WPA2 TKIP.

That gave me a chuckle.... kind of thing i would have done.

Yes, DHCP is definatly turned off. The problem seems to have gone since turning the STP option off on the GS724TPS switch. Strange in all but im quitely confident once all is settled everything will return to working order.

Well, this may solve my wireless problems, got 2 WFS709TP's running our wireless network and been get DHCP problems where clients are getting invalid IP addresses. Netgear have got no idea why. Reading this lead me to investigate and both wireless controller are plugged into a GS724T and a GS724TPS. going to play with the spanning options as suggested, will post if it sorts my problems. Update: For me this seems to have improved things dramatically. I still get the odd invalid ip address but a quick repair on the adapter and its up and running nice a quick.

How long has this been going on? ~I have had a similar problem but with our Netgear WFS709TP setup. Its worked flawlessly for nearly 2 years then all of a sudden, our older ~Acer Extensa notebooks with Atheros wireless cards fail to get an ipaddress, it just reports "Invalid IP Address" although connected to the wireless network with excellent signal strength. The only common factors between our networks is that the wireless cards are Atheros and the clients are running XP Pro SP3. Strangely the Acer Aspire 3410, with Atheros cards work fine but are running Windows 7 Pro. Any ideas? Update: Juist put a fresh install of Win7 on one of the Extensa laptops and its working perfectly on my wireless network! Put and fresh XP install on it and it plays around....

You need to show hudden files and show protected files. Then goto, C:\users\all users Problem you'll find is that its like a shortcut, you can paste items into the all users desktop link, but you cannot go into it to delete anything. I had found that deleting a file from your normal desktop will delete it from the all users desktop. Hope this helps.

I used to get similar problems, admittedly it normally happened when a member of staff turn the aircon off in the server "cupboard", but the heat issues relating to the HD failures only affected the hitachi and seagate drives, that said the seagate drives i found the be the least reliable. I have now changed all the server drives to Western Digital Caviar Black drives and havent had any fall over since, That was well over a year ago, with no errors, no raid issues, no strange noises, nothing...

Each Yr 2 class has 5 machines plus 5 laptops each Year 3 has a rolling bank of 30 laptops in trolley Year 4, 5 and 6 all pupils have their own laptops provided by the school FOC.

Nursery to Year 2 is 4:1 Year 3 is 3:1 Years 4 to 6 is 1:1.

Try updating the wireless card drivers, or they could be incompatible with WPA encryption. Also, if they are connecting, make sure they dont have 3rd party firewalls stopping then obtaining IP addresses or you could try reset the winsock for windows by going to a command prompt and typing netsh winsock reset ...
